TEXT 1 Let us glorify the boundlessly merciful Supreme Personality of Godhead, the Prince of Vraja.

To taste the intoxicating sweet waves of the nectar of transcendental love for Krshna, as well as to give that nectar to others, He has now appeared in the transcendental abode of Navadvipa as Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. PURPORT The simple essential path taught by practical demonstration of Lord Caitanya in this verse is tasting the karma free intoxicating mellows of devotional love of God and simultaneously awakening the taste of that nectar in the hearts of others who are drawn close to associate with such an inebriated transcendental bee. Does such a path exist now in this world? If so where is it to be found? If such a rare path exists, how many are even interested or are capable of understanding it's value? Only those who receive this unprecedented mercy to taste devotional mellows from favorable association with Lord Caitanya's devotee in true disciplic succession will be a living witness to the truth of this mysterious path.

TEXT 2 One who is untouched by any piety, who is completely absorbed in irreligion, or who has never received the merciful glance of the devotees or been to any holy place sanctified by them will still ecstatically dance, loudly sing, and even roll about on the ground when he becomes intoxicated by tasting the nectar of the transcendental mellows of pure love of God given by Lord Caitanya. Let me therefore glorify that Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. PURPORT This verse was apparently written when Lord Caitanya had recently disappeared. Then practically how then persons who had no devotional
1

qualification taste the intoxicating mellows of love of God? When Lord Caitanya relished personally the mellows of love of god, publicly in kirtan showing its glorious symptoms manifested on his own body, those who saw this and were favorable to this type of rare devotion only seen in Vrndavan, became His followers and gained the mercy of developing the same mood of spontaneous devotion as the residents of Vrndavan. Those in whose hearts this bhakti grew having been watered by the of kirtan went on to be authorized distributors of the same kind of devotional love. Those who became the disciples or followers of those who received this pure current of bhakti also received the same type of devotional love of God. This is the principal of disciplic succession. The Lord taught two types of devotional service, vaidi bhakti and raganuga bhakti knowing that in the future there would be persons attracted to both paths due to their personal tendencies and qualifications. More are naturally qualified for vaidi bhakti, the practice of devotional service inspired by the injunctions of the Vedas even though spontaneous devotional love is ultimately the most attractive and wonderful mode of service to God. The fewer section of persons would take to worshiping Krishna inspired by hearing about his glorious opulence or sweetness if they were fortunate to meet a genuine recipient of Lord Caitanya's vraja bhakti.

TEXT 3 Not attainable by the faithful performers of pious deeds, not understood by those engaged in austerity, meditation and yoga, not guessed by those absorbed in detachment, renunciation or prayers and unknown even to the devotees full of love for Lord Govinda, the secret of pure devotional service has been revealed by the holy name during the Lord Gaura's advent. Let me glorify that Lord Gaura. PURPORT
2

Once Lord Caitanya met a brahman in South India. The brahman had studied the glories of the holy name from the revealed scriptures since childhood. He also had been chanting the holy name of of Ram twenty four hours a day since childhood. When he associated with Lord Caitanya for just a short time he became attracted to chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra. Lord Caitanya asked him why have you given up your long practice of chanting the Holy Name the name of Rama, why are you now chanting Hare Krishna. He said to Lord Caitanya, "even though I knew the glories of chanting the Holy Name of Hare Krishna maha mantra I could not chant that Name. When You came the attraction to chanting the Holy Name of Krishna awoke in my heart." Nowadays, why don't we see the same kind of devotional love that Lord Caitanya mercifully bestowed upon the world by His personal association? Why is it that we see more performers of pious deeds, regulative bhakti, austerity, glorification of mukti, salvation, meditation and yoga? Even though we have so many books about Lord Caitanya, still we rarely see much interest in relishing these books beyond the intellectual platform. In another verse in this same book, Probhodananda Sarasvati Thakur in essence said that unless we associate with a real devotee of Lord Caitanya, one whose life and soul is Gauranga, this kind of devotional love will not awaken in our heart. Such devotees are not a product of regulated devotional service. They have received the mercy of a devotee of Lord Caitanya either in this life or a previous life. If one is not manifesting the symptoms of this devotion in this life like tears in the eyes, choking of the voice, laughter, divine jubilation, divine lamintation when one chants Lord Caitanya's lila, one must get the favor of the rare genuine associate of Lord Caitanya who manifests these symptoms in relation to his beloved Lord Caitanya.

afar, or worshiped, Sri Caitanya gives the nectar of pure love of Krsna to His devotees. Let me glorify Sri Caitanya, the merciful Supreme Personality of Godhead. PURPORT A devotee with great faith can glorify, remember, pay obeisances, or worship Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu even now, five hundred years after His disappearance and natural affectionate Love for Lord Caitanya will awaken in his heart. Proof that one is actually a devotee of Lord Caitanya is that when one hears narrations about Lord Caitanya, pure love of God will awaken and if such love does not awaken the only practical alternative is to pray for and seek out the association of a such a rare devotee. By such association one will usually become a devotee of that devotee who has deep attraction and love for Lord Caitanya, His lila, and Gauranga's real eternal associates who are the shelter of the internal devotional potency. If one cannot relish the narrations of the bygone devotees in Caitanya Bhagavata, Caitanya Charitamrita and other books about Lord Caitanya that are written by devotees then the practical alternative is to find the devotee whose heart melts upon hearing such descriptions of the Lord and hear submissively narrations of Lord Caitanya's lila from them with great faith and respect.

TEXT 5 For those who have attained the merciful sidelong glance of Lord Gaura, impersonal liberation becomes as palatable as going to hell, the heavenly cities of the demigods become as real as flowers imagined to float in the sky, the poisonous fangs of the untameable black snakes of the senses become broken, the whole world becomes full of joy, and Brahma, Indra, and all the great demigods become like tiny insects. Let us glorify that Lord Gaura.
4

PURPORT If one hears narrations about Lord Caitanya's lila and devotion for Lord Gaura awakens in his heart, one achieves the greatest spiritual happiness rarely experienced by anyone in this world. Naturally the happiness of impersonal liberation, heavenly planets, sense enjoyment, and economic development become very insignificant and one is not interested in pursuing these paths because of developing the highest taste of pure devotional love of God. The whole world is actually a divine manifestation of God and when one discovers his natural eternal soul-mate, who is the Lord Himself, one experiences a wonderful jubilation or joy that is not of this world.

TEXT 6 When Lord Gauracandra's devotees, who are worshiped even by the demigods, drink the wonderfully sweet nectar of the bliss of pure love of God that flows from the lotus flower of Lord Gauracandra's feet, they become completely intoxicated. In that condition they laugh at Lord Brahma and the other demigods, condemn the impersonalist yogis, and do not consider the great devotees of Lord Visnu who do not worship Lord Gauracandra to be very important. Let us glorify that Lord Gauracandra. PURPORT Hearing narrations of Lord Caitanya's lila is naturally spiritually intoxicating to the devotees. This of course is karma free and has no ill effects. Instead of becoming more dull-minded due to the effects of alcohol one who drinks in the intoxicating glories of Lord Caitanya's lila becomes more enlightened, free from the cycle of birth, death, and experiences a spiritual ecstatically blissful happiness rarely perceived by anyone in this world.
5

Generally most people in this world are controlled by the powerful demigods or demons, who are rulers of those influenced by the three modes of nature, goodness passion and ignorance. Lord Caitanya imparts the grace of His devotional potency through His genuine devotees. This divine potency naturally frees the devotees from being influenced and controlled by the demigods and the demons. Most people are afraid of the demigods, the demons, trying to please the former and flee from the latter. Lord Caitanya's devotees are only interested in pleasing the transcendentally awakened Lord in their heart. In this way both the demigods and the demons are pleased and benefited. The bhakti analogy, principle applies here that when one waters the root of a tree the leaves and the branches are all nourished simultaneously. The demigods and the demons are naturally nourished by the Supreme Lord. When a devotee surrenders to the service of Lord Caitanya his humble non-envious presence in this world is naturally respected by the demons and the demigods because the real devotee's nature is just like the Lord's having no hatred in their hearts for anyone.

NECTAR MOON CHAPTER 3 TEXT 15 Creating great tidal waves in the ocean of mercy, splendidly dressed in wonderful saffron garments as glorious as the sunrise, and glowing with the nectar of pure love of Krishna, may the wonderful and handsome moon of Lord Caitanya, which has risen from the milk ocean of Saci's womb, enter the sky of your heart. PURPORT Lord Caitanya's main purpose in appearing in this world was to relish devotional mellows which caused many uncommon symptoms to appear on His body as beautiful attractive ornaments. One of these ornaments is the glowing effulgence which is due to a devotees uniting with his beloved Lord and is most wonderful and purifying to see. Practically now, after the disappearance of Lord Caitanya, if one is looking for brightest light to help one cross over the vast darkness of illusion, it will be those who are true devotees of the authentic devotees in Lord Caitanyas disciplic succession. They are ornamented with the same glow and dripping nectar from loving exchanges with their beloved Lord Caitanya. Such devotees, their assistants, well-wishers and dependents by the grace of Lord Caitanya are transcendentally nourished, protected and quickly carried across the darkness of Maya. In this poetic verse the heart is compared to the sky. Just as the sky contains many things hovering in its vast territory, so the heart is contaminated by bondage to many material desires and attachments floating in the atmosphere of the heart, creating a burning, suffering condition for conditioned souls. The author is praying that Lord Caitanya, who is also experienced as His wonderful internal devotional potency becomes manifest quickly in the hearts of those who eagerly and faithfully meditate or chant these bonafide verses, instantly purifying them. Lord Caitanya is also being compared to the moon. Just like the moon has a cooling effect, causes ocean tides to rise, madness to appear in others and nourishes the growth of creepers, the appearance in the heart of this transcendental moon causes the madness of the ocean of Gaura prema to rise overflooding the boundaries of the heart, providing cooling relief to the worlds inhabitants and nourishing the growth of bhakti in all the hearts which are touched by such a inundation of Grace.

TEXT 4:20 Where is renunciation? Where is tranquil indifference to the temptations of sense pleasure or the torments of hell? Where are great waves of humbleness? Where is uncommon prowess? Where is the path of intense devotion? Where are these virtues present in the same way they are present in those who have made Lord Gaura the goal of their lives? PURPORT BY GAURAHARI DAS AVADHUTA All the great Acarya's like Jesus, his real followers, Lord Caitanya and his genuine followers all the way down the line ending with Srila Prabhupada, had the awakening of deep devotional love of God which wonderful realizations coming from a purified heart. Without the cleansing naturally results in awakening of pure devotion, one's realizations about the splendorous path of pure devotional service is unclear, muddled and speculative and this is the situation we are left with after the disappearance of a genuine acarya of pure devotion. Their realized teachings and sayings resulting from their uncommon pure devotional love are imbued with miraculous transcendental potency which naturally reduces the miseries and purifies those who respectful take them to heart. Those followers devoid of the awakening of such pure love of God can only act to preserve and maintain the body or realizations of such realized souls, like stewards of a great library. Unfortunately sometimes they end up contaminating these realizations in order to obtain their own materially motivated objectives down-grading the path to one of the lesser contaminated four human pursuits like motivated religiosity or salvation. The simple formula for perfecting ones life in this age of Kali is to make the very rarely seen in this world, Avatar of the age of Kali Yuga, Lord Caitanya, the most precious goal and primary focus of one's endeavors in life . One can do this practically if one associates and serves the
1

magnanimous confidential mission of the rare Gaura Bhaktas who are genuinely established in a transcendental relationship with Lord Caitanya already. It was from the unfathomable depth of Lord Caitanya's relishing ecstatic devotional love, way off the charts of any other divine savior, that came His uncommon deep realizations and teachings of how to obtain the furthest limits of realization of the Absolute Truth. These deep God conscious realizations, devotional mercy given to others, liberality, renunciation, nonsectarianism, waves of humbleness and uncommon prowess glorified by Prabodhananda Sarasvati, were all due to his ability to relish deep ecstatic devotional love of God making him the best of transcendental madman equal to Krishna's consort Sri Radha. A portion of this deep ecstatic love of Godhead along with its divine attributes described above are allotted to Lord Caitanya's real committed followers of His real followers. They all evince the same kind of uncommon transcendental symptoms and qualities, that cannot be imitated, due to their intense love for Lord Caitanya who is non-different from Radha and Krishna. It is they who continue the real transcendental disciplic devotional tree or disciplic succession that Lord Caitanya came to this world establish in this Kali Yuga to liberate countless conditioned souls in due course. Only these genuine Gaura Bhaktas are branches, perfect gardeners and guardians of Lord Caitanya's tree of devotion. Only they can clarify the highest goal and its most practical method of attainment among a world inhabited by various levels of weakened motivated guides who cannot purify their own heart or the hearts of others by their association. They cannot teach clearly due to severe shortage of the awakening of the kind of pure ecstatic devotional love of God that Lord Caitanya came to disperse now through his real devotees to offset Kali Yuga's terrible negative influence. Only pure devotional love arising purifies the heart and this is quickly
2

possible for those who develop faith in the path inspired by those who have the uncommon prowess to practically demonstrate by the sharing of their genuine love and deep realizations magnanimously before the world. In the spirit of Bhaktivinode Thakur in Sri Krishna Samhita such liberal magnanimous devotees are characterized, "Those who intensely desire to serve Krishna (God) keep no secrets among themselves (their small sanga) or others." Seeing this deep pure ecstatic love of God and favorable aural reception of the equally pure uncommon Krishna conscious realizations resulting from it, acts as powerful cleansing agents to purify the ignorance and speculations of those fortunate persons, be they fools or great scholars, who also take the shelter of worshiping Lord Caitanya in association of such rare Gaura Bhaktas decorating this world, who's hearts are continually purified by their love for Lord Caitanya.

CHAPTER 4 TEXT 22 They who follow the rules of varnasrama-dharma, worship Lord Visnu, visit holy pilgrimage places, and study the Vedas, but do not serve the lotus feet of the dear devotees of Lord Gaura, cannot understand the transcendental abode of Vrndavana, which is beyond the reach of the four Vedas. PURPORT The direct path to Vrndavana is explained in many subtle and overt ways in this wonderful book. One simply needs to be able to recognize the symptoms of a real devotee of Lord Caitanya and engage in hearing confidential revelations, narrations, instructions in regards to Lord Caitanya's lila and engage in service to the confidential mission that they are naturally engaged in due to their intimate loving relationship with Lord Gaura. There is no greater privilege than to be an assistant of a devotee engaged in the service of Lord Caitanya. Very quickly the symptoms of pure devotion awaken in the heart of such sincere servants of the servants of Lord Caitanya. Unfortunately even though the path to Vrndavana and its details is clearly revealed in this verse as well as the whole book few have the eyes to perceive it due to the influence of the Lord's Maya. The door to gaining a clear perception of Lord Caitanya's path of devotion is submissive hearing and service to the spiritually empowered representatives of the disciplic succession who manifest more or less the uncommon qualities revealed in this chapter. Such representatives may be madyhama devotees, qualified with the symptoms of awakened love for God, who act as teachers or Gurus, or the rarely seen divinely effulgent perfected uttama Vaishnavas who are the actual delivers of the conditioned souls regardless of whether they adopt an official position inside or outside the varnasrama system or not.

In the fourth chapter of Caitanya Charitamrita it is explained, "The transcendental mellows generated from the dealings between the gops and Krishna cannot be tasted by means of fruitive activity, yogic austerities, speculative knowledge, regulative devotional service, mantrayoga or meditation. This sweetness can be tasted only through the spontaneous love of liberated persons who chant the holy names with great ecstatic love. (CC Madhya 21.119) This priceless jewel is acquired by close association with those who chant the Holy Names with uncommon devotional ecstatic symptoms that are described in the Sastras and especially the lila of Lord Caitanya. Lord Caitanya once told His devotee, Damodar, who worshiped Him in great awe and veneration, to keep his younger brother Shankar close to him. Damodar responded in an ideal way befitting the non-envious by saying that his younger brother was now his older brother and guru due to Lord Caitanyas special mercy upon him. It does no good to be jealous or competitive with a god-brother who is manifesting symptoms of spontaneous devotional love. The way we receive the initiation of this pure devotion in our own hearts is simply by favorable submissive service and association with such a devotee who the Lord has claimed as His own and as being personal extension of His own body. Lord Caitanya bestows his mercy through such fortunate devotees and one will rarely get spontaneous love of God in any other way.

NECTAR MOON CHAPTER 4 TEXT 30 Even without following any religious rituals, one who wholeheartedly takes shelter of Lord Gauranga, the master of all transcendental opulences, will attain everything he might wish. PURPORT Why are not more persons whole-heartedly taking shelter of Lord Caitanya, who easily bestows the transcendental treasure of the mellows of devotion, whether they strictly follow religious rituals or not? Why do we not see more of the symptoms of the transcendental treasure of bhava or premabhakti that Lord Caitanya descended to distribute appearing in the bodies of many Vaishnavas? The secret is only partially revealed in this verse yet an intelligent person will find more of the complete answer in text 22 of this 4th chapter and then we will attempt clarify the situation even more. In text 22 it says,"Those who do not serve the lotus feet of the dear devotees of Lord Gaura cannot understand the transcendental abode of Vrndavana, which is beyond the reach of the four Vedas." And in the first chapter of Caitanya Charitamrita, Krishna says, "Just know the Acarya is my very Self." The confidential truth is that God appears in the form of His intimate servant and bestows His grace in the form of transcendental loving attachment to both the Spiritual Master and Himself. Most are not yet qualified to take shelter of Lord Caitanya directly, and if anyone tries to it just demonstrates one not yet clear on the actual process of approaching Lord Caitanya's shelter which all who have a transcendental relationship with Him undertand. Taking shelter of the narrations of Lord Caitanya's glories written by actual devotees as well as associating( Sadhu Sanga) with Lord Caitanya's physically present devotees who envince the symptoms of a genuine loving relationship with Him is the key or door one must enter to be completely delivered from the Lord's Maya. Another doubt may appear because of the above conclusions. The recent acaryas like Bhaktivinode Thakur, Bhaktisiddhanta, and A.C. Bhaktivedanta were intimate associates of Lord Caitanya, therefore, why did they distribute and teach more or less vaidi bhakti (regulative devotional service) and not distribute the transcendental opulence of spontaneous devotional attachment to Krishna in the mood of the Vrajabasis? Just like God established a foundation for the Biblical disciplic succession by giving
1

first rules and regulations through his empowered servant Moses before dispensing spontaneous loving devotion through Jesus, Lord Caitanya first inspired our recent acaryas to lay the foundation for the masses to enter the devotional path according to their present qualification. It stands to reason that in due course Lord Caitanya will send or inspire His favored more intimate servitors to distribute the mellows of pure devotional service through those who will develop faith in the more rare spontaneously attracted devotees teachings, instructions and especially their ecstatic, enchanting talks about Gaura/Krishna's pastimes. Their influence on the surface may appear novel or not conforming rigidly to the hardened mold of previous traditions, yet in truth they are inspired to impart the deeper purport or revelation of the revealed scriptures that the more neophyte devotees cannot understand unless they develop faith in the Lords current messages appearing through these bonafide messengers. There are some interesting parallels shedding light on the way the Supreme Lord exclusively dispenses deeper revelations and confidential information about Himself through his intimate favored servants who worship him on the path of spontaneous love in the New Testament. Jesus said, "My Father has given me all things. No person knows the Son--only the Father knows the Son. And no person knows the Father--only the Son knows the Father. And the only people that will know about the Father are those people the Son chooses to tell." Matthew 11:27 As was with Jesus and all saints not everyone, especially proud religious leaders, are willing to hear from the empowered messengers that the Lord or the bonafide Guru sends forth, as pride, competition and envy blinds them. They fear that they will lose their positions, wealth and prestige. Therefore, generally the poor and the innocent are better candidates to hear first and then when the pride of the proud is dismantled they can see their true interest is served by faith in the message of the spiritually empowered.

NECTAR MOON CHAPTER 7 TEXT 60 My faith in Vedic and ordinary duties, my embarrassment to sing, dance and laugh, and my natural tendency to be absorbed in material activities, have all been stolen away by a very powerful golden-complexioned thief. PURPORT The Glory of Lord Caitanyas mercy is gained practically now after his disappearance through the association of his authentic devotees who naturally manifest these liberated and liberal qualities. A good way to understand this mood and mentality is through the examples of the disciples of Jesus who gained Gods mercy to be raised above the regulative platform of worship in awe and reverence by their faith in Jesus as being an authorized representative of God sent to free all who would take His shelter. He is an exalted son of God whose purpose in coming was to set the worlds captives free, dispense the outpouring of God's confidential Spirit or in other words please the Lord to awaken in His devotees hearts. Jesus said that He was the Lord of even the Sabbath and his disciples felt so confident and liberated by having taken shelter of God's confidential devotee that without consideration they broke the rules of the Sabbath by harvesting corn and eating it. The Pharisees were shocked and criticized them and Jesus said their sins remained and they would die taking them with them. Anyone who sincerely took the shelter of Jesus was relieved from sin. They were bound by the rules simply because they did not have developed intelligence, attraction or willingness to take shelter of a devotee who could set them free and free them also of blind following and worship of God according to the rules and regulations of the scriptures. The same applies to the associates of Lord Caitanya, anyone who assists them in their work in this world gains a greater treasure of even a more intimate platform of worship of the supreme Lord regardless of their having followed millions of rules and regulations or none at all. Srivas Thakurs whole family and household servants including a Muslim beef-eating tailor received the mercy of becoming intimate associates of Lord Caitanya. A dog that followed Shivanda sena attained the spiritual world simply following his benefactor. Is this hard to believe?
1

It is even harder to recognize an associate of Lord Caitanya as they often appear as ordinary persons or unpretentious neophyte devotees to the outer world. Kavikarnapura revealed the secret of how to identify an associate of Lord Caitanya in his play Chaitanya-Chandrodaya and this applies even now: Lord Caitanyas eternally associates descended to this world in guise of ordinary men yet bearing the only main identifying mark of natural affectionate love for Lord Caitanya. In another purport we cleared up the doubt that could naturally arise why our recent acaryas did not set the masses of devotees free who took shelter of them and will sum it up here again. God chooses and inspires His representatives to teach what platform of devotional service He considers appropriate for the time, place and circumstances and our recent acarya A.C. Bhaktivedanta more or less taught the path of worshiping Krishna according to the rules and regulations of the scriptures. To begin to understand the Supreme Lords logic we can see in the biblical disciplic succession, God inspired Moses to first set down the foundation of the laws, rules and regulations for His worship and later Jesus came to fulfill the law by elevating those who were eager to the platform of worshiping God out of loving devotion and not exclusively due to fear of Gods wrath for not doing so. There is another example in Krishnas pastimes of this pattern of liberating souls in successive stages. Mathura was under the control of Kamsas tyranny. Many of the Lords devotees were repressed, suppressed and depressed because of it just like devotees nowadays who are being controlled by regulations imposed by motivated hypocritical religious leaders of crafty intelligence who are not yet in possession of a pure heart and act for their own self-interest. At a certain point when the devotees in the kingdom of Kamsa were in desperation and eager for Krishna's association and to be liberated from tyranny of the demoniac, Krishna from Vrndavana came to Mathura with Balarama and the cowherd boys and slayed Kamsa and His personal presence naturally increased the affection and love of the residents of Mathura to the platform of spontaneous devotion with knowledge of the Lords majestic opulence. The stage for a similar kind of scenario has been set after the departure of the recent acarya. The unqualified take control, the devotees suffer and are oppressed. When such devotees finally lose faith in those who cannot liberate them, the acarya will appear who carries Lord Caitanya, Nityananda, and the disciplic succession with him affectionately bonded in his heart. Just like it was with Jesus, Lord Caitanya and his associates, for those who have faith and serve the confidential mission they are
2

naturally engaged in, the great treasure of spontaneous love for God will appear in their heart delivering them from bondage and tyranny of Maya. It is obvious and logical that Lord Caitanya took the same strategy with our recent acaryas to set the foundation for His worship according to the regulations of the scriptures and that in the next phase the Lord will empower and inspire one or more persons to institute and teach the raganuga platform of devotional service to those who are eager and favorable to receive the teachings and hear the confidential pastimes of the Lord in their association. How will we know the signs and symptoms of such uncommon preceptors? Their internal mood and qualities will match what we read in this verse regardless whether or not they are following indifferently rules and regulations as an example for others or disregarding those rules that interfere with their spontaneously inspired service to propagate Lord Caitanyas mission. Bhaktivinode Thakur in his Sri Krishna Samhita said, It is the prerogative of paramahamsa Vaishnavas (spontaneous devotees who received the mercy of Lord Caitanya) whether or not they follow the rules and regulations of the sastras. Srila Prabhupada also said in Nectar of Devotion, A pure devotee does not follow the rules and regulations strictly." If one is not happy with a devotee who is experiencing such freedom then ones own possibility of gaining such a position is curtailed because by criticizing such devotees one loses their valuable association. The powerful demigod criticized Lord Shiva for not following strictly the rules and regulations and he fell from his position and his goathead represented his stupidity for judging Lord Shiva. Anyone who receives the mercy of the devotee of Lord Caitanya becomes as good qualitatively and as free as Lord Shiva who also loves to sing and dance like a madman.

NECTAR MOON CHAPTER 11 TEXT 133 The demigods sounded dundubhi drums, the Gandharvas and the Siddhas covered the earth with a continual shower of flowers, and the sages affectionately recited eloquent prayers as Lord Gauracandra, maddened with pure love of Krishna, enthusiastically danced in this world. PURPORT Lord Caitanya personally demonstrated the worship of Vrndavana mood of rapturously worshiping Krishna publicly before the eyes of everyone. Such joyous enthusiastic worship of the Supreme Lord has rarely been publically relished and displayed in this world. Everyone is looking for happiness. The Lord and His associates showed everyone and transmitted this exuberant devotional happiness to the poor depressed and suppressed world. The demigods rejoiced to see this.

NECTAR MOON CHAPTER 12 TEXT 138 Somewhere people are indifferent to material activities, somewhere people chant mantras and practice austerities and yoga, somewhere people are engaged in devotional service mixed with jnana and somewhere the splendid path of pure devotional service is present in name only. O Lord Chaitanya, where have you gone? I do not anywhere see the path of pure devotional service. PURPORT Soon after the disappearance of Lord Chaitanya, the ecstatic pure devotional love that Lord Chaitanya taught simply by relishing devotional mellows of v raja bhakti of the residents of Vrndavana headed by Krishna's beloved consort Radharani, became quite rare but did not completely disappear. The movement and propagation of this rare devotional current or vraja bhakti was continued through the close associates of Lord Chaitanya, like goswamis of Vrndavana or the recipients of their mercy such as Krishnadas Kaviraja, Narottam, Srinivasa and Syamananda prabhus. In this way the Lord taught the importance of a living devotee in the flesh to teach the mysterious and glorious path of raganuga bhakti. Krishnadas Kaviraja taught, " It is not possible to teach vraja bhakti without practicing it oneself." A doubt may arise in the minds of some who believe that reading or chanting out loud devotional books written by God-realized souls is enough to awaken the devotional potency in the heart? It depends on the qualification of the person reading those books. If one has fulfilled the requirement gaining the mercy of the Supreme Lord through a realized soul in this life or a previous life then it is possible. Out of so many persons who bath in the Ganges River it was only Narottam who was qualified to draw out the spontaneous love that was stored there by Lord Chaitanya. It is said that Bhaktivinode Thakur upon reading Chaitanya Charitamrita for the first time experienced mellows of devotion deposited in that book for the happiness of advanced Vaishnavas awaken in his heart. Rare devotees can experience the immediate awakening of devotion being in touch with the Holy Name, sacred rivers, holy places or the book bhagavata, but neophytes cannot and need to hear from and engage in the service of the mission of a living example of devotion.
