SECTION 16760 INTERCOM SYSTEMS

PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 SECTION INCLUDES A. B. 1.2 voice/video Intercom equipment. Cables for Intercom System.

SUBMITTALS A. B. C. Shop Drawings: Indicate cable routing and connections. Submit product data for each item of equipment. Submit manufacturer's installation instructions.

OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA A. B. Operation Data: Include instructions for routine operation of Intercom System. Maintenance Data: Include instructions for minor troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and cleaning.

QUALIFICATIONS A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in this Section with minimum 5 years documented experience. Supplier: Company authorized by manufacturer and specializing in supplying products specified in this Section with minimum 5 years documented experience. Installer: Company specializing in installing the products specified in this Section with minimum 5 years documented experience.

MAINTENANCE A. Provide maintenance of intercom system for one year from Date of Substantial Completion.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 INTERCOM SYSTEM A. Description: Private voice/video communication between locations of which as indicated on Drawings.

Configuration: Direct-connected, multiple conversation paths, intercom system. System Capacity: One master station; one speaker/microphone & with built-in camera located station. Conversation Paths: Two. Sequence of Operation: Master selects any other speaker/microphone station. Incoming calls from remote station are annunciated by light and momentary audible signal.

DIRECT CONNECTED, KEYED MASTER INTERCOM STATION A. B. Description: Surface wall-mounted master intercom unit. Intercom Amplifier: 2 watts rated output with less than 5 percent total harmonic distortion, frequency response of 100 to 10,000 Hz plus or minus 3 dB, minimum 60 dB signal-to-noise ratio at rated output. Speaker Sensitivity: Not less than 92 dB. Input Sensitivity: Provide adequate input sensitivity to deliver rated amplifier output when no more than 10 dyne per square centimeter impinge on speaker/microphone. Handset: Standard molded plastic telephone handset with 1.5 m long permanently coiled cord. Minimum Controls and Indicators: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. G. Power On-Off selector switch and indicator lamp. Lighted annunciator lamp for each master and speaker/microphone station. Audible signal for incoming calls. Called-Station-Busy indicator lamp. Remote selector switches connect master directly to remote stations. Voice-actuated electronic switch sets Talk/Listen mode. Incoming calls actuate annunciator lamp and momentary buzzer. Privacy switch turns off microphone.

SPEAKER/MICROPHONE INTERCOM UNITS A. B. C. Description: Surface wall-mounted unit. Sensitivity: 92 dB at one Watt input. Handset: Standard molded plastic telephone handset with 1.5 m permanently coiled cord and built in monitor. Controls and Indicators: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. E. Power On-Off selector switch and indicator lamp. Call in switch for one master station. Lighted annunciator lamp for incoming call. Recurring audible signal for incoming call. Mark each control and indicator with legible and permanent nameplates.

CABLES AND RACEWAYS A. Wiring shall be 2-pairs shielded telephone wire, 0.60 mm, solid copper conductor.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. B. C. D. 3.2 Verify that surfaces are ready to receive work. Verify field measurements are as shown on Drawings. Verify that required utilities are available, in proper location, and ready for use. Beginning of installation means installer accepts conditions.

INSTALLATION A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. B. Perform operational test on completed installation to verify proper operation. Replace equipment, components, and wiring to eliminate audible noise, clicks, pops, or hum when system is in standby or operation.

3.4

MANUFACTURER'S FIELD SERVICES A. B. C. D. Prepare and start systems. Make final connections to units. Perform field inspection and testing. Demonstrate system operation.

3.5

ADJUSTING A. Adjust controls and configuration switches for operation as indicated.
