During installation of VERITAS Volume Manager, the vxio and vxdmp kernel drivers
are not loaded.

Exact Error Message:

add_drv/rem_drv currently busy; try later
or
cannot open /dev/vx/config

Details:
The following errors are reported during the installation of VERITAS Volume
Manager:

An old vxdmp driver is loaded. To activate the new vxdmp driver after
adding the package, you will have to perform a reconfiguration reboot (-r).
Adding vxio driver for SunOS version 5.8...
add_drv/rem_drv currently busy; try later
Error adding vxio driver. Please fix the problem and re-run pkgadd.
Attempting to remove vxdmp driver..
add_drv/rem_drv currently busy; try later
Please fix the problem and re-run pkgadd.

When the Solaris command add_drv (adds new device drivers) or rem_drv (unloads
device drivers from memory) is interrupted during installation, it leaves the lock
file /tmp/AdDrEm.lck around and causes the above errors. The solution is to
remove the lock file, remove VRTSvxvm,

# rm /tmp/AdDrEm.lck
# pkgrm VRTSvxvm

reboot the server and then reinstall VRTSvxvm again.

If the problem is not addressed, Volume Manager will not load properly on the next
reboot:
