TOPIC:A Livingsacrifice By Past.Ayo Oyebanjo Date: 21St.July,2013 Romans 12:1-2 KJV [1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. The word sacrifice runs through the whole scriptures.Everyone who walked with God had to make an offering or sacrifice unto as way offering. Abel was the first person to make an offering/sacrifice unto God. Genesis 4:4 KJV [4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: From Abel all through to Abraham different types of sacrifices were offered unto God. After God decided to raise the nation of Israel unto Himself, sacrifices became a part of the ordinance given to them by Day of Atonement,Sacrificial lamb etc. were offered unto God as an offering upon the Altar from time to time. Our Lord Jesus Christ is a perfect sacrifice for our sins. The bible calls Him the "Lamb of God".His death upon the cross was a form of sacrifice made so that there could be remission of our sins. A demand is laid upon us as God's children to be a "living sacrifice".The word "living sacrifice" appears like a paradox.Unlike the past where sacrificial objects were killed, the scripture talks about a sacrifice that is living!

Why"livingsacrifice"and not a normaldeadsacrifice? As a child of God,you must die to live.Romans 6:3-8 We must be dead with Christ first then we can live unto Him. A living sacrifice refers to a person who indeed is dead in Christ but is alive unto God.The two must run pari pasu' for us to be a "living sacrifice" acceptable unto God.

Without a sacrifice there can't be fire.Only when you become a living sacrifice that the fire can fall.If you are cold and not on fire, the 'flies' will prey on you.Baal-zebub is called the 'lord of the flies'.The 'flies' which are demonic forces/demons will prey on anyone who is not on fire.

Only a living sacrifice can attract the fire which can repel the 'flies' Our old man is dead but our new man is alive making us to be dead(normal for all sacrifices) but also fulfilling the demands of a living sacrifice which we are called to be as Christians. Romans 6:6 KJV [6] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him , that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Our "old man" is buried so that we shall not serve sin anymore but live unto God.Until a sacrifice is on the altar,God's fire will not fall to consume the sacrifice as experienced by Elijah on Mt.Carmel. 1 Kings 18:24 KJV [24] And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord : and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken. Elijah's sacrifice prompted the fire from Heaven. God wants you to be a 'fire' carrier for Him but you must be a "living sacrifice" that will attract the fire of God from Heaven. The bible tells us that God makes His ministers "flames of fire". Psalm 104:4 KJV [4] Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: It furthers prophesies that our Lord Jesus Christ will come and baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire for you to be able to live the life that God wants you to live as a child of God. Matthew 3:11 KJV [11] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: If you are not a "fire" carrier, you will not be able to make much progress in your walk with God because there are so much around that wants to confront you.

No matter how bold any living thing is,when it sees fire,it turns.Even the Lion,as bold as it is, turns away from fire. Proverbs 30:30 KJV [30] A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any; This is why you need to be a living sacrifice-a demand which you must rise up to in your own interest.

Hebrews 1:7 KJV [7] And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV [6] Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. We have all been made ministers of the living God.You must be the fuel for the fire.As the fuel reduces, the fire increases. John 3:30 KJV [30] He must increase, but I must decrease. When you become nothing and He becomes all,the fire engulfs you totally. Revelation 1:6 KJV [6] And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. A priest is a minister. As a believer, you are a minster and your ministry can only be effective where there is fire flaming. The fire cannot flame except there is a sacrifice on the altar. YOUMUSTBE THATSACRIFICE.A LIVINGSACRIFICE(A PARADOX!).

Whatdoesit meanto be deadin Christ? There are three(3) things we must be dead to as Christians We must be dead to the fllwng: Self (Flesh) Sin 3

The World

SELF(OR FLESH) One of the greatest challenge we have as believers is the "flesh". We must realize that the "flesh" cannot be "born again'! Flesh must die for us to live.

Romans 6:11 KJV [11] Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. We have a responsibility to ensure that the state of death and burial of the flesh is maintained on a daily basis. It is a daily experience! Paul said "I die daily" in 1 Corinthians 15:31 KJV [31] I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. It is not a one-time experience! There is no level of anointing for which you can be careless with sin and think you are beyond temptations. To think so amounts to the greatest presumption. 1 Corinthians 10:12 KJV [12] Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There are experiences you never know how you will react to except you find yourself in them. Keeping the flesh in a dead state is a responsibility required of us. John 3:6 KJV [6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. The flesh cannot be converted to spiritual-no type of technology can effect this! The only sure protection is to "die daily" Romans 8:13 KJV [13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. To mortify means to deaden; to kill, to withdraw the source of life. Leviticus 17:11a KJV [11] For the life of the flesh is in the blood: 4

Friday,July 26, 2013

To kill a chicken, you need to drain off the blood. Withdrawal of blood from any living thing will result in its death. If someone is losing blood, he/she is losing life! Abstain from the equivalent of blood to the "flesh/self" in order to be alive unto God continually. Withdrawing the lifeline from the "flesh" is a personal responsibility. The Bible exhorts that you must preserve yourself!

Jesus said in : Luke 9:23 KJV [23] And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Paul said: Galatians 5:17 KJV [17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. It is because of "self" that "self will" comes in. Not as God wills but as I will! Self will often resist a demand placed upon one by God. The issue of self/flesh is one you have to contend with no matter the amount of grace and anointing upon your life. We must confine flesh to the place of death by dyeing daily.

SIN Being dead to sin does not mean that you will not be enticed.Rather,it means you will refuse to consent. Proverbs 1:10 KJV [10] My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. You have a responsibility either to give or withhold your consent. Anytime there is sin it is because you gave a consent. There is consent that is needed for sin to be committed and nobody can do this for you. 5

Being dead to sin means you refuse to consent to sin even when there is an enticement. You must abstain from environments that are conducive for the temptation of sin.

THEWORLD The World has its own systems, methodologies of doing things. And it is always changing. It also goes around like a cycle.Eg.Fashion. If you want to keep following it and flow with it, you will become a part of it. It will ultimately lead to your destruction. Refuse to just follow the world. 1 John 2:15 KJV [15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Christ said in John 17:15 KJV [15] I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. The world promotes a system which keeps changing because someone is trying to promote something which favours them. If you follow them it will lead to your destruction Being dead to the world is necessary for you to be a "living sacrifice. Only when our "old man"is indeed dead but our spirit alive unto God that we can attract the fire of God that makes us a "flaming fire. Only when there is sacrifice on the altar that the fire will fall. Because of the coldness in the church, fire must be rekindled so that "flies" will no longer perch on us. The starting point is to be a "living sacrifice".-presenting yourself as a "living sacrifice" for the fire to be rekindled. Fire is necessary for us to be victorious over the enemy as you become too hot for the enemy to handle. Though the Bible describes the devil as a "roaring lion, when a lion sees fire, it will turn back. If you carry fire on your head the devil will turn.It has enough sense to know where not to go.But to carry that fire you must be a living sacrifice. Without fire, we are prey for the enemy so being a "living sacrifice" is not optional for us as believers in order that we can become "flaming fires" indeed. 6

Hebrews 1:7 KJV [7] And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. To be made, you must be ready to be made. Making is a process and the process of making means you must be a living sacrifice for you to be made into a "flaming fire. God wants to make but are you ready to be made? There is a responsibility on your part for God to make you a "flaming fire" and that responsibility is for you to be a "living sacrifice" and present yourself as one on His altar so that he can make you a "flaming fire as His minister.

Whatdo I do?: A commitment to be a "living sacrifice daily Self denial as a lifestyle Mortifying the flesh daily It is a daily not a one-time off affair. Hebrews 12:4 KJV [4] Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

There are occasions when it could get to that level. Make no provision for sin. Living with a consciousness of being dead to sin and as such make no room for sin by living true to your new self in Christ . Resisting sin by not making room for sin to thrive. Make no provision for sin Romans 13:14 KJV [14] But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Pray for the grace to resist sin.Pray to deliberately be a "contrararian" to the world Receive grace in the place of prayer to back up this commitment. The starting point of being a "living sacrifice" is to know Jesus Christ. Titus 2:11 KJV [11] For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Give your life to Christ 7

Paul said;"I beseech you brethren..".You must belong to the group God called "brethren" for you to be a "living sacrifice". Hebrews 4:16 KJV [16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Pray for help for grace to be a "living sacrifice" IJN,Amen
