Unless otherwise stated in this bill of quantities, the items included are measured according to the SMM7 measurement
In particular, unless otherwise specifically stated in a bill of quantities or herein, the following shall be deemed to be included with all items; Labour and all costs in connection therewith - Materials, goods and all costs in connection therewith - Assembling, fitting and fixing materials and goods in position including all setting out - Plant and all costs in connection therewith - Waste of materials - Square cutting - Establishment charges, overhead charges and profit Costs for works and services described in the various work sections that are necessary in the execution of the works by the Contractor are to be incorporated in the tender rates of the relevant sections. Protection of finished works such that these are not damaged by the works in progress. The cited quantities are to be considered as provisional and may be changed depending on site requirements Any claims for variations in terms of rates and quantities are subject to the approval of the Engineer in charge. Variations that are not endorsed by the Engineer shall not be accepted. Double Handling: The Contractor shall allow for such extra costs in his rates and / or lump sums. No additional claims from the contractor for double handling shall be accepted Unless mentioned otherwise, all rates include for supply of materials, labour, hire and use of equipment and tools (electrical power tools included) hire and use of scaffolding, preparation works, cleaning etc. to ensure a complete and finished job. Dust Generation: All tools and / or equipment that usually generates dust while in operation, shall be fitted with a vacum device to minimize dust generation - wherever used It is assumed that the tenderer has visited the site and made the necessary inspection, familiarised himself with the works and has allowed a provision for the complete installation of the works. All material / debris resulting from demolition shall become the property of the contractor, and include carting away to a dumping site approved by the relevant authorities. The rates shall include for handling of all materials, cranage, hire and use of chute

COST OF PRELIMINARIES TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RATES. D30 PILING General Notes:

Construction and testing of piles shall be as stipulated in the specifications D30. Reference should also be made to the geotechnical investigation report. Particular attention is drawn to the following specifications/ conditions. On completion of boring, loose, disturbed or softened soil shall be removed from the bore hole using appropriate methods. The Contractor is to ensure that the bottom of the bore hole is clean and free from debris and any cohesive material. Prior to concrete placement the cleanliness and condition of the bore hole shall be checked by the use of a socket inspection device. All material resulting from excavations shall include carting away to an authorised dumping site to be approved by the Engineer and relevant authorities. Rate to include disposal of resulting material off site including dumping tax. Temporary & permanent casings shall be made of steel, length and thickness (3mm minimum thickness) adequate for the purpose of preventing water - in the case of the temporary casing - and unstable soil from entering the pile excavations. For casing perforations refer to the drawings. Casing shall be cylindrical and without any significant longitudinal or diametrical distortion. In unstable bores casing shall be maintained in advance of boring. Measurers are to be taken to prevent uncontrolled inflow of water and/or soil into the bore. Rig standing time shall be measured only where specifically authorised by the Engineer. Rates are deemed to include for any construction and removal of ramps as required by the contractor for excavations works. Controling and Monitoring the Verticality and Alignment of Piles The Contractor shall submit a detailed method statement and procedures for controlling and monitoring the verticality and alignment of piles for the Engineer's approval before commencement of pile installation. During the pile installation, tolerance for verticality of each pile shall be frequently checked as directed by the Engineer. In case the deviation exceeding the allowable tolerance, the Contractor shall propose method of rectification for the Engineer's approval prior to further pile installation.

Where the ground conditions differ from those stipulated in the design, appropriate action should be taken in agreement with the engineer. For details and proposed method of construction of piles Refer to drawings: Attached

D30 PILING (Cont.)

General Notes Cont.: The Concrete for piles shall: Have a high resistance against segregation be of high plasticity and good cohesioness have good flowability have the ability to self compact be sufficiently for the duration of the placement procedure, including the removal of any temporary casings Concrete mixes for piling are to be tested for cube crushing, workability and other charateristics as stipulated in the specifications prior to any concreting of piles. These mixes have to be approved by the engineer. Concreting is to be carried out by the use of a tremie pipe - the tremie pipe including all its joints, shall be water tight - concrete pumping should be carried out through the tremie pipe. Pumping hose is to be placed in the tremie.

Initial Concrete shall be poured directly from Top of Pile, so as to create a bell formation as in drawings. Amount to be poured in such way, shall be as directed by Architect in change

Submerged concrete shall be compacted by internal vibration. Suitably qualified and experienced person shall be in charge of the execution of the work.

Spacers around the reinforcement cage shall be placed at intervals of not more than 3.0m and at least three in number should be placed at each level.

Bored piles (4 nr) Temporary casings Driving down cylindrical mild steel (minimum 3mm thickness) temporary casing to prepare for augering; internal diameter 0.60m; including the subsequent removal of temporary casing as directed by Architect & Civil Engineer.

Length varying for each borehole - around 4.00m in length

16

Boring/Augering B Boring or augering in temporary casing: an internal pile diameter 0.60m; any type of rock/material; average depth 4.00m below existing road level. Excavation C Excavate 1.4m x 1.4m x 0.5m deep area around pile location, including the removal of kerbs. Paving blocks should be stored to be re-used later.
