Milton Keynes, England, July 30, 2013 -- Energy management and environmental sus tainability historically have been part of a companys Corporate Social Responsibi lity (CSR) but, according to Justin Vroone, Commercial Director at IMServ, there has been a radical shift away from the philanthropic into finances remit and com panies bottom line. Its been a steady move away from CSR towards CFOs and finance professionals for a number of years, primarily driven by increased financial and regulatory risk and rising energy costs. Finance professionals understand capital and are focused o n driving business growth, improving bottom-line performance and managing risk, e xplains Justin. There are multiple benefits of measuring carbon emissions, from reducing energy c osts to providing new revenue streams for a company. In addition, any green impro vements and carbon reductions is a positive PR story, a boost to employees percep tion and beneficial for stakeholder engagement. Measuring and reporting carbon footprints is now well established amongst the UKs FTSE 100 companies, with 96% submitting data to the Carbon Disclosure Project in 2012, demonstrating the importance of carbon management. IMServ is one of the UKs largest independent energy management providers. The com pany offers carbon and energy management solutions, helping organisations across all sectors to save energy, reduce costs and control carbon emissions. Justin continued, For many CFOs the biggest hurdle is measuring what you cant nece ssarily see. Energy usage whether its oil, gas or electricity consumption has to be measured and evaluated. Once trends in usage have been analysed and predicti ons for future energy use assessed, CFOs can then predict expenditure based on u sage rather than estimates. Aside from reflecting favourably on an organisation, reducing carbon emissions will reduce costs, boost efficiency and drive growth.
