Boy Scouts Day Camp

The National Capital Area Council Cub Scout Day Camps are themed, weeklong day camps for boys in grade 1 through Webelos. Activities vary from camp to camp, but usually range from traditional Scouting games and achievement opportunities to archery and BB instruction, crafts, nature study, soccer, fishing, swimming, handicrafts, leatherwork, and camp skills. Camp Fairlee Manor is a summer-long celebration filled with fun, tradition, innovation, friendship, and individual growth. For over 50 years, campers with disabilities experience safe, healthy and successoriented recreational opportunities. Sessions offer a wide range of activities including arts and crafts, sports and games, nature walks, swimming, fishing, high/low ropes courses and canoeing. Sessions are divided according to age and ability. Reqs: Ages 6+. The League at Camp Greentop is a traditional sleep-away summer camp for youth and adults with disabilities located in Thurmont, Maryland. Campers enjoy activities such as swimming, horseback riding, arts & crafts, sports & games and other social activities. The Respite Weekend program provides outdoor recreation, fun and friendship for children and adults with disabilities in a camp setting. The weekend allows parents and caregivers a short interval of rest and relief from the 24-hour responsibility of direct care or service. Program activities vary by group age and ability, but may include sports and games, nature activities, creative arts, outdoor adventure activities, field trips and more. Reqs: Ages 6+. Pony Pals is a great opportunity for beginner riders to gain basic horsemanship and riding skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Campers between 6 and 12 years old will enjoy spending their morning periods at the barn becoming young equestrians, and then returning to general camp activities in the afternoon. Terrific TeenMelwood

The Terrific Teen program is designed for campers ages 13 to 18, who are ready to take on some responsibility in addition to having camp fun! During the two-week session, Terrific Teens focus on team building, leadership development and work ethic in the hopes that they will return to camp in the future as staff. The teens will work daily in one of our program areas or with a camper group. They will also work on a camp improvement project to help enhance the camp community. Over the weekend they will go on a field trip which they will have planned and budgeted themselves, with help from their counselors. Reqs: Campers must be ages 13Session 1: June 20-July 2 18. Pioneers Camp- The League

Since 2003, Pioneers learn and take part in activities in four areas: pioneering, outdoor living skills, astronomy, and adventure skills. Located mile down the road from Camp Greentop, League Pioneers takes place at Walnut Springs. Participants will also explore the rest of the National Park and nearby Cunningham State Park. Reqs: Ages 13+. The Leagues Travel Camp

Participants join us to travel to locations such as Las Vegas, Disney World, Myrtle Beach, various cruises and other tourist destinations. Participants travel by land or air to a wide range of locations around the United States. With the support of travel staff, participants stay in hotels, dine in restaurants and see all that their travel destination has to offer. Reqs: Ages 18+. Maryland Therapeutic Riding

(Not limited to riding only) Therapeutic riding opens new pathways of physical, mental and emotional rehabilitation. Special riders, with challenges such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, post-traumatic brain injury, cognitive limitations, emotional disabilities, autism and ADD, have experienced an overall improvement in their quality of life. Designed as a non-competitive, nurturing experience for campers whose sensory integration problems make it difficult for them to cope with larger, more competitive camps. M-NCPPC Department of Parks & Recreation offers 450 exciting camp options throughout the County for an inclusion or specialized placement. Working through Inclusion Services, each camp offers inclusion opportunities with a two week advance notice. The Special Programs Division/TR Programs offers specialized camps throughout the County for ages 5 - 21 years. Activities include swimming, arts & crafts, field trips, sports, computers, and more. Unicorn Center, Inc., an animal-based therapy and recreation organization and animal rescue program, is dedicated to serving those with special needs in a safe, positive learning environment, and providing shelter and rehabilitation to animals in need. We serve children and adults with learning disabilities, emotional disorders, physical disabilities, as well as at-risk youth and the elderly, pairing each participant with a loving animal.
