The Book of Proverbs Chapter 05

Proverbs 5: Warning against Adultery and whoredom. In this lesson, we cover the
fleshly sin of fornication and the spiritual sin of idolatry.

The two key commandments of this chapter written by the finger of God:

Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any
thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth:
Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD
thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the
children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
Exodus 20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my
commandments.

And also:

Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

That is the theme of Proverbs chapter 05. All sexual sins are covered.

Proverbs 5:1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

Proverbs 5:2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

Proverbs 5:3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is
smoother than oil:

To the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet:

Proverbs The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter
27:7 thing is sweet.

That why lust is a sin.

Matthew Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit
5:27 adultery:
Matthew But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her
5:28 hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Proverbs 5:4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

The strange woman is the woman that is other than a wife.

When applied figuratively in scripture, the strange woman is a woman that is of the
people who God forbid his chosen people to mingle with because of their idolatry.

I Kings But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of
11:1 Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and
Hittites;
I Kings Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye
11:2 shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will
turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
I Kings And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and
11:3 his wives turned away his heart.

Those who promote spiritual adultery are roots that bear gall and wormwood:

Deuteronomy Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
29:14
Deuteronomy But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our
29:15 God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
Deuteronomy (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came
29:16 through the nations which ye passed by;
Deuteronomy And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone,
29:17 silver and gold, which were among them:)
Deuteronomy Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe,
29:18 whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and
serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that
beareth gall and wormwood;
Deuteronomy And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he
29:19 bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the
imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
Deuteronomy The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his
29:20 jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written
in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name
from under heaven.

- Deuteronomy 29:18 let’s us know that any man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose
heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods are roots
that bear gall and wormwood.

- You’ll know a tree by its fruits.

Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Sharp as a twoedged sword = The word of God and is a part of our whole armour:
Ephesians And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the
6:17 word of God:

Jesus will fight against those who oppose his word: (Pergamos letter)

Revelation Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them
2:16 with the sword of my mouth.

- Those who oppose the word of God, Jesus will fight against them with the sword of His
mouth, which is the word of God.

Proverbs 5:5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

The “terrors of the shadow of death” is the light of the day that shines on the adulterer
who wants to move at night and not be seen. In other words, they know that what they are
doing is wrong, and it is a terrible thing for them to get caught.

Job The eye also of the adulterer waiteth for the twilight, saying, No eye shall see
24:15 me: and disguiseth his face.
Job In the dark they dig through houses, which they had marked for themselves in
24:16 the daytime: they know not the light.
Job For the morning is to them even as the shadow of death: if one know them, they
24:17 are in the terrors of the shadow of death.

- Adulterers do all their deed at night in the dark so that they can not be seen. For the
light of day to shine on them and expose their deeds, that light places them in the terrors
of the shadow of death.

The shame of sex scandals have:

- Ruined marriages

- Ruined ministries

- Ruined careers

- Removed politicians from office

- Broken up families

- Caused embarrassment for any one touched by them.

- Yet there is no sign of this behavior stopping.

Proverbs 5:6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that
thou canst not know them.

She will deceive those who are lured by her:

II Timothy But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and
3:13 being deceived.

Her house inclined unto death, and her paths unto the dead:

Proverbs For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
2:18
Proverbs None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of
2:19 life.

Proverbs 5:7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of
my mouth.

Proverbs 5:8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

Do not put your self in the way of fleshly temptation Remove thy way far from her:

I Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord
Thessalonians Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please

Romans Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the
6:12 lusts thereof.
Romans Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but
6:13 yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your
members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Strange women turned the heart of Solomon to idolatry:

I Kings For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart
11:4 after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was
the heart of David his father.
I Kings For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after
11:5 Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
I Kings And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the
11:6 LORD, as did David his father.

Proverbs 5:9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

Proverbs 5:10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of
a stranger;

Men who choose to obey the lusts of the flesh and yield to fornication and adultery have
to deal with:

- Child support payments

- Paternity suits

- Garnished wages

- Even restricted travel. New laws prohibit anyone from obtaining a passport that is
delinquent in paying their child support:

Passport Denial Program

The Passport Denial Program, which is part of the Federal Offset Program, is designed to
help states enforce delinquent child support obligations. Under the program, non-
custodial parents certified by a state as having arrearages exceeding $2,500 are submitted
by the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) to the Department of State
(DoS), which denies them U.S. passports upon application or the use of a passport
service.

Article from The Times Online:

Husband makes cheating wife pay for time spent raising lover’s child
A FRENCHMAN has won a ground-breaking ruling against his former wife and her
lover, ordering them to pay back the money that he had spent on bringing up a child he
had mistakenly assumed to be his own.

Because of Solomon’s idolatry, God took the kingdom from him and gave it to his
servant:

I Kings Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab,
11:7 in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the
children of Ammon.
I Kings And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed
11:8 unto their gods.
I Kings And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the
11:9 LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
I Kings And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other
11:10 gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.
I Kings Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and
11:11 thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee,
I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

Proverbs chapter 5 is a chapter dedicated to loyalty.

- Weather you are talking about fleshly fornication or

- Weather you are talking about spiritual fornication and being lured in by Babylon which
is the fountain head of all idolatry. .

Proverbs 5:11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

It’s amazing how people will jeopardize their relationships, reputations and their health
for their fleshly lusts. Deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh:

I Corinthians It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such
5:1 fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one
should have his father’s wife.
I Corinthians And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done
5:2 this deed might be taken away from among you.
I Corinthians For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already,
5:3 as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
I Corinthians In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and
5:4 my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
I Corinthians To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the
5:5 spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

And thou mourn at the last:

Psalms For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth
31:10 because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

Jezebel taught and to seduced servants of God to commit fornication, and to eat things
sacrificed unto idols.

Jezebel’s body was consumed because of her spiritual wickness:

I Kings And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by
21:23 the wall of Jezreel.
I Kings Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the
21:24 field shall the fowls of the air eat.

Proverbs 5:12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Proverbs 5:13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to
them that instructed me!

When lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth
death:

James Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall
1:12 receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
James Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be
1:13 tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
James But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
1:14
James Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished,
1:15 bringeth forth death.

Proverbs 5:14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

When the light of day shines on the wicked, it is like the terrors on the shadow of death.
These people are set forth for an example:

Jude Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving
1:7 themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an
example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Post subject: Shooting part of paternity coverup?

Shooting part of paternity coverup?

Christine Kraly
The Times
2/2/2008
GARY | The Lake County prosecutor said he is asking that an investigation into the
shooting death of a 13-month-old Gary boy be wrapped into a case involving a possible
conspiracy to hide a child’s paternity.

Terry Bethel, 34, has been named as a person of interest in the Monday shooting death of
his son, Josiah Shaw, of Schererville, police have said.

Prosecutors are “looking deeply” into any possible connection between a case in which
Bethel allegedly conspired to disprove he fathered a child and the carjacking that killed
Josiah and wounded the boy’s mother, Prosecutor Bernard Carter said Friday.

Carter’s office is reviewing a case in which a man allegedly tried to get a driver’s license
using Bethel’s identification in the hopes of falsely taking a paternity test while posing as
Bethel, Carter said.

A source familiar with the case said with “90 percent” certainty that the child involved in
the conspiracy case is Josiah Shaw.

“He (Bethel) is truly not the victim in it,” Carter said of the false identity investigation.
“He’s involved in a conspiracy.”

Neither Bethel, who has six children, nor his unnamed counterpart in the case, have been
charged, Carter said.

Bethel has an outstanding child support order in Lake County, a source close to the
investigation said.

On Monday, Kwana Shaw, 29, was buckling her son, Josiah Shaw, into her sport utility
vehicle in Gary when a man approached her and shot her, Gary police Cmdr. Samuel
Roberts said.

Police said they later found Josiah Shaw wounded in the SUV at the intersection of 17th
Avenue and Virginia Street.

The boy suffered gunshot wounds to the chin and pelvis and was pronounced dead at
Methodist Hospitals Northlake in Gary.

The SUV was taken to the Lake County crime lab for analysis, the results of which are
still unknown, Roberts said.

Bethel, who also goes by the name Terry Noel, was arrested in Portage Tuesday on a
traffic warrant unrelated to the shooting and remained in Porter County Jail on a $4,000
bond Friday, authorities said. He has not faced any charges related to the shooting.

Bethel, who also faces an unrelated traffic warrant in Gary, remains a person of interest,
Roberts said.
A relative of Terry Bethel, also questioned in the shooting, was in Gary police custody
Friday, police said. Police said they already were questioning Joe Noel, 36, about the
shooting when they learned of an outstanding warrant in Ohio. Authorities in Ohio are
expected to request Joe Noel’s extradition.

Authorities would not elaborate on Joe Noel’s precise relationship to Terry Bethel.

Proverbs 5:15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine
own well.

Proverbs 5:16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

Proverbs 5:17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.

Proverbs 5:18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Love inside a marriage is compared to a blessed fountain. Any thing outside of that is a
sewage that contaminates anything it touches.

Hebrews Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and
13:4 adulterers God will judge.

Proverbs 5:19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee
at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing:

Proverbs Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the
18:22 LORD.

A prudent wife is from the LORD:

Proverbs House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from
19:14 the LORD.

be thou ravished always with her love.

Ephesians Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave
5:25 himself for it;
Ephesians That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
5:26
Ephesians That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
5:27 wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Ephesians So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his
5:28 wife loveth himself.
Ephesians For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it,
5:29 even as the Lord the church:
Ephesians For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
5:30
Ephesians For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined
5:31 unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
5:32
Ephesians Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as
5:33 himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

- Also read I Corinthians chapter 7.

I Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man
Corinthians not to touch a woman.
7:1
I Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let
Corinthians every woman have her own husband.
7:2
I Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also
Corinthians the wife unto the husband.
7:3
I The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise
Corinthians also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
7:4
I Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye
Corinthians may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that
7:5 Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
I But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.
Corinthians
7:6
I For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his
Corinthians proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.
7:7
I I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they
Corinthians abide even as I.
7:8
I But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to
Corinthians burn.
7:9
I And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife
Corinthians depart from her husband:
7:10
I But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her
Corinthians husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
7:11
I But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that
Corinthians believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her
7:12 away.
I And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be
Corinthians pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
7:13
I For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving
Corinthians wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now
7:14 are they holy.
I But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not
Corinthians under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
