When choosing oil grade, it is much depending on the ambient temperature of an area. Do we really need a 5W in our tropical country Malaysia? Does our country ambient temperature ever reach -0 degC? What will be the lowest and highest temperature in our vehicle engine? Think. Above shows the viscosity of the liquid at low and high temperature. E.g for an oil grade of 0W60, it is the best oil viscosity as it can do it best at the lowest and highest temperature and maintain good lubrication in the engine. However, it still depends on your vehicle engine a bigger engine like trucks might need different oil grade compare to a car. P/S: Just to my knowledge the engine temperature might reach more than 100degC but it will not reach less than -10 deg C
