Products
Bangladesh Banking Sector has grown from strength to strength over the past one decade and is fiercely competitive, especially in the Consumer Banking segment. EBL offers a wide range of depository, loan and card products to cater virtually for every customer segment. From Student Banking to Priority Banking to Platinum card EBL has almost all banking products in its repertoire. The product basket is rich in content featuring different types of Savings & Current Accounts, Personal Loans, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Prepaid Cards, Internet Banking, Corporate Banking, SME Banking, Investment Banking, Treasury & Syndication services. The customers are served through a network of 67

Branches, 160 ATMs and 40 Kiosks countrywide. EBL has its presence in major cities/towns in the country including Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi Rangpur & Cox's Bazar. EBL is also the first bank to introduce Priority Banking in Bangladesh. Product and Service Innovation


EBL is known for its product innovation in the market. During the past five years, EBL introduced 12 new-to-Bangladesh financial products and services. EBL Matribhumi the bundle product for expatriate Bangladeshis, insurance covered monthly savings scheme, VISA corporate cards, remittance card and mobilebased remittance solution are just a few of them. On the SME banking window EBL offered customerfriendly and groundbreaking products like EBL Uddom and EBL Mukti. At present, EBL Consumer, SME and Corporate Banking units are capable of handling every kind of customer financial needs.

Achievements
EBL believes in relationship building and focuses on sustainable and long term growth both for the bank, its clients and the community it operates in. Despite the constant threat of the global economic recession and its subsequent effect on the Bangladesh market in 2011, EBLs Profit after Tax grew by 3.96 % last year. The Non Performing Loan Ratio dropped to 1.91% from 1.99%. The same year, Earning per Share (EPS) had increased by around 70% and Cost to Income ratio is 34.46% which is one of the lowest in the industry. And in 2010 the banks Credit Rating increased to AA from AA-, which was A+ in the year before. In 2011 EBL launched EXPRESS CARD - co-branded with Grameenphone & GPIT Ltd - an innovative cash solution for their employees working across the country. This card based employee payment management system is unique in Bangladesh and for the first time has been introduced by EBL and GP. EBL knows its target customers and as such offers new products and services to cater to their contemporary taste and need. In the past couple of years the Bank came up with several exciting products and service propositions: Some of them are a first in Bangladesh. Priority Banking, Travel related products, life insurance covered DPS, Platinum Credit Card, SME Debit Card to name a few. EBL is one of the first banks in Bangladesh to launch Mobile-based remittance service marking a new era of banking services among the unbanked population of the country. EBL SME Banking holds a strong foothold in the market and offers several specialized financial solutions for the entrepreneurs. EBL introduced Invoice Factoring for the first time in Bangladesh and has dedicated Women Entrepreneur Cell to cater to the banking needs of the particular segment. On the corporate banking front, EBL is a market leader in Syndication deals which demonstrates the banks financial capacity and strength. In the last five years EBL has closed syndication deals worth more than Tk. 1500 crore. EBL received its biggest

recognition when countrys national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines mandated pre-delivery purchase deal to EBL for two Boeing 777-300ER. In the Bangladesh banking history EBL is the first local bank to handle such a mega project. In 2009 EBL launched Investment Banking wing, which contributed significantly in the EBL revenue stream in the very first year of its operation. The Banks initiatives in climate-change mitigation projects are laudable. We have recently launched a product named Nobodoy, designed to finance and promote environment-friendly economic activities. It is a customized loan product that helps farmers to purchase and install fixed dome biogas plants for efficient management of waste. Approximately 2.2 million tons of poultry manure is produced yearly from 2 billion chickens in Bangladesh. Converting this waste into cheap and efficient source of energy will help small farmers develop sustainable poultry businesses. Of the other new green initiatives, EBL has planned to finance a village to set up solar panel in 2012. EBL is the first bank in Bangladesh to offer Sustainable Energy Finance loan product with assistance from the South Asia Enterprise Development Facility, managed by IFC in partnership with the UK Department for International Development and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation to help companies implement energy-saving measures and boosting the competitiveness of private enterprises. We aim to finance $20 million in sustainable energy finance projects in the next five years, and avoid 200,000 tonnes of carbon emission in the process.

Awards and Recognitions


EBLs sincere efforts are well-appreciated by all and have gotten recognitions from local and international institutions like Institute of Chartered Accountants in Bangladesh, Superbrands Inc., South Asian Federation of Accountants. In 2009 the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) recognized Annual Report of EBL as one of the best published reports. EBL was awarded the 2nd prize at 10th ICAB National Awards for the Best Published Accounts and Reports. EBL is also a recipient of

'Certificate of Merit' in the Best Presented Accounts Award 2009 by South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA). EBL has also been awarded by IFC as the Most Active GTFP Issuing Bank in South Asia 2009-2010 and the Most Active Issuing Bank in Agribusiness Sector in South Asia 20102011. In EBLs journey to excellence, a feather to its cap was Quality Management Systems Certificate as per ISO 9001:2008 standard. EBL is the first Bangladeshi Bank to achieve this recognition for its commitment to quality delivery. In its long journey to excellence EBL has been crowned with many accolades. The recently held World HRD Congress in Singapore conferred EBL the Asias Best Employer Brand Award. In 2011 in Mumbai the Global Brand Congress awarded EBL Global Awards for Brand Excellence in the Banking and Financial Services category. The most coveted recognition of the country the Best Financial Institution Award in 2010 at DHL-Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards speaks volumes for the bank.

EBL Internet Banking Features


Customers having account(s) with Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) can enjoy Internet Banking (IB) facilities of EBL. Customers may approach for the IB facility either at the time of opening an account or subsequently any time after opening the account. If the Customer has an existing IB ID, he/she can tag any EBL account(s) with the existing IB ID. Features of Internet Banking
Account Summary & Details

This function displays the summarized view of the accounts held by the Customer.
Account Statement

This function displays the account details, i.e. Account Holder's Name, Product Type, Account Balances, details of unclear funds of selected CASA account, etc.
Own Account Transfer

This function allows Customers to transfer funds between their own CASA accounts with the Bank. Daily transaction amount limit: Max. 9, 99, 99,999 in a day. Single transaction limit: Max. 100,000/transaction. Number of transaction limit: Max. 999 transactions in a day.

Internal Transfer (To Recipient's Account in EBL)

This function asks the user to register beneficiary (EBL account) before allowing the transfer of the fund. Day limit: Not more than BDT 50,000/day. Single transaction limit: Not more than BDT 10,000/day. Not more than 5 transactions in a day.

Bill Payment Service Category 2:

In order to use this service the Customer will have to register the biller first (only for the first time).

Customer will be able to pay bills to the biller after successful registration. In case of Mobile Phone bills, Customers can only pay bills for their post-paid connections through IB. Cheque Status Enquiry

This function displays the cheque status in terms of 'Paid' or 'Unpaid.'


Loan Details

This function displays the details of the selected loan account(s), e.g. loan product details, disbursed amount, outstanding balance details, etc.
Change Password

This function allows the user to change his/her own Password (Minimum 6 maximum 12 characters.) N.B. Bank/ NBFI FDR of different tenures: Market Rate
View Standing Instructions

This function allows Customers to see standing instructions (if any) for CASA account.
Stop Cheque

Through this feature the Customer can initiate instruction for stopping a Cheque for clearing.
Session Summary

The customer will be able to view a log of the transactions performed in a session.
