Part 1: Oriental Affairs

Klowrian history has been mostly fixated in Klowr, never deviating or being affected by outside events. Save the silk incident. The modern history of Klowr however, was a different tale, Klowrian became aware of how corporations, and foreign governments were trying to devolve Klowr, and lessen her achievements. We start off at the end of the civil war, the state of the Commonwealth was fragile. Commonwealth expenditure and gross domestic product, was at a historic low of KSP 230 Million in todays money. Unemployment had reached 23%, foreign investment was on the decline. Yet through this, under Consul General Ulyssess Buregard Grant, founder of modern Klowr. Enacted several policies to improve the situation, such as the Grand Recovery Package, which industraliase the north, and increased manufacturing output. However, sectarian problems such as the growing hatred between the churches had been growing, and no steps were taken by Buregard to prevent this violence. In the foreign affairs department, the country had largely remained isolationist. Although Dandaria had been acquired in 1867, shortly after the civil war. The government decided not to intervene in the articles. Unbeknownst to Consul Grant, the Siujun cabinent had signed into power, the which in Mandrian translates into, The agreement on the treatment of Klowria, which was only published in September 1st 2005. The agreement read, This new Commonwealth, is only going to be weak for so long [] Recommendations are for immediate funding of rebellion [] concludes that if the Commonwealth is allowed to continue, with her colonies, the government of Siujun will 1|Page

be greatly threatened by this new commonwealth [] with huge numbers of colonies, a shewd merchant class, and academic prowess [] The Commonwealth shall undermine Siujun power by five decades [] Further concludes that the Commonwealth will eventually within a century become a Lucerna Superpower, we need to stop this barbarian before she fully awakes The agreement, would first strike with the Cardu affair, although many historians suspect Siujun treachery had started following the signing; CIA reports on the issue dating 1932 states: Siujun likely was unable to implement any policies until the Cardu affair. For backstory, the Cardu affair, involved the report published by the Klowrian Herald in 1899, where Siujun had allegedly supplied funds to the Klowrian Catholic Army; the rebel group operating in some areas of Anglica, and Khazadia. Nearly 50 Million KSP, (142 Million KSP in todays money) the moneys were supplied via an Arumdaum state bank, to the KCA. These funds were later reported in a memorandum by the group as, essentially crucial to our operations [] to which if we had not receive we would become irrelevant and inefficient [] has increased our survivability by a few more decades, the group would later be responsible for the troubles of 1904-1913. The KCA was the single largest Christian rebellious movement in Klowrian history, at its largest, the organisation numbered 500,000 members, and controlled five shires across Anglica. Many were upset that for the first time in a 1000 years, the Christian groups would have no voice in parliament. The spark for the rising however, was the government failure in preventing attacks on Christians between Christians. The response from the governments in question was perplexing; Arumdaum stated that the banks believed that the funds were being transferred to a peaceful organisation; whilst Siujun denied the claims of the Cardu Affair. The Cardu affair also triggered the Levelson Enquiry, a historic enquiry which solidified Klowrian distrust in Orientals. Called by Minister of Defence, Charles Levelson. The Levelson Enquiry, Chaired by the Chief Justice, Tony Abbott, passed the Levelson documentation. The documentation on multiple times stated, By far blame lies on the Oriental Governments, whom failed to prevent whether knowing or unknowing, this affair [] they are the centre blame for this affair, and have caused significant damaged to the social cohesion of the Commonwealth [] it is the matter of this enquiry, that the KCA be considered a foreign funded terrorist organisation, the Levelson Enquiry, was the wakeup call for Klowrians of the threats their country faced. Polls conducted by the Klowrian Report, showed an increase in antiOriental sentiments, from 45% in 1895 to 64% in 1900. 2|Page

The Cardu affair and the Levelson Enquiry, shock most Klowrians, many had believe in an ideal world. Where no nation was out to harm them, however with the Cardu affair that belief was shattered. It was this affair, which allowed then Consul, Consul Howard Greywood, to justify the Greywood doctrine (1900), the Fatherland bill which created the Commonwealth Intelligence Agency (1902) and allowed for further expansion of the Commonwealth Defence Force. Espionage was given a 55% increase in funding. As such, this paved a way for the Commonwealth to begin undermining the Oriental hegemony over Lucerna. But other factors were to play a role; by far what would affect the Commonwealth was the Comrobian war over Dandaria. By 1905, Klowrian unrest had grown, in the form of the troubles. The troubles, was a sectarian battle between the KCA representation the Catholics whom wanted the creation of a catholic state, the Army of the Holy a radical Baptist group, and Rarsa Karas Armas a radical Pagan group whom wanted a return of the king. All these groups concentrated in taking over areas are largely inhabitable land, although they never conquered large tracts of land, with the largest of the controlled area only reaching 631 km^2, it still greatly affected the trade and development in the north. The Comrobian government, mainly Catholic at the time, decided this as a perfect opportunity to wage war against Klowr, at that time Comrobian was a regional power; army ranked as the seventh largest army, just behind Klowr, and had a larger economy then the Commonwealth. In a secret communique between the KCA and the Comrobian army, it stated, we shall provide you with a distraction, where you shall show the heathens the truth of the bible, and then my brother, we shall hang them together from their entrails. The Causis belis of the war, was over the recent acquisition and transformation of Dandaria into a Dominion of Klowr, a colony which Comrobian had maintained as their property, claiming in a 1903 report, undoubtedly, the actions of the Klowrian government, are repulsive at best the peninsula of Dandaria, was founded and maintained by Comrobian for nearly fifty years, before the overthrow of the colonial government [] Actions should be taken by the Cabinet, to restore our control over our colony. The Klowrian government retorted subsequently stating, All claims by the Comrobian government are irrelevant and none of our concern [] under the Treaty of Palera, signed by the representative of the Dandarian people, Any or past claims to Dandaria are rejected, the people of the Dandaria are proud citizens and loyal to the community of the commonwealth, forever it shall be that Dandaria be part of the Commonwealth. As such we will not back down to this imperial. Many historians debate the real motivation for the Comrobian war, although it is easy to white wash this war as a Colonial war, it was a war over control of Western Lucerna. Professor Charles Darki of Comrobian State University, stated, What we saw was a transition of power, a hegemonic change, if only a slight one. From the old guard of Comrobia, to the new guard of Klowr. The spark of the Comrobia-Klowrian war was the raid on the embassy, where the Klowrian embassy was ransacked and raided by a mob of Comrobian citizens in the Citadel. The ambassador barely escaping with his life, the report filed under the Comrobian Embassy Raid (1905) report states: to which, multiple reports of Comrobian police and militia men 3|Page

participating in this raid were reported [] 204 embassy staff were murdered by the mob, and the government of Comrobia has yet to apologise. In response an angry mob conducted a similar raid on the Comrobian embassy in Annuminas, burning the embassy to the ground on 5/12/1905. This provoked the Comrobian government to issue a declaration of war the following day, Failure to protect Comrobian property [] stealing of land from the people of Comrobian [] hostile ambitions. The war lasting from 6/12/1905 15/2/1908, was fought mainly at sea. Several landings made by the Comrobian military were largely failures, the largest of, the Artfield landings at Artfield, Devr Shire in Above: The battle of Westmera would cost the Klowrian 5/3/1906, and involved 10,000 men; failed largely due Expeditionary force,15,324 men. It was the deadliest land battle in the Comrboain War to the defeat of naval ships at the surrounding area, and lack of resources. Attempts to acquire Dandaria were made, most notably by the Comrobian Eight Fleet, led by famed Admiral, Admiral Drast Derbywood, led a taskforce of nearly 50,000 men, six battleships, and nine destroyers. The Eight Fleet never reached Dandaria; the most they went was nearly 50 miles from Dandaria. Where the Second Commonwealth Southern Fleet intercepted and in the battle of Dandaria bay destroyed the ships. In a later report, the admiral, Grand Admiral Lawrence Comstock would state, the fleet I engaged, had little ammunitions, many ships simply started throwing utilities and tools at us. I would later acquire that due to harsh weather, and attrition from pirates, further alleviated, that many ships were not to date with our technology, meant that the Comrobian fleet would have never been able to penetrate through our ships. The war would eventually end, with the Rertfield landings in Comrobia. The Comrobian army, exhausted, and with no supplies, fought an ineffective battle as General Ceri Cer Arms stated in his report. The Fifth army entered the Citadel in 1908, the battle for Comrobia had only cost the Klowrian army 23,432 casualties, a stark contrast to Comrobia which lost 76,321, and half of its armed forces were nullified by the war. The Comrobians signed the Mitchell accords, in 1908. Forcing Comrobia into a near colonial state of subjugation. With most of their economy going to Klowr, and military capped at 10,000 men. This accord would stay with Comrobia till 1958. The war further aggravated jingoism whilst uniting the Commonwealth, Consul at the time, David Mitchell stated in his biography, At that time, my cabinet, felt a eutrophic, as if they had the possibility to take on the world. With the defeat of the Comrobians, we felt that we could handle bigger fish. Many obviously forgot the troubles, which was still on going. However, the war had united the Klowrian people, in a poll conducted by the Annumians Messenger, it asked the question, Do you think we should be divided by our religious affairs, to which 73% voted No, whilst 7% voted yes, and the rest voted undecided. This was a different case, before the war where the majority voted yes. In an economic perspective, the need for arms, and naval ships saw many companies, such as Berkly Arms Co., and Klowrian Shipping Hull skyrocket. Many reported a 152% increase in profits from the onset of the war, with stocks from both companies climbing by 53% over the 4|Page

war. The Klowrian economy, still affected by the civil war and the troubles pulled through, and growth was forecasted at a stunning 16.3% over the next ten years. Army careers were on the rise from 5% in 1903, to 9.53% in 1908. The war crystallised the arms industry whilst providing growth for jingoism in the Commonwealth, it also served to unify the Commonwealth. Not only between the levels of Dominions, but nationality and religion. Klowrian patriotic societies, such as the League of Orange, founded in 1432, had for centuries been deemed as a racist and socialist organisation, but were brought into spotlight for carrying out espionage activities in Comrobia during the war. Following the signing of the accords, the CIA published a report, after investigating the Comrobia Defence Agency, that Siujun, Esppa, and Arumdaum had been funding the Comrobian government during the last days of the war. The report was rejected by both governments. Siujun in a communique stated False accusations [] hiding their true imperial capitalist intention. Arumdaum report published in 1912, CIA investigating were heavily bias, although funds were provided, they were for rail production in the Grandarsa region [] the report is to be deemed as falsified. Government of Esppa, claimed in 1911 report CIA had manipulated the books, the funds were for the building of a (Unspecified) hydro-electric dam, for several food factories in Westmera. The CIA still stands on the reports, where the accused governments donated a total amount of 23 million KSP, under a guise of Humanitarian aid. And rejected claims of falsifications. The war allowed for several near impassable bills, such as the Religious Harmony Bill signed into power by Consul David Mitchell on the 10/5/1910; sealing and protecting religious cohesion in the commonwealth. The troubles would continue till 1913, through the troubles, multiple individuals would be kidnapped, most notably Sir Karm Berkma, the Chief of Police for Anglica. Nearly 532 indidivudals in Anglica would be kidnapped by the CTPs, many would be killed by their captives. The troubles was remembered by most Klowrians, as the invention of terrorism. Throughout the troubles, a total of 644 bombings was conducted throughout Klowr, most were harmless, as the calculated percentage for the bombs was Caculated incorrectly, as a CIA report of Bombings by the CTPs.

Klowrian efforts agiainst the CTPs came in the form of the Stick in the North, Pillow in the South, as Consul David Mitchell in his 1909 Address to Parliament stated. This policy, which was to be codified as the SNPS direction, was the use of the Klowrian Legion in the north, and a new detective domestic agency in the south. The Klowrian legion, one of the oldest military organisations in history, was deployed from the summer of 1910 onwards. The SNPS, resulted in the creation of the modern Detective agency in Klowr. Under the Second Fatherland Act, the Commonwealth Investigative Bureau was created, to respond to the terrorism.

The creation was a result and retaliation by the KCA on the Commonwealth, for the arrest of the Second-in-Command of KCA. 2/6/1910, on a Sunday morning, the Archibald Building, containing the temporary recidence of the CIA, and headquarters of the Klowrian Tax Service, the building was attacked via car bomb, a detonation roughly equilivant to 32 dynamite sticks ripped through the exchange, killing 214 civilians, and 21 agents, roughly 57.3% of the agency. In response, the second fatherland act was signed, not only creating the CIB. But also authorising the direct use of military forces into Anglica, previously this had only been used in the civil war. The CTPs were to only last 3 more years after the Archibald Building bombings, the Klowrian legion led by fame general, Lawerence Brandywine, led a major offensive on the Army of the Holy stronghold in Southern Khazadia, in the Dori Shire. The offensive, crippled the AH to a small organisation. The pagans, had been laying low during the majority of the Troubles, till the Dori Offensive. In a secret communique between the commands, Our time is nearly up brother, we shall strike fear into the hearts of these heathens, we shall have a name which they will fear forever. The Raras Karas Armas, located mainly in Lorien, operated Cross-Burning operations in the plains of Evendim, these operations involved raiding hamlets in the plains, taking and kidnapping those who could not defend themselves, police reports from the town of Roping, The RKA, brought guns, and had a force of nearly a hundred, compared to my fifty police officers [] in the center of the town, after they had finished a operation [] they fixed up a large cross, and set it on fire, whilst Above: A cross burning session being conducted in the town of Loverwood, this would be the largest Cross-Burning session. chanting a pagan chant [] nearly 1/6 of the population of my town has been kidnapped. The CIB could not handle these raids, without military support. RKA would conduct nearly eight cross-burning operations, kidnapping nearly 2315. Of these, the CIB along with the Klowrian legion would conduct operations to rescue them. It was decided that the RKA would continue their terror, as cited in a 1911 report, the CIB decided that the RKA will be obliterated. A sting operation, at the headquarters conducted mainly by CIB agents, destroying their major headquarters in Lorien in 23/12/1912, the CIB report published stated, our agents rescued next to 1842 civilians [] most were malnutritioned [] they report of being beaten, trapped with bees, other torture meachnism [] RKA leader Uberdi Cer Kane still on the loose. After 1912, the RKA would lay dormant for the next fifty years. The RKA members along with the Army of the Holy were prosecuted by the Supreme Court in a general hearing, the Supreme Court ruled that because of the severity of the crimes, death penalties will be actively considered. Supreme Justice for Dandaria at the time stated, They 6|Page

struck terror, in a time where we needed unity, they fundamentally outrulled our law. And tried to bring us into a second civil war. However, only 5 members of the RKA, the AH were executed. Most receive forced labour charges, and were deported to Dandaria. The KCA however, was conducting large scale military operation into Klowr, to a point where the capital of Khazadria, Gondamon, was attacked by several units. Only saved by reinfocements by the Klowrian Legion. It was decided that the policy of starving the KCA would get the troubles nowhere, General Brandywine decided on a forceful approach. The Klowrian legion, proceded on total war on the KCA, by April, the KCA only controlled less than 25% of its greatest extent. The KCA still had bite, in June, the KCA decided to move into the KCA capital, St. Bastile, leading to the battle of Bastile, costing the legion 5042 men, whilst the KCA lost 12,421 men. Bastile was to discourage the KCA from any other growth, most members deserted. Fort Dortmund, would serve as the last major battle in the Klowrian Isles. The battle lasted fifty days, and costed the legion 12,421 men. The KCA with no where to go surrendered. One controvasial aspect of the war, was the executions committed by the legion. General Brandywines staff was accused during the Troubles Enquiry, of not preventing several officers from commiting Mass-murder on the KCA members, of all the troops from the KCA 14,215 members remained unaccounted for, leading many to suspect that they were executed. A staff member, whom later would be imprisioned stated, We had no other choice, most of the time, if we sent them to our interment camps, they would break out. Our options were limited, I state that most of these missings, were officers, they understood the risk, and I have no regrets. The Klowrian legions actions were to make David Mitchell pass the Third Fatherland bill, preventing them to be deployed on Klowrian soil, against Klowrians. Making them a de jure colonial army, to this day, many Catholic Church members are billing for repayment. The Klowrian legion, eventually apologised in 2001. In a 1956 CIB report on the issue, the CIB concluded, The resulting executions were either in repayment for all harm caused to the Legions [] post-dramatic stress order played a huge role [] the Klowrian legion high command, most specifically General Lawerence A. Brandywine had no knowledge of these events [] concludes that the Klowrian Legion cannot be blamed for these executions, KCA repayments should not come from the Klowrian Legion. [] Still has unabled to find any bodies of these executions. The troubles would end with the Noftu agreement, protect the religious sector of Klowr; which in return, pledge non-violence towards the government. Furthermore, Consul David Mitchell signed Ammendment 15, which allowed for Non-Elected Members of Parliament, originally capped at 5 seats, it would later increase to 10 in 1942, and then 25 in 1973. The amendment, allowed for religious groups, or groups with no political affiliation in the Klowrian General Assembly. The first in Lucerna to have such a system. Paving a way for the famed social stability of Klowr. The Cardu affair, Troubles, and the Comrobian war, had all severely changed the ideas of the Commonwealth, the thinking of the Klowrian. It would forever kill nationalism in the colonies, 7|Page

as many colonials respected and saw themselves in an equal partnership with Klowr; the churches of Klowr would no longer bicker, but support one another, pagans were allowed to worship in Lorien; the economy was restarted by these events. By the end of the decade of 1900(s), the Klowrian outlook was going good; however future events were to show different.
