WHAT IS THE GREAT CROSS ALLIANCE? The Great Cross Alliance is a large group of people who have decided to pool their final expenses together to build the largest religious monument ever created by man. We are a Christian Alliance, dedicated to preserving the Word of God far into the future. TELL ME ABOUT THE GREAT CROSS ITSELF The Cross will be one of the largest Christian cemeteries in the world. It is a giant columbarium and mausoleum. A columbarium is a wall for cremated remains, and a mausoleum is where bodies are buried above ground. The Cross will be built in phases, as members join. It will be made of compacted earth, with a reinforced hard shell. Long hallways lead to a central chapel, where The Bible will be inscribed on the walls in four languages. The outer steps each have vertical faces about eight feet high, made of large, closed vaults for the cremated remains of one or two people. The Cross will be more than three times the volume of the Egyptian Great Pyramid. Its long axis is 3000 feet (914 meters) long, and it will be 183 feet (56 meters) high. The Great Cross will be easily visible from space. The Great Cross has been carefully designed to be less expensive than most columbariums, despite its grand scale and incredible beauty. WHY WOULD WE BUILD THE GREAT CROSS? The Great Cross preserves the Word of God. The truth of everlasting life through the salvation of Jesus Christ is the most precious thing we can pass on to millions of our descendants. WHERE DID THIS IDEA COME FROM? Mike and Laurie Nowland are the founders of The Great Cross Alliance. Mike first saw The Cross in a series of dreams over two years. When Mike explained the visions to Laurie, she realized that the family had been given a mission. Mike spent the next few years working on a feasible design, while Laurie developed a business structure, marketing plan, and social media presence. HOW CAN ANYONE PAY FOR SOMETHING THIS BIG? WHERE WILL THE MONEY COME FROM? No one can But WE can. A Great Alliance of a million Christians, assembled around the world, can do it easily. We will all have to pay for our final arrangements, or our children will. The Great Cross will be built by a million people, each contributing a few thousand dollars to place their remains there. The ashes of a married couple can be together for about $5000 total. Cremation and scattering are the least costly final arrangements. Thats fine for many people, but others want to leave wisdom to those who will remember us. WHY IS THE CROSS SO BIG? Through history, many popular religions have come and gone. Some had millions of followers, but are forgotten. Those that built very large permanent monuments are still remembered and studied today. The Great Cross is designed to attract people to the Word of God. The Christian world has understood the value of glorious monuments since the middle ages. The cathedrals of Europe demonstrated the faith, vitality, and God-given purpose of Christs followers. Christs truth is still very much alive in the world. We have the resolve and the means to build the greatest symbol ever. It will be a lasting expression of our shared faith and a rallying symbol for the entire Christian world. The Great Cross will help people participate in a grand Christian endeavor in a way that will be interesting and attractive to many. BUT ITS SO FAR FROM MY HOME Many are concerned that visiting The Cross will be difficult. The site is only 75 minutes from Reno airport, but distance will still prevent some from being part of it. We ask those with this concern to consider our great-grandparents. Do we know where they are? Do we visit? If you send your mother to be interred with us, you will know where she is. Your descendants will say, Our family has someone in The Great Cross. Her name is Grandma Mary Elizabeth A few weeks after services in your home town, your loved ones can send you to The Cross. Arrangements can be made ahead of time, or by your funeral service provider. HOW WE CAN HELP YOU The Cross offers a sense of unity in spreading the Word of God to millions. It also offers a much lower cost than many other final arrangements. It is simple and easy to purchase your permanent final resting place. SO WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP? The most important thing you can do to help build The Great Cross is to become part of it. Buy a place for your spouse and yourself. That is what pays the costs of construction. Your vault will be built into The Cross in a short time, even if you dont arrive for decades.
