Due: Friday, August 23, 2013 at 5:00 P.M Email the complete application to: info@SomaliDiasporaCorps.com Somali Diaspora Corps (SDC) is a non-profit organization that was founded in the United States in 2013, and registered in Somalia. SDC aims to provide a platform and incentives in recruiting educated Somalis, as volunteers through our fellowship programs, from the Somali diaspora communities to help the ongoing task of rebuilding Somalia. SDC encompasses four important projects that are paramount to the rebuilding process: Project Health, Project Education, Project Development and Project Democracy. For one to become a fellow, you must be: A College Student, a recent Graduate or a Professional of Somali origin. Willing to work in Somalia in one of our four core projects, for a minimum period of three months. Preferred: Fluency in Somali or Arabic language.

We operate two fellowship programs: SDC Fellows and Summer Fellows Programs. However, we are currently recruiting fellows for SDC Fellows Program. SDC Fellows Program is a year round program targeting mostly recent college graduates and professionals to volunteer in one of our four core projects for either three months, six months or up to a year. We offer the following as incentives to recruit the best minds:

A round trip air fare ticket to Somalia. A small living expense stipend. A placement in one of our partner organizations within one of our four core projects.

Essay: In 2-3 pages tell us why you want to rebuild Somalia. Somalia is a country that is emerging from civil war; why do you want to spend three months or more in such an environment? How do you think your knowledge will contribute in the rebuilding process? What skills have your experiences and academic studies provided that will strengthen your fellowship? And finally, if you were the Director of one of our four core projects, what programs will you implement? 3.
