Christmas & New Year Festivities 2013 at Ockenden Manor & Spa
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS Spend your Christmas in the charming and quintessentially English setting of Ockenden Manor in Cuckfield and sample the treatments and first-rate facilities of our spa, set within the manor houses walled gardens. Stunning views across a wintry wooded valley set the seal on a Christmas break at Ockenden Manor. Weve created the ideal retreat for a peaceful, relaxing Christmas, with a warm welcome and hospitality, guaranteeing a happy and memorable holiday.
Christmas Eve tuesday 24 December
Join us for traditional afternoon tea in the sitting room, while relaxing in front of the crackling log fire. Before dinner we will gather in the sitting room and bar for a Champagne reception where youll meet your hosts and fellow guests while local carol singers add a festive touch from years gone by. Dinner will be served in our elegant restaurants, with mixed tables for a real house party atmosphere. After dinner you might like to attend Midnight Mass in Cuckfields beautiful Norman Holy Trinity Church, just a few minutes walk into the village. When you return you can enjoy the last moments of Christmas Eve with mulled wine, warm mince pies and roasted chestnuts in the sitting room.

NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATIONS

Boxing Day thursday 26 December
After a Champagne English breakfast, why not sample the delights of our award-winning Spa? (Treatments should be booked in advance.) Theres plenty to keep you busy: a visit to the Bluebell Railway, or Wakehurst Place, or a local walk around Cuckfield. Upon your return we will serve afternoon tea and Christmas cake. Lunch is not included today. If you wish to dine with us at lunchtime a reservation is essential. Champagne cocktails in the bar mark the start of our black tie gourmet dinner, inclusive of wines, held around mixed tables in the Ockenden Suite. Our magician will keep you transfixed throughout the meal.

New Years Eve tuesday 31 December 2013

Join us for a veritable tour de force from the kitchen with a six-course tasting menu dinner leading all the way up to midnight. Dinner will be served in our restaurants, and our resident pianist will entertain you from the drawing room throughout the evening.

New Years Day wednesday 1 January 2014

Breakfast on New Years Day can be taken in the restaurant or in your room until 10am. After this, unless youve booked further nights with us, the open road will be beckoning.

Christmas Day wednesday 25 December

We will be serving a leisurely continental breakfast in the dining room, including a fresh fruit platter and freshly baked pastries. Room service is available if youd rather spend the first hours cosseted in your room. Champagne or kir royale are our aperitifs before a splendid six-course traditional luncheon, and if youve left enough room well serve you tea and home-made Christmas cake mid-afternoon. A range of board games is available to remind you of less hectic Christmases past. A delicious light buffet supper is offered in the evening, accompanied by a festive repertoire performed by our local harpist. A fitting finale to end a special day.

Christmas Eve TUESDAY 24 December
After a warm welcome, enjoy afternoon tea, Champagne and sparkling wine by a cosy log fire in our lounges. Spend the afternoon your way, whether playing traditional board games or sampling the spas facilities. Pampering beauty treatments are available, and should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment. After a Champagne reception accompanied by carol singers, we will be serving a relaxed Christmas Eve buffet in our candlelit dining rooms. We arrange transport for anyone wanting to attend Midnight Mass at Climping Parish Church, with mulled wine and warm mince pies ready on your return.

NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATIONS

Boxing Day THURsday 26 December
After you have enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, why not relax with a treatment or a swim in our luxury Spa. Do book treatments in advance as they book up quickly. Lunch is available and should be booked separately, then during the afternoon you can explore the grounds, stroll through historic Chichester, Arundel or visit the beautiful South Downs. A Champagne and canap reception, accompanied by our Spanish guitarist, leads you gently into the gastronomic treat of our Gala Dinner in the candlelit restaurant. Please be aware that bookings of six or less may be accommodated on party tables of up to ten guests.

New Years Eve, TUESDAY 31 December Party Night

Following your arrival, spend your afternoon playing board games, exploring the grounds or being pampered in our award-winning spa. Treatments are additional, and we advise booking in advance as they are understandably popular. The evening begins with a Champagne and canap reception. Then a five-course gourmet dinner will be served in our candlelit restaurant. Black tie is preferred, but not compulsory. After dinner our resident DJ will soon have you on your feet and dancing well into the New Year. Please be advised that bookings of six or less may be accommodated on party tables of up to ten guests.

New Years Day, WEDNESDAY 1 January 2014

After a well-deserved lie-in, join the manager and other guests and spa members in our annual New Years Day swim in the sea - a bracing but exhilarating experience! Your reward for your bravery or even if you have stayed snug in bed is a fantastic traditional English breakfast. After breakfast your brief but memorable stay with us will be at an end, unless you would like to stay for New Years Day luncheon or book further nights at a special rate.

Christmas Day WEDNESDAY 25 December

Start this special day with a full English breakfast in our dining room or in your room, before unwrapping presents and strolling in the grounds, or along Climping Beach. Champagne, kir royale and canaps will be served before our traditional Christmas Day luncheon with all the trimmings, which includes wines carefully selected by our restaurant manager. After lunch you might like to watch the Queens speech, play board games or even snooker, darts or table football. In the evening a light buffet supper can be taken either by candlelight in our Medieval Tapestry Restaurant or in the snug comfort of the lounges.

Staying two or more nights

During the afternoon you can take the traditional New Years Day walk on Climping Beach, or visit local towns and attractions. Our spa will also be open if youd like another treatment or a swim in warmer waters. Whatever you do, we hope you are relaxed and ready for evening dinner in our candlelit restaurant.

After a farewell country house breakfast you can wend your way home with happy memories of a wonderful stay at Bailiffscourt Hotel & Spa.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS Where better to spend Christmas than in a stunning building dating back to 1430, characterised by roaring log fires, oak-panelled rooms and ancient timbers, yet replete with modern luxuries such as wireless internet, flat-screen TVs and a spa, pool and gym? After your afternoon arrival, unpack in your own good time before taking complimentary afternoon tea in front of one of the log fires in our oak-beamed Lounge Bar. The Spa is open for a swim or a spell in the spa bath, sauna or steam room. Pampering treatments, using the Temple Spa range of products, are not included and should be booked in advance. The Champagne Reception gives you the chance to meet fellow guests and our team and to listen to a local youth choir, before moving to the candlelit restaurant for a delectable dinner prepared by the award-winning chefs. Midnight Mass is at St Mary Magdalene and St Denys Church, just a few paces away, with Winter Pimms on your return.

Arrive at your leisure. Your room will be ready after lunch, and afternoon tea awaits you in front of our open fires. Our Spa is open for a leisurely swim or some indulgent therapies; we recommend booking treatments in advance to guarantee availability. The evenings Black Tie celebrations begin with a Champagne Reception in the Lounge Bar, followed by a gourmet dinner in our Jacobean Hall. Our harpist will play for you in the early evening, with our magician providing the surprises. The evening will then build to the New Year with dancing and entertainment from our DJ and Champagne corks popping at midnight.

After enjoying a full English Breakfast, watch the local hunt gather, which traditionally meets at the hotel on New Years Day. There will be a full roast lunch in the restaurant (not included in the tariff, please book separately), plenty of bar snacks and an open fire in our wood-panelled bar, then a full a la carte dinner.

Christmas Day starts off in style with a Champagne breakfast served in the Restaurant. Before your traditional Christmas Day luncheon accompanied by our harpist, why not enjoy an invigorating walk along the River Rother to Cowdray Heritage? Our Spa will be open in the morning for a swim, a workout or treatments. Tea and Christmas cake will be served in the Lounge Bar following the Queens speech at 3pm, and a selection of board games will be available. Christmas Day evening features a festive buffet to round off a memorable day.
