INSTALLATION AND ERECTION A. Apply a heavy coat of asphalt emulsion to sill; allow to dry before placing mortar. Adhere expansion strips to jambs and head with gobs of asphalt emulsion, taking care to extend expansion strips to sill. Set first and succeeding courses of glass unit masonry with filled bed and head mortar joints, with no furrowing. Set glass unit masonry plumb with courses level, accurately spaced and coordinated with other work; maintain 3/8 inch (10 mm) joint widths indicated. Use rubber mallet to tap units into position; do not use steel tools and do not allow units to come into contact with metal accessories and frames. Fill raked joints and voids with pointing mortar. Apply in layers; fully compact each layer and allow to become thumbprint hard before applying next layer. 1. Tool exposed joints slightly concave using a jointer larger than joint width; perform tooling while mortar is still plastic and before it takes final set. Remove wedges, if used, and fill voids with mortar. Remove surplus mortar from face of glass block when joints are tooled.

B. C. D. E.

2. 3. F.

Install panel anchor. Extend panel anchors at least 12 inches (305 mm) into joint and bend within expansion joints at edges of panels. Attach panel anchors as follows, to construction indicated. 1. Steel Members: Attach by 1/4 inch (6.4 mm) diameter steel bolts in
