As a practicumers;I would like to express my heartfelt


gratitude to those people who been a great help.

First of all to my beloved parents and sister who support me


always, the financial needs in order to finish this activity. I’m very
proud and happy that God give me a good family that always
supporting the needs I want.

Second, to my beautiful Instructor Ms. Ramilan V. Gaborne


who always there to teach good knowledge. We proud of you
Ma’am because the effort and your knowledge you share with us
and also your help in order to have knowledge we used in the
future.

Third, to Mr. Jose Enrique Teguinos, the APEX facilitator


and Coordinator of Superferry ,who guide in onboard training in
the vessel. And Mr. Jaime Lim Superferry Supervisor in Butuan
Branch to give us chance to work and have experience in the
vessel. Thanks also the staff and crew of superferry who share their
skill and knowledge about everything we want to know.

Lastly. the most important who guide us, always give the
blessing in daily life,no other than our GOD ALMIGHTY in
heaven.
DEDICATION

First of all, I want to express this dedication to my beloved


parents, sister and friends who always support, because of them I
done my repot that have no problem or doubt. That’s why I’m very
happy and proud that my report is done well with there financial
support and idea.

I really appreciated for their concern and support that give for
me. All I can say is to thank for them very well.

And the special and important person in my life who give a


good idea and always there to support and give the blessing in
every family…the one and only the LORD GOD. Thank you so

INTRODUCTION:

Father Saturnino Urios University is belong to the Top 20


performing Colleges and University in the Phils. A School of well
trained Instructor and Staff and also student. It offers lot of courses
and of the best course among all is the Hotel and Restaurant
Management. It’s a managerial course which contracts Hotel
Industry. It is being develop nowadays of its ladderized program.
The important requirement of this course is to have a OJT in
different Hotel and Restaurant Establishment.

Father Saturnino Urios University give big chance to all


HRM student to have practicum or Training in different divisiiion
of the hotel, and work in 120 hours each. Just to show the talent or
skill and also the knowledge to work with other people that they in
School. This practicum of HRM student also to observe, learn, and
in different task in real work setting. And to enable them to get
actual exposure in the different department of the establishment
and work as a part-time in the company, theories and action they
have learn to become confidence in the future.

This program of the School is the first time experience and


very early to the HRM in there life just to achieve the goal of
every student that dreaming to be a professional someday or to
manage a hotel and own a big Hotel and Restaurant in the future.
MESSAGE to the ADMINISTRATION;

The Father Saturnino Urios University Administration and


Business Administration Department and with the Super ferry
APEX program for HRM student in onboard training, this is the
first step deal to achieve on lifetime journey of being on aspiring
Hotelier.

I would personally thank to FSUU for giving the opportunity


for HRM student of having practicum on super ferry and giving us
HRM student the chance to show or apply what we learn in the
School.

This is like the dream come true working on a cruise on the


first time in the life of the student.

Once again thanks to the HRM administration and the teacher


for the effort and support for the student to complete the task as
student.

MESSAGE to the ESTABLISHMENT;

Super ferry is the one of the largest company in shipping


industry in the Phil’s. And giving our industry to expand the
exposure, skills and knowledge of all HRM students in the
Philippines.

This APEX program of Super ferry is the biggest chance of


the HRM student to show their skill and knowledge on the ship
management and hotel operation on board on actual in the vessel.
And also super ferry is the most progressive shipping
companies that could be provide HRM student and Nautical
student with the best experience on board.

I would personally thank to all the staff and crew of the


vessel for the friendly and knowledge they share. The super ferry
supervisor Mr. Jaime Lim and Mr. Jose Enrique Teguinos the
facilitator to give us chance to work their company and to show
what we learn in our school.

SHIPPING COMPANY..

HISTORY of the ESTABLISHMENT


WG@A or Super ferry is a shipping company based in
Manila Phil’s. It is the second largest shipping company next to
Sulpicio Lines. Its main pier – 15 in Manila south Harbor. It is
considered that the company’s super ferry is the one of the more
modern shipping vessel in the Phil’s. Most of the boat are
accidentally were usually caused by the weak implementation of
safety regulation formerly, the shipping company was a subsidiary
of WILLIAM, GOTHONG and ABOITIZ or WG@A in short.

Aboitiz took super ferry and the shipping company sister


supper cat and the Cebu Ferries while Gothong restarted its own
shipping company called CARLOS A. GOTHONG LINES or in
short (CAGLI). Currently super ferry and its sister companies
super cat and Cebu ferries are subsidiaries of aboitiz.
SUMMARY OF WORK EXPERIENCE;

The FSUU 1st year student having a practicum in the Hotel


establishment and every student have 120 hours to require to
completed the task. On April 19-23 the HRM student belong to
APEX on super ferry practicum have started.

The APEX facilitator give the HRM student the rules and
regulation in super ferry like; to wear the prescribed uniform in
every department assign, not to wear jewelries and accessories
while duties, short hair cut for the male and for the female hair tie-
up and maintain hair kempt, long and colored finger nails are not
allowed, always observe discipline and courtesy, follow every
schedule of activities, smoking is not allowed during working and
also in the air-condition areas, gambling and drinking also, public
disturbance, and every student have to follow the rules and
regulation in work and also the super ferry rules.

On the first day of work we should have the seminar and


familiarization of the vessel like; the accommodation area, food
and beverages department, front desk office, and the bridge were
the captain of the ship work. Every student have the following
work giving by the APEX facilitator by in group.

And I belong to the Echo group and the first assignment that
I have is housekeeping, then my work with my co-group especially
the guy is to maintain the cleanliness of the shower and toilet of
male and female in the Mega value accommodation in the vessel in
every 10-15 minutes to map the floor and this kind of work is not
to hard for me. And also to assist the guest in their needs and
wants.

And my next work or assignment is in the Food and


Beverages in the vessel called HORRISON CAFÉ my job is to a
greet the guest, assist the guest in the table they want to feel
comfortable, sale the product and offer the menu, set-up table and
also clean-up also. Which means my work is a waiter and the
female co-group is to give the food of the guest. This kind of work
give me challenge especially our head in the F@B is giving the
idea of the American standard set-up in the vessel and proper
serving the plate like the solid item and the liquid, and also the
clearing of the plate. And that my job at super ferry -9.

When we arrived at Manila we don’t have enough time to


have fun but even do we buy what we want at the MALL OF ASIA
and sightseeing. Then after that we back in Eva Macapagal Port to
transfer other vessel the super ferry-1 the fastest boat, and this ship
is going back to our destination then the route is Bacolod, Surigao
then Nasipit.

On the first day of super ferry-1, again we should familiarize


the vessel, so that we know everything we are going to assign in
the vessel. The Echo group first job is to have a workshop seminar
in Bed Making or have the return demo then every one of us
should do. Then after I done my bed making I was assign to clean
the wall and map every corner of the cabin area or the called it the
first class. And also assist the guest problem and greet them too.
After everybody done our task we want to rest in few hours
because we had another schedule or assignment waiting

The next assignments we are assign in the Super value


accommodation in the vessel the House keeping. Again same work
we done in the Mega value at super ferry-9.

Third assignment is the Food and Beverages they called it;


the Island Fiesta were all the guest are there to eat there breakfast,
lunch and dinner and to enjoy theirself like singing the KTV bar.
My duties and responsibilities is to greet the guest warmly and
make sure have enough trays and utensils, maintain the cleanliness
of the dining area and service equipment, attend the other services
request, clears and clean tables promptly, sorting and stacking
equipment and perform other duties as necessary. And to clean the
table after the guest had done eating. The most amazing part is the
one of the crew teach us how to make a flower plate arrangement
while cleaning the tables. Then every want of us do especially the
guy, then we do it and got it what they teach to us.
On April 23 the last day of our work in the vessel I was
assign in the Front Desk Office and also echo group where I
belong. Front Office is the nerve center of the vessel. It is the
contact point between the crew and the guest. And also the first
and last impression of the company and therefore our primary
work to do is to; welcoming the guest upon boarding, assigning of
room and issuance the key when necessary, rendering the guest
needs during the voyage, managing the guest complaints, ensuring
the enjoyment during the trip, and maintain the guest record. Front
Desk Office will accomplish the required reports of the front desk
as necessary; the front desk passenger and accommodation report,
the upgrading report, and the linen revenue report. This kind of
work that you are in always standing position and always alert and
smile.

The last part of my work in the tourist accommodation, this


the last assignment then same work always in the mega and super
value area.

The most amazing and important part of our work is we we


done our job and to receive the Certification of Super ferry that
which means we completed our 120 hours on practicum.
RECOMMENDATION:

First I would like to recommend this to the becoming first


year student of HRM that they must be concern and aware for the
duties and responsibilities and every task in life as a student, that
also work will so hard and have the good performance to show.
Because they are the next to have on job training in every
department they assign, and to show their skill and knowledge they
learn from the school.

And I welcome you as a part of the FSUU or URIAN and


HRM organization in this institution. And you’re not mistaken to
select this course because it is the big industry in the country. And
this is our ambition and dreaming to manage a Hotel and
Restaurant business in the future. After we finish our school year in
life so good luck and God bless to us and more power.

And for the faculty and staff of the Business Administration


Department that they have more Instructors to teach the new
enrolled student in this coming in the School days.
