5Z2 Re: PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY Dear Sir/Madame: I respectfully present the following justification of my English proficiency. From preparatory, primary, elementary, high school and onwards, the Philippine Educational System used English as the medium of instruction in our core subjects, namely reading, writing, mathematics and science aside from having English subject as a part of the curriculum. Raised by a very strict grandmother who is an English teacher and a Supervisor of the Department of Education Culture and Sports (DECS), I have been trained to speak only in two languages, English and my native dialect Ibay-yo. During my elementary and high school years, I have been fascinated with reading books, newspapers and other reading materials in English. I consistently joined essay writing contests and other literary competitions and have won several of them. I am also very active in volunteering to give class reports and lectures which gave me extra points in my grades especially for my English subjects. I studied at Pines City Colleges, an accredited Nursing school, and I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. The official language of communication was English. All symposia, colloquia, seminars and similar discussion groups were always conducted in English. I passed all English subjects with above-average grades. During my Bachelors Degree in Nursing, one of our major subjects were Community and School Nursing. We disseminate health and medical information to citizens and students through seminars, lectures and discussions and we conduct and facilitate it using the English language. After completing my Bachelors Degree, I was employed as an Active Trainee Nurse in a secondary level hospital in Manila, Mary Chilles General Hospital. As a Nurse, a few of my responsibilities were writing nurses notes in the patient chart and give health teachings to patients and their families and all were done mostly in English. I took the IELTS Examination under IDP (Academic) last April 14, 2007 regrettably without any review and got the overall band score of 7.0. This encouraged me to improve my English skill and study more so I resigned from my current company and decided to apply for an English Academy. I was then employed at CNS Global Language Institute as an IELTS/TOEFL/ESL Teacher for Korean Nationals. I specialized in Speaking and Writing Part. I have been awarded for being the Best Teacher for 3 consecutive months and 7 times during my 1 year service to the company. We were required to communicate with students and employees only in English and

we had a lot of opportunities to update ourselves and train more with regards to our English Skills. We had a weekly IELTS mock exams and our company sponsored staffs to go to seminars and symposiums about the English Language. Then I was employed as an Online English Teacher for Korean Public Officers and specialized in Effective English Communication for Yoshitel Language Center for almost two years. I decided then to pursue my nursing career in Al Hammadi Hospital, Riyadh City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from November 2009 to December 2012. The medium of communication used to interact with colleagues and clients both written and oral is primarily English and secondarily Arabic since it is an international institute catering to multi-national customers and staffs. As the Department Quality Coordinator for the Operating Room Department, it was my responsibility to review, revise and make new policy and procedures and procedural guidelines for our department together with my seniors and head of the department. Once again, all of these documents, training material and group discussions are in English. After finishing my contract last December 2012, I came back home to Philippines and worked for Oxphone International Company as an Online English Teacher specializing in TOEIC Speaking Test Review for Korean Nationals up to the present. As a professional, interacting with a range of employees and clients in various countries, I consider myself to have a high level of proficiency in both spoken and written English. Both my technical skills and English language proficiency helped me to perform both effectively and efficiently.
