Top Ten Tips For Increasing Concentration

1. Start assignments with some curiosity about the material and a positive attitude toward learning. 2. Designate a place where you go only to study. Use proper lighting. 3. Identify your distractions. Find ways to decrease them or to postpone them until study breaks (e.g., taking the phone off the hook, turning off instant messenger). 4. Decrease noises around you while studying. If you need some background music it should be soft. Keep the TV off. 5. Use "active study" techniques: sit straight in a chair at a desk, start out with questions about the material, outline chapters, underline key phrases after readinga section, write notes in margins, ask yourself what you have learned. 6. Divide your work into smaller manageable tasks that can be completed in a short period of time. Push yourself to complete one small task, then move on to the next task. Focus on one small task at a time. 7. Use times of peak alertness for studying difficult or less interesting topics. When you are tired or hungry concentration will be lowered. 8.When your mind starts to wander come up with some cue words to say to yourself (e.g., "Focus." "Get back on task.") to focus your concentration again.

9. Take breaks when you have completed tasks or when you feel concentration has decreased. Breaks should be approximately 10-15 minutes. 10. If you have other assignments or issues on your mind write them down on a "to do" list or take a small step to deal with them. Then get back to focusing on the task at hand. Best of luck

Oh God, tomorrow is exam! Will I remember what I have studied? This fear haunts many students. Now, dont fear friend. You can remember what you study. Provided, you use those study methods that help your brain to remember better. Here are five Brain-friendly study methods that help to improve your memory and remember your study lessons easily: 1. Study with short breaks Take short breaks while studying. Do not study continuously for more than 30 to 45 minutes. Give a break of five to ten minutes in between two sessions. Such short breaks give rest to your brain and help it to reinforce what you are learning. This will make it easy for you to understand more and remember better. Do not read any new information during these short breaks. Just relax or walk around. 2. Explain to yourself Explain what you study to yourself. Pretend you are both the student and the teacher, and try to explain the chapter or study topic to yourself. This kind of explaining automatically helps you to learn the subject in detail. Hence you will remember it clearly. 3. Discuss

Sleep for at least six hours. Eight hours is best. 5. Eat Well Now what has eating got to do with remembering more? Simple. What we eat affects our brains performance. Poor nutrition leads to learning and memory problems. So make sure you include nutrient-rich food items like--whole grains, nuts, fruits, vegetables, and milk in your diet. WINTERS
Have you ever heard the sound that come from the mouth of our children. Ooooh! Aaahhh! Eeeh! That's what comes out of the mouth of children when they wait for their school bus, on an early winter morning. It's a pity to see all those kids in shorts and skirts out there shivering, and trying to get whatever little warmth they can from the exhaust pipes of the passing vehicles. But there were many students who liked to be in their short and skirts, be it summer or winter! They would be shivering but if you asked them about their uniform, not a word of complaint would come out of them. Winters relieve us from the striking heat of June - July. It is the best season from the 'health' point of view also. Our desire and capacity to eat is enhanced and we eat times & again and whatever we eat is easily digested. But this season brings some problems also for our body and if we do not take care of the body properly, it may give us cold, cough or even fever. Take care of the few following tips, protect yourself and enjoy the season to its maximum. Whether winter brings severe storms, light dustings or just cold temperatures, some valuable tips on how to keep your children safe and warm.

Dr. NIYATI GARG: PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Our head, chest & feet are the most sensitive parts in our body in the winters & most of the times they are the reason that our body catches cold. If it happens our chest is blocked, cough starts and sometimes the body catches the fever even. So it is very important that one should cover his/her chest properly. As soon as the winters start, start wearing a woollen baniyan beneath, as the cotton baniyans can not protect the body that much. The hands, feet & the head are the exposed parts in our body. While going out in winters, take care that your hands are covered with gloves and head with a scarf, especially when you are going out.

Like our chest, our feet are also very sensitive to catch a cold. Do not walk on the floor barefooted. Put woollen or cotton socks instead of nylon. Nylon can not prevent the cold. Do not wear sleeveless or half-sleeved garments. Wear only cotton and woollen garments with full sleeves.

Put always a muffler around your neck, especially while riding a two wheeler. If you have a sore throat or caught a cough, do not forget the muffler. While in bed, the body gets the chill easily. So wrap your body in a thick blanket or a quilt properly. Take your gloves & socks off while in the bed. Keep a shawl at your bedside and put it on while coming out of the bed. After you are awake, do not immediately go for a bath. Let your body temperature be normal first. Take your bath in fresh or lukewarm water. Do not use too hot or too cold water. After you had your bath, do not come out of the bathroom wearing your gown or towel alone. Put some woollen garment on or a shawl around you. If possible, wash you hair while sitting in the sun. Never tie your wet hair. Do

not go on the scooter with wet hair. Dry your hair in the sun. Winters are not the right season to apply henna in your hair. Henna is quite cold in itself & can give you cold. But if you have to apply it, heat it first and sit in the sun after applying it. Wash your hair in lukewarm water. Sun activates the body. Try to sit in the sun with your back towards it for some time. It is good for removing the body stiffness. Do not drink the kept water, as the water gets colder with the passage of time. But if fresh water is not available, make it lukewarm first. On having an irritating throat, gargle with lukewarm salty water. Do not use portable heaters or lanterns while sleeping in enclosed areas such as tents, campers, and other vehicles. This is especially important at high altitudes, where the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning is increased. Set reasonable limits on winter outdoor play. Children should be called inside at regular intervals to warm up with beverages like hot milk, hot chocolate, coffee, or tea.

In the winter time we regularly eat a lot more than we do in any other season. This is good as long as we are eating the right foods. Eating foods rich in protein, vitamin A, B1, and B2 is a great way to improve your skins healthiness. Foods that are full of antioxidants help your skin to fight off inflammation and protect the cells of the membranes from being destroyed by the elements. Drinking green tea or eating foods with omega 3 are other great ways to help. These are rich with antioxidants.

These are some simple but applicable tips which can protect you and your child from getting ill in this precious time.

Improve your Communication Skills

Here are 6 great tips you can use! 1. Awareness of your own interaction with other people is the first step in improving your communication skills. Learn to identify which types of situations make you uncomfortable and then modify your behavior to achieve positive results is a critical step in improving your communication skills. You can learn to become aware of behaviors in other people that prompt you to respond in negative ways and modify your own behavior to turn the situation into a positive experience.

2. You must accept responsibility for your own behavior and do not fear apologizing for errors in judgment or insensitive actions. Asking others for honest feedback about the way you interact with others can be very helpful. Accept the negative feedback along with the positive and make

Dr. NIYATI GARG: PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

changes accordingly.

3. Your non-verbal communication is equally as important as the things that you say. Positive body language is extremely important in your interactions with other people. If your words and your actions do not match, you will have a difficult time succeeding in social situations.

4. In order to learn how to improve your communication skills, you must become a great listener. You must fight the urge to respond immediately and really listen to what the other person is trying to communicate.Offering suggestions or criticism before you are certain of the other person's intent can only lead to frustration for both parties.

5. Improving your communication skills is a process and cannot be accomplished overnight. Trying to improve or change too many things at once will be counter-productive. You will become discouraged and overwhelmed if you attempt to change your entire personality all at once. Choose one or two traits at a time and work on those over a period of time. Learn to take advantage of your personal strengths and make a positive impact on others.

6. Maximize your positive personality traits and use them in your interactions with others. Good communication and great listening skills are the most important tools you can use in improving your communication skills. You can learn how to improve your communication skills by developing excellent listening skills, learning to resolve problems and conflicts, understanding body language, and accepting responsibility for your own negative behavior.

Determination and self-awareness will make your desire to improve your communication skills a reality.

You can change your life and now is the time to start.

Exceptional communication skills can be Learned...and Mastered!!! Posted by Niyati Garg at 10:45:00 pm No comments:

Quick Tips to Improve Self Confidence

1) Identify your successes. Everyone is good at something, so discover the things at which you excel, then focus on your talents. Give
yourself credit for your successes. Inferiority is a state of mind in which you've declared yourself a victim. Do not allow yourself to be victimized.

2) Look in the mirror and smile . Studies surrounding what's called the "facial feedback theory" suggest that the expressions on your face can actually encourage your brain to register certain emotions. So by looking in the mirror and smiling every day, you might feel happier with yourself and more confident in the long run. 3) Exercise and eat healthy. Exercise raises adrenaline and makes one feel happier and healthier. It is certainly an easy and effective way to boost your self-confidence.

4) Turn feelings of envy or jealousy into a desire to achieve . Stop wanting what others have just because they have it; seek things simply because you want them, whether anybody else has them or not.

5) When you're feeling superbly insecure, write down a list of things that are good about you. Then read the list back. You'd be surprised at what you can come up with.

6) Don't be afraid to push yourself a bit - a little bit of pressure can actually show just how good you are!

7) You can try taking martial arts or fitness class/course (or both). This will help build confidence and strength.

8) Invest in some new clothing and donate some of your old clothing to send a message to yourself that you both look sharp and feel sharp.

9) Try to make yourself talk positively at all times. When you hear yourself saying you can't do something, stop and say you can. Unless you try, you will never know whether you are able to or not.

10) Don't get wrapped up in your mistakes and dwell on bad points; they can contrast your good points or even give you something to improve. There's no feeling like being good at something you were really bad at.

11) Don't confuse what you have with who you are. People degrade their self worth when comparing possessions.

12) Surround yourself with nurturing friends, not overly critical individuals who make you feel inadequate or insecure. This could do great harm and damage to your self confidence. Posted by Niyati Garg at 6:20:00 pm No comments:

Communicate with Confidence

Communication is not just about what we say, or even how we say it. Research shows body language contributes 55% of what we communicate, tone of voice 38% and what we say, only 7%. So how you appear and the signals you give off are the most important part of your message and often determine the outcome of your communication. Cultivate the habit of standing tall with shoulders back. Dont speak too fast. Slowing down your speech can make your listener more attentive. Dont cross your arms like a washer-woman. Everyone recognizes this as a defensive gesture and sign of feeling vulnerable. Dont fidget. Conserve your energy so that what you have to say has more impact. Soft eye-to-eye contact is respectful and shows you have nothing to hide or to fear. Think positively about yourself and the situation to appear more confident.

12 Ways to Stay on Top of Stress

9/12

7/16/13

Dr. NIYATI GARG: PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

Every one is familiar with the word stress, or we can say every one have faced it ones in his/her life. Stress is your bodys way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood. These chemicals give people more energy and strength, which can be a good thing if their stress is caused by physical danger. But this can also be a bad thing, if their stress is in response to something emotional and there is no outlet for this extra energy and strength. Symptoms of Stress Symptoms of stress are numerous and differ from one person to another. Common symptoms include the following:

Physical symptoms Tense muscles, especially in the neck and shoulders; Headache or backache; Stomachache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation; Tiredness or difficulty sleeping; Unusually rapid heartbeat; Shakiness or excessive sweating; Weight loss or weight gain; Clenched jaw or clenched teeth; Fingernail-biting; Sighing or changes in breathing patterns; and, Decreased interest in sex. Emotional symptoms Frustration, irritability or anger; Depression or anxiety; Nervousness; and, Boredom or apathy. Behavioral symptoms Abuse of alcohol, drugs or other substances;

Marital problems; Binge eating; and, Self-destructive behavior. Cognitive symptoms Forgetfulness, preoccupation and difficulty concentrating; Indecisiveness; Work mistakes and loss of productivity; Excessive worry; Decrease in creativity; and, Loss of sense of humor.

important point is how can avoid stress. here are some points

1. Exercise. If you have to work out, then go take a brisk walk and get that blood flowing. It isnt about working out to lose weight its about being healthy and staying sane. 2. Eat the real stuff. Crappy food (fast, processed, and loaded with sugar) doesnt help your chemical brain and body handle stress. Living food, real food, helps support your mind and body while its trying to deal with the million things coming its way. For the chocolate, it doesnt make the problem go away. Grab green food instead. Put things in your mouth that are going to support your immune function and keep you levelheaded. 3. Notice. Try not to let the stress overtake you. Recognize the situations that cause the stress and notice them coming your way.

4. Get it off your chest. Talk to a friend or partner about the stress. Sometimes just getting it off your chest can help unload some of the burden. 5. Keep your sense of humor. 6. Stay grateful. Make a habit of saying thank you. You will notice the sunny spots a lot more often, and not just the gray skies and storms. 7. Ask, Whats the hurry? Have some fun. Were always so busy going somewhere, we miss just enjoying the moment. If an opportunity comes your way to do something fun, take it. 8. Take a deep breath. When you feel the stress getting to you, take a moment. Get away, even if its just for an hour, to be with yourself and your thoughts. Some people like to take a walk, meditate, lock themselves away in a beautiful bath, or go to church. Find the peace and the silence. 9. Keep it simple. Simplify your life where you can. 10. Turn oof the TV. A lot of it is bad news anyway, and it robs us of hours that we could use to be getting other things done. 11. Sleep. If youre rested, you have a better shot at handling things. Not to mention, you may not stress out as easily if you have a chance to recover at night. 12. Drink water. Hydrate with water. It helps more then any thing else.:)
