VARIATION OF BIOCHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF EIGHTEEN MARINE MACROALGAE COLLECTED FROM OKHA COAST, GULF OF KUTCH, INDIA

ABSTRACT Eighteen marine macroalgae belonging to chlorophyta, phaeophyta and rhodophyta, from okha coast, gulf of kutch, india. and compared for their biochemical composition Macroalgae polysaccharides are used in the food, cosmetics, paints, crop, textile, paper, rubber and building industries. In addition, they are used in medicine and in pharmacology for their antimicrobial, antiviral, antitumor and anticoagulant properties. The macroalgae showed varied quantities of biochemical constituents like total carbohydrate, total protein, amino acid, phenol and total lipid. The concentration of carbohydrate was higher in most of the species of Chlorophyta followed by Phaeophyta and Rhodophyta, while high amount of amino acid was found in the species belonged to Rhodophyta as compared to Phaeophyta and Chlorophyta. The protein content was rich in the sequence of members belonged to Rhodophyta > Chlorophyta > Phaeophyta, in contrast, lipid content was observed in the sequence of members belonged to Phaeophyta > Chlorophyta > Rhodophyta. However, The phenol content was in inverse to carbohydrate content in studied marine macroalgae. The carbohydrate, amino acid, protein, lipid and phenol content were determined in the range of 16-45%, 9-20%, 10-35%, 0.4-14% and 8-34% of the fresh weight, respectively. The results of the study suggest that the algae which are abundantly available in this ecosystem also have considerable potential of carbohydrates, amino acids, proteins, phenols and lipids for their use as food and pharmaceutical industry as a source in preparation of nutrient supplements, medicine and fine chemical synthesis. After that he ran into the house to grab the scissors, the scissors will be used to cut the roses that he had found earlier, when he managed to cut all the roses, he was happy and he ran back to the house while calling his mother with a sense of excitement, when he found his mother he immediately gave the roses to his mother, his mother was surprised and pleased even so moved by her mother with giving her child was crying, and the end of the story his mother is very proud of his handout
