ASSESSMENT TYPE: Folio ASSESSMENT WEIGHTING: 25%.

Purpose: To research 4 possible career options based on your own interests, abilities and aspirations. Task Description: You are to research and discuss the following information for each separate career and present it as an A4 report with the following headings and subheadings: Heading (example): Career Choice 1: Nursing (new page per career option) The following subheadings are needed per career option:

Description/Definition of Career, What exactly does the job involve? Personal Skills Required, Technical or Industry Specific Skills Required, Educational and Training Requirements (course titles + campus + TER / ATAR needed if applicable), Subjects Required in Year 12, Subjects Required in Year 11, Issues and/or trends / job availability present in this industry.

The Reflection questions are to be answered for your top career option only (on a new page). Heading (example): Reflection: Top Career Option o What is the career in which you are most interested? o Why are you interested in this career? o What does this career offer you in relation to your interests, personality and ideal lifestyle? o In what ways are you suited to this career; what skills do you believe you already possess if you are to follow this career pathway?

o What skills will you need to develop further if you are to follow this career pathway? Why? o What are the various workplaces that you could seek employment in this field? You are to format your work as justified, 12-14 size font with 1.5 line spacing. You may use information from reliable sources such as the Australian Governments Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations website, http://www.deewr.gov.au/schooling/careersandtransitions/careerdevelopme nt/Pages/default.aspx which has links to many industry and career websites and importantly has a direct link to the on-line Job Guide. http://www.jobguide.deewr.gov.au/ If you are unsure as to which careers to research, a good place to start is to review the 40 job possibilities generated by the Career Voyage program (Jiig-cal). This program also has relevant information in regards to each of the generated careers.
