Dear prospective student,

The Economics Student Society (ESS) of The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) would like to warmly welcome you to your period of study here. It is indeed a great honor to be selected to study here at our prestigious university from some of the most experienced lecturers you will have the good fortune to meet. I can readily assure you that this university unlike any other would enable to you to experience a unique closed environment study where an amicable relationship with the academic staff can be built. However, apart from the academic knowledge you would of course part with, you are also given the opportunity to hone on field useful secondary skills via the ESS.

In terms of academics, there is a great deal to look forward to, our academic faculty members are well versed in a number of research arenas, and the school of Economics organizes talks and forums by some of the esteemed economists in the country. That is not all, with ESS we bring you the unique opportunity of submitting your own research articles, on our newly established blog where discussion of the up and current economic issues to other topics of interest will be discussed. In addition the ESS is happy to help guide you with internship opportunities be it research oriented or public policy. Understandably we realize that as a fresher you will face a confusing new environment here but not to worry the ESS will organize a number of social events for you to meet our faculty staff and students who would always have a friendly word of advice or two. I am certain that you are eagerly anticipating your stay here, however of course there are a few concerns that you will have, and I am happy to tackle these concerns. Understandably the main concern would be accommodation, and UNMC offers both on campus and off campus accommodation, more details can be obtained here; http://www.nottingham.edu.my/Study/Accommodation/Accommodation.aspx If you are yet to receive confirmation of you accommodation do not be disheartened, please contact the accommodation office or me for further assistance, and I can assure you that UNMC is a safe and environmentally friendly place that will make you feel like for us here, a definite home away from home. Apart from this, another obvious concern would be transport as UNMC is comparatively distanced from the known main cities; nevertheless this is not a cause for complaint, as the university offers an exemplary transport service ensuring that our stay here is as privileged as need be. This campus offers excellent facilities whether it be academic or sports, and with a lively, friendly and very active diverse student community you can expect a one of a kind experience.
