Jurong Port
is an international multi-purpose port operator headquartered in Singapore; it handles general, bulk and containerized cargo.
Jurong port was set up by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) in 1963 to support the growth of Singapores first and biggest industrial estate, Jurong Industrial Estate. In 1965, the port officially commenced operations handling general and bulk cargo. In 1968, Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) was established to drive the industrial estate development in Singapore and Jurong Port became a business division under JTC. On January 1, 2001, Jurong Port was corporatised and became a fully-owned subsidiary of JTC Corporation. Jurong Ports container terminal commenced operations in mid 2001. Today, Jurong Port handles a wide variety of cargo of all nature. The port has a global direct connectivity to over 80 ports in 45 countries. This sale of some of our container-handling equipment is part of the ports overall strategy to diversify its business in Singapore.
