The gospel penetrated the community of Imbert by means of an evangelistic rally during the last week of November. The seven-night campaign resulted in several public confessions of faith in Jesus Christ. Healthy crowds of others heard the plan of salvation

RALLY HELD IN IMBERT (continued)

THE LOFTS MOVE--AGAIN

As can be seen, the crowds varied greatly. The rally

began with a yawn. The second night's group grew,

mainly due to a visiting team of singers and poets who shared the program. The Wednesday night attendance was so-so. But Thursday's crowd was big because of a Christian film we showed as well as a power shortage in the town. The projectionist had brought a portable generator "just in case". Because of the blackout, no body could watch T.V. or listen to radios. Many thus
left their houses to see and hear the movie we showed.

Bill and Ginny Loft, pioneer missionaries to Brazil, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic, have moved again, this time to El Paso, Texas. Bill is now serving as president of El Paso Christian College there; he and Ginny are also active in church work across the border
in Mexico.

FAREWELL, CARMEN PEREZ We said our farewells to Carmen Perez, of the Vuelta Larga church, in November. She left to reside in

New York City. We will all miss her, as she is an outstanding Christian woman. Carmen represents an ever-growing number of Dominicans who are making the move to the States. The overwhelming majority of them transfer to New

York City, with small communities in other places.

We have heard that there are about 600,000 Domini*

We estimated that as many as 10 or 15 per cent of the entire community was present for the evening. I, Gary, spoke for the first four nights. Ramon Men-

dez, of Santiago, delivered the next two night's ser

mons. Our Puerto Plata friend, Carlos Torres, manned

cans now living in the United States, if so, this repre sents fully 10 per cent of all Dominicans. The "New York connection" is very essential to the sustenance of many Dominicans still here in their own country. Many people here receive monthly checks from family members in the States who are making excellent money in comparison to island wages. With out this income, many here would be victims of end less poverty and misery. Our hopes are that Carmen Perez will encounter a peaceful life in the "Big Apple". It is her dream to
make a better life for herself and her children there. We trust that she will.

The main event of the rally was, for us, the public confessions of Christ. Though they were few, they were quite significant. They were the brave ones who prefer to reject the tradition, apathy, and immorality which are so prevalent in their township. We will do our best to follow up with these prospects, seeing to it that they maintain their convictions and commit
ments to Jesus.
