On Friday, the Egyptian military overthrew a hard-line Islamist, theocratic ideologue, terrorist supporter and despot without firing

a single shot. Ignorance and a complete lack of understanding for the rule of law are already being displayed by prominent members of the Republican Party. Senator John McCain and other irrelevant, misguided, and future ex-members of congress have made statements tipping their hand as to how absolutely out of touch they are with reality. Because a coup is popularly seen as a violent overthrow of a sitting ruling structure, the majority of uninformed individuals are instantly and automatically denouncing and/or doubting the move. While overthrowing an oppressive government is ideally the last option in a "democracy" the entire system is based on the fact that the people empower themselves through constitutions to do exactly that at any time. Our idleness in regards to protecting liberty and comfort in our current system has spawned ignorance in regards to the concept of the "rule of a higher law". There is a disconnect when it comes to the basic idea that just because something is legal, it is not necessarily right, and just because something is illegal, it is not necessarily wrong. Even if a system is set up through a "democratic process" with "full participation" that does not mean that it cannot and should not be overthrown when it turns despotic. Our representatives are so in love with an idea of some democratic "system" and "process" that they condemn sovereign nations for taking back their God given freedoms and liberties. Is not a dictatorship allowing complete freedom and liberty as morally righteous as a representative republic if the people want it? Where is this democracy playbook? Where is this instruction manual? Each populace yearning for freedom has different circumstances, to include moral standards, education standards, infrastructure, trade barriers, regional influence, sectarian violence, economic stability, and level of commitment. What is the difference between our glorious revolution and a military coup? Did we not turn to our military leaders to dispose of our oppressive rulers? Why is there such quick condemnation of similar circumstances? Not only are the people of Egypt not abolishing all ties with the opposition as we did with Britain, they are openly calling for unity and coexistence, a much more difficult and peaceful path than our own. They could easily arm themselves and demand separate states for secularists and hard line Islamists, or even worse, root out the religious extremists and their ignorant followers by force. They are not, so why the condemnation? Is this condemnation by the likes of McCain an opposition to an overthrow of a legitimate president of a representative republic? Or is it Mr.McCains uh oh moment? Did he wake up and realize now that it is feasible for an educated people to take back their government without elections and violence, and still be seen as righteous? When soldiers and public officials take their posts, they must swear to "defend the constitution of the United States from all enemies, both foreign and domestic" they do not swear to preserve democracy, or the popularly elected president. The constitution is the key, because IT is the nation. IT is the people. Its not the piece of paper that is being defended it is the ideas and principles it stands for. It is inherent in the oath that by defending the constitution, your are defending the people, and their freedoms, which is the entire purpose of the job. If it wasn't obvious, there would be a sentence that read "I will protect the citizens from bodily harm". I challenge Mr. McCain to reread the words of his own people before issue any more statements:"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the

opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation." "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security"(Declaration of Independence) BOOM!
