5.1.1 Test parameters setting

1) speed definition: closing and opening speed calculation setting. There 10 fixed speed calculation modes saved in the tester. If you can not sure what is the right mode you should select. Please set the calculation mode in 10ms before closing and 10ms after opening mode. 2) Sensor position selection: selection the sensor installation position in three phases 3) Test time setting: The time of internal power out hold time. 250ms for single closing or opening test 500ms for C-O or O-C test 1000ms for old oil circuit breaker whose operation time is more than 500ms 2000ms for C-O-C test 4000ms for O-C-O-Ctest 4) Trigger mode selection Internal trigger: Power supply of circuit breaker coil is come from the internal DC power of the tester. The closing and opening impulse generated by the tester External trigger: Power supply come from external power source of the tester. The internal DC power is forbidden. The sample start time is the voltage trip in external trigger port 5) Sensor selection: different travel sensor selection. Universal, line or angle sensor for selection 6) Speed measurement enable: enable or disenable speed and travel measurement unit 7) Travel measurement enable: enable the travel measurement unit. It is valid in line sensor only. 8) Total travel setting: set the total travel of the circuit breaker move for parameters calculation. It is the distance of breaker two terminals from the circuit breaker stillness to the next stillness. If the current selection sensor is line sensor this value is set to be max range of the line sensor. The total travel is the actual measurement value in line sensor mode. 9) Test voltage: The voltage which would be injected to the coil of the circuit breaker in testing. 10) Move the cursor to the confirm item and then press the key ok down. All the parameters setting would be saved in the tester Warning: The default test time is 250ms or 400ms for C, O, and C-O or O-C test. Please do not select 2000ms and 4000ms for C, O, C-O or O-C test. Long time power output would reduce the lifetime of the power source.

5.2 Test in main menu 5.2.1 Test sequence

The fixed test item in the tester are follow: C, O, C-t1-O, O-t2-C and O-t2-C-t1-O test. C stand for closing test, O stand for Opening test. The time t1 and t2 are the delay time in two operation impulse.

5.2.2 Low voltage test

Test the circuit breaker operate ability in a low coil power supply.

5.3.1 Curves
The curves in the test results include the channel state-time curve, travel-time curve and coil current-time curve. All those curve are displayed in the same time coordinate system.

5.3.2 Comprehensive data

Show the data measured in table. The data items include the closing and opening time, max difference in three phases, max difference in the same phase, closing/opening speed, max speed, max current, travel, bounce value and so on.

5.3.3 Bounce
Display the bounce time and bounce frequency of channels. Press down ok in detail the detail information of the bounce would be showed.

5.3.4 Speed analysis

Calculate the speed value according the measurement travel-time curve. There two vertical lines showed on the LCD as figure 3 when the speed analysis program is started. The time difference of the two lines are t and the travel difference of the two lines are S. The speed between the two lines are V=S/t.

5.4.2 Save file

Save the test results data to storage of the tester. The directory of the data files are the current date. All the test files in the same date would be saved in the same directory.

6 Test connection
Warning: For safety reasons please connect the earth to the earth connection( ) on the

panel first when the tester is located in the power station. The earth connection is the last connection uninstall in the power station

See appendix 3

6.2 Closing and opening control lines connection

1) For internal trigger mode Uninstall the coil power supply in circuit breaker control box (You can disconnect the coil with operate power bus line by remove the fuse in the coil). Energy storage circuit power supply should in work condition. The tester can output a trip power supply only. It can not replace the function of energy storage circuit. Warning: The tester integrated a DC power source only. So you would have to test in external trigger mode if the circuit breaker trip by a AC power. 2) For external trigger mode The trip voltage generated by external power source. The internal trigger port connected to nothing. The external trigger port connected to the coil in parallel mode.

7 Sensor installation
The configuration of the tester includes three different sensors. They are line, angle and universal sensor. The connection cable of the three sensor are the same one.

7.1 Universal sensor (Acceleration sensor)

It is different with the traditional travel sensor. The traditional travel sensor as line sensor, Grating ruler and so on include one move part and one stillness part which are difficult to install the two parts in a circuit breaker. It is trouble and cost lots of time in travel and speed measurement with those sensors. The universal sensor includes one part which is fixed in the move part of the circuit breaker only. So it is very easy and fast to install the new sensor. Install procedure are as follow 1) Please select proper fastener unit according the size of movement parts 2) Fix the universal sensor in the move part of the circuit breaker. Please keep the socket of universal sensor direction locate in the same direction with the movement part. And the sensor is parallel with the movement parts. 3) Please keep some space between the sensor and circuit breaker body to avoid the sensor damaged in circuit breaker operation

7.2Angle sensor
The universal sensor is applied to replace the line sensor. But some circuit breaker in the market can not find a line movement parts in the breaker body. All the line movement parts have been sealed in the body of the circuit breaker. There is only a rotate part could be found in the circuit breaker. You would have to measure the speed and travel by the rotate part of the circuit breaker. Angle sensor is designed for this application. The installation of angle sensor is as figure 4

Figure 4 Angle sensor installation

7.3 Line sensor

Line sensor is applied for accurate speed and travel measurement. The mode of line travel include 50mm/200mm/300mm. The line sensor is optional accessories. 50mm line sensor is applied to measure the vacuum circuit breaker test and 200mm/300mm is applied to oil and SF6 circuit breaker test. one example of the installed line sensor is as figure 5.
