General Charles Gordon once asked Li Hung Chan, a leaders in China, two questions: What is leadership? And how is humanity divided? Li Hung replied: There are only three kinds of people those who are immovable, those who are movable, and those who move them!

If you were trying to create a Spiritual Leader how would you build one? Your goal is to create a person of influence who understands Gods direction and leaders other on that path. At the same time we must understand our role is somewhat limited. Spiritual leaders are not elected, appointed, or created by synods or churchly assemblies. God alone makes them. Pg 18 Spiritual Leadership Therefore, it is important to note that this study involves much more than an understanding of leadership. It must come with a heart that allows God to qualify us to be leaders.

Components of Spiritual Leadership Spirit of Servanthood 1. Dependence on God (Surrender of privileges and rights) 2. Approval (Recognized that God enjoyed them and they enjoy God) 3. Modesty (humble service) 4. Empathy (sympathetic with the weak, etc.) 5. Optimism (Gods ideal servant is optimistic until every part of Gods work is done. 6. Administration- to improve the character of the work. Spiritual tone- to deepen the piety, devotion, and success of the workers. Group morale- to remove stones of stumbling. Personal relationships- to oil the wheels where they stick. Problem solving- to amend what is defective. Creative planning- to supplement what is lacking. What areas are your strong suits and what areas do you need the most help?
