RECAP: The Rainiers scored 3 runs in the 4th inning and held onto an early 6-2 lead after 5
innings as Tacoma defeated Tucson in the rubber match 6-5 on Wednesday night. SS Carlos
Triunfel (3x4, R, 2B, 3B) fell a home run short of hitting for the cycle, while leading the team with 3
hits. 2B Ty Kelly (2x3, R, 2B, 2 BB) and 1B Nate Tenbrink (2x4, 2 R) each recorded 2 of the
Rainiers 11 hits. Starter Brian Sweeney (6.1,8,4,4,1,5) recorded his 8th win of the season in a spot
start, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits in 6.1 innings. Reliever RH Jonathan Arias (0.2,3,0,0,0,0), LH Brian
Moran (0.1,2,1,1,0,0) and RH Logan Bawcom (1.2,0,0,0,0,2) combined to allow only 1 run over
the final 2.2 innings. Bawcom recorded his 16th save of the season, retiring the final 5 batters in
order. He has tossed more than an inning in 5 of his 16 saves this season.
OF NOTE: Tacoma owns a 4.0-game lead over Colorado Springs and Salt Lake in the PCL Pacific
Northern Division. The Rainiers have now owned the top spot in the division for 38 consecutive
games (since May 31). It marks the longest Tacoma has held that position since holding down first
place for 41 consecutive games, June 29-August 13, 2010. OF Stefen Romero has hit safely in a
career-high 10 straight games with 4 multi-hit contests, batting .386 (17x44) with 7 runs scored, 4
doubles, 1 home run and 13 RBI. He is the first Rainiers player to hit two or more grand slams in a
season since Mike Carp hit two in 2010 (5/11 at New Orleans & 7/8 at Tucson). 1B Rich
Poythress has hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games, batting .357 (10x28) with 3 runs scored, 2
doubles and 4 RBI. INF Ty Kelly has hit safely in 6 of 9 games he has appeared with Tacoma with
5 multi-hit contests, batting .452 (14x31) with 9 runs scored, 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 6 RBI and 9
walks. OF Carlos Peguero currently has a 7-game hit streak, batting .345 (10x29) with 4 runs
scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBI and 3 walks. RHP Logan Bawcom has tossed 6.1 scoreless
innings over his last 5 relieaf appearances, including recording a save in each of those outings. He
currently leads all Mariners farmhands with 16 saves. LHP James Paxton recorded a season-high
11 strikeouts on June 22 vs. Fresno. It marked his 9th career start recording at least 10 strikeouts
(last: 11, 5/13/13 at New Orleans). RHP Taijuan Walker tossed 14.0 scoreless innings over his first
3 AAA starts, before allowing a solo home run in the 5th inning on July 7 at Salt Lake. Overall he is
2-0 with a 0.56 ERA (1 ER, 16.0 IP) in 3 starts with Tacoma. He has limited opponents to a .186
(11x59) average, while walking 5 and striking out 16. Walker is currently the youngest player in the
PCL this season and 2nd-youngest in Triple-A. He made his Triple-A debut vs. Fresno on June 25
at Cheney Stadium (W, 6.0,3,0,0,2,4). Walker is the youngest Rainiers pitcher to make his Triple-A
debut since a 19-year-old Felix Hernandez on April 8, 2005 at Fresno. LH Bobby LaFromboise
has yet to allow an earned run over 26 appearances (40.2 IP) at Cheney since his Tacoma debut,
June 20, 2012. The Rainiers collected the teams 50th win on Tuesday in their 86th game of the
season. Last season, the 2012 Tacoma squad did not reach the 50-win mark until August 5 in the
teams 116th game played. Tacoma is the first time in the PCL to reach 50 wins, and the 4th in
Triple-A.
COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT: LH James Paxton tossed his first career shutout as the Tacoma
Rainiers blanked the Tucson Padres 7-0 at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday night.
Paxton limited the Padres to 5 hits, all singles, and walked 2 with 4 strikeouts over a career-high
9.0 innings of work.James Paxtons 9.0-inning shutout win on Monday was the first recorded by a
Rainiers pitcher since fellow LH Chris Seddon tossed 9.0 scoreless frames in a win at Colorado
Springs on June 15, 2010. Prior to Monday, the longest start of Paxtons career was 7.0 innings
(Aug. 12, 2011 vs. Huntsville).
PCL ALL-STAR TEAM: LHP Brian Moran and OF Carlos Peguero have been selected to
represent the PCL in the 2013 Dolan Auto Group Triple-A All-Star Game. This years event, which
pits PCL All-Stars against All-Stars from the International League, is scheduled to be played on
Wednesday, July 17th at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada. Moran, 24, earned his first All-Star
selection in his second season with the Rainiers. The left-hander leads Tacomas ranks second
among PCL relievers after producing a rate of 12.73 strikeouts per nine innings pitched this season.
Peguero, 26, is also set to make his first Triple-A All-Star appearance in his 8th season since
signing with the Mariners as a non-drafted free agent in 2005. This season marks the 2nd in as
many years that the Rainiers have had 2 players featured in the Triple-A All-Star Game.

OF NOTE: The first 2 games of a 7.0-inning game set with Tennessee did not go Jacksons direction, as the Smokies took both against the
Generals with scores of 7-2 and 5-2. The first game was the completion of the June 28th game between the two teams that was cancelled
because of rain. Jacksons season-high 4-game win streak was brought to an end with the loss. In game, 3B Ramon Morla (2x3, R, 2B)
recorded the teams only multi-hit game, while LF Jack Marder (1x2, RBI) and DH Leon Landry (1x2, RBI, BB) each knocked in 1 of the
Generals 2 runs. Starter Chance Ruffin (1.1,4,2,2,1,0) recorded his 3rd loss of the season, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.1 innings. RH
Moises Hernandez (4.1,7,4,4,2,1) and RH Andrew Kittredge (0.1,2,1,1,0,1) combined to allow 5 runs over the final 5.2 innings in relief. In
game 2, SS Chris Taylor (1x3, R, HR, RBI, BB) hit a lead off home run to give Jackson an early 1-0 lead. Taylor, 2B Gabriel Noriega

OF NOTE: SS Chris Taylor has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games with 6 multi-hit outings, batting batting .405 (17x42) with 8 runs
scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 5 RBI, 3 stolen bases and 6 walks. Overall he has hit safely in 15 of 19 games after being
promoted to Jackson from High Desert, batting .310 (22x71) with 12 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 5 RBI, 11 walks and 5
stolen bases. Taylor recorded his 100th hit of the season on June 30 vs. Birmingham. He was the first Mariners farmhand to record at least
100 hits. After allowing 5 runs over his first 6 appearances of the season, RH Carson Smith has allowed only 4 earned runs over his last
22 relief appearances. During this stretch he is 0-1 with 6 saves and a 1.57 ERA (4 ER, 23.0 IP). Since April 22, Smith has lowered his
ERA from 8.44 to 2.76. Smith has struck out at least 1 batter in 25 of 28 games, including recording 12 strikeouts over his last 6
appearances. LH Kyle Hunter has held oppoents scoreless in 18 of 22 relief appearances this season. Overall he is 1-0 with 1 save and a
1.44 ERA (5 ER, 31.1 IP). He has limited opponents to a .209 (24x115), while walking 7 and striking out 19. RH Tyler Burgoon has

including 8 outings with at least 3 strikeouts.
SOUTHERN LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM: OF Julio Morban and OF James Jones will represent Jackson on the North Division roster for
the 2013 Southern League All-Star Game, which is scheduled for July 17 at Bragan Field at Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. RHP
Taijuan Walker was also selected to the roster, but is unable to play due to his recent promotion to AAA Tacoma. Players were selected
by a vote of Southern League field managers, radio broadcasters, general managers and print media. All players on Southern League
rosters as of June 12 were eligible in the voting.

RECAP: DH Daniel Paolini hit his 14th home run of the season in the 7th inning, but it wasnt enough as High Desert lost to Rancho
Cucamonga 1-2 on Wednesday night. Paolini (2x4, R, HR, RBI) led the team with 2 hits, while CF Jamal Austin (1x4), 2B Patrick Brady
(1x4), LF Jabari Blash (1x3, BB) and 3B Patrick Kivlehan (1x3, BB) each recorded 1 of the teams 6 hits. LH Cam Hobson (5.0,1,1,1,5,2)
recorded the loss, allowing 1 run on 1 hit and 5 walks in 5.0 innings. LH Bobby Shore (3.0,1,1,1,1,3,HR) allowed a solo home run in the
bottom of the 6th inning, but held the Quakes scoreless in the 7th and 8th innings.
OFNOTE: DH Daniel Paolini currently has a 5-game hit streak, batting .350 (7x20) with 4 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 home run, 3 RBI and 2
walks. He has also his safely in 7 of his last 8 games with 4 multi-hit games, batting .355 (11x34) with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 home
runs, 4 RBI and 6 walks. After allowing 9 runs in his first 11.2 innings with the Maverick, Dominic Leone has only 2 earned runs over his
last 25.2 innings in relief (0.70 ERA). During this stretch he has limited opponents to a .188 (16x85) average, while walking 5 and striking
out 32. Since May 9, he has lowered his ERA from 6.23 to 2.56. RH David Colvin has allowed only 4 earned runs over his last 21.0
innings in relief (1.71 ERA). He has struck out at least 1 batter in 22 of 24 appearances this season (46), including 10 straight games with a
strikeout (18). INF OF Jamal Austin has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games with an at-bat, batting .348 (16x46) with 9 runs scored, 2
doubles, 5 RBI, 5 walks and 4 stolen bases. 3B Patrick Kivlehan has hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games, batting .435 (10x23) with 6 runs
scored, 1 RBI, 7 walks and 1 stolen base. OF Jabari Blash has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games with an at-bat, batting .324 (12x37) with 5

RECAP: SS Ketel Marte recorded 3 hits and 1B Taylor Ard knocked in 2 runs as Clinton defeated West Michigan 6-1 on Wednesday
night. Marte (3x5, 2 R, RBI) and DH Dario Pizzano (2x4, 2 R, BB) each recored multi-hit contests, while Ard (1x3, 2B, RBI), 3B Jordy Lara
(1x4, RBI), RF Gabriel Guerrero (1x3, R, 2B, BB), CF Janelfry Zorrilla (1x3, R, BB) and 2B Timmy Lopes (1x4, RBI) each contributed to
the LumberKings 10 hits. Starter Charles Kaalekahi (5.0,4,1,1,3,4) earned his 3rd win of the season, allowing 1 run on 4 hitsin 4.0 innings.
Relievers LH Blake Holovach (2.0,1,0,0,0,2), RH Richard Vargas (1.0,1,0,0,1,1) and RH Oliver Garcia (1.0,1,0,0,0,1) combined to

games with the AZL Mariners. Montero under went surgery by Dr. Edward Khalfayan, the Mariners medical director, to repair a tear of the
meniscus in his left knee. Montero, 23, was optioned to AAA Tacoma in the Pacific Coast League on May 22. In seven games with the
Rainiers he was hitting .250 (7x28) with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 2 RBI. His last game was May 29 at Colorado Springs. Montero hit .208
(21x101) with 6 runs scored, 1 double, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 9 RBI in 29 games with the Mariners this season. The Mariners were 1510 in games when Montero started behind the plate. Montero hit .206 in April (17 games), and was hitting .211 in May (12 games). His 3
home runs all came in Felix Hernandez starts, including a go-ahead solo blast May 8 at Pittsburgh off A.J. Burnett.

Seattle Mariners minor league pitcher Taijuan Walker and shortstop Brad Miller have been selected to play for the U.S. squad in the 15th
annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game to be played July 14 at Citi Field in New York City (11 a.m. PT/ESPN2, ESPN2 HD and MLB.com,
MLB Network Radio) as part of All-Star weekend.This is Walkers second consecutive selection on the All-Star Futures roster.
INF Ji-Man Choi has been added to the World team as a replacement for Rangers catcher Jorge Alfaro, who broke his hand when he was
hit by a pitch on Friday. SS Brad Miller was replaced on the U.S. team by D-backs shortstop Chris Owings, since Miller won't be eligible to
play now that he's on the Major League roster.
Tacoma Rainiers hitting coach Howard Johnson will be part of the U.S. coaching staff.
The Mariners have had 30 selections to the Futures Game since its first beginning in 1999. Three players on the current 25-man roster
