WEEKEND MASSES
Based on the Mass Count over the past few years St Josephs Parish doesnt warrant four (4) Masses at weekends now. Three (3) would adequately meet the present need. Over the past 12 months the number of Masses has been discussed by the Parish Pastoral Leadership Team and the Parish Liturgy Committee. The present situation:

WEEK-DAY LITURGIES: Tuesday: 11.00am (Requiem Mass: Fran Kavanagh RIP) Wednesday & Thursday: 10.00am (Eucharist) Friday: 10.00am (Liturgy of Word with Communion) NB: A funeral normally takes the place of the weekday liturgy.

There are 3 Vigil Masses in Warrnambool There are 4 Sunday Morning Masses in Warrnambool There is 1 Sunday Evening Mass for the whole region Because of the number of Masses at St Josephs we require the assistance of Fr Michael & Fr Lawrie. We are very grateful to them. Its difficult finding Liturgical Ministers for the 4 Masses Its also been difficult to guarantee music at every Mass The organisational difficulties associated with celebration of the childrens sacraments when there are different celebrants At some stage there will be one less priest in Warrnambool Following James Kerrs Ordination (Friday, 6th September), the Ballarat Diocese will have no students in the seminary and thus no Ballarat priest ordained for the next 7 years! Purnim has 2 Masses per month & 2-3 Lay Assemblies. Masses have been possible with the generous assistance of Fr Lawrie

NB: The change from 4 to 3 Masses will not commence until early in 2014. Some further prayerful discernment is needed re final decision. (Fr John) RITE OF PRESENTATION - FIRST EUCHARIST
Children: Most Loving God, you call each of us here around the altar, the table of the Lord, to share in the Body and Blood of Christ and to be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit. Through this Sacred Meal, give us the strength to be a sign of your love in the world. Be with us and all those who will help us prepare for this most important Sacrament. This prayer we make through Christ our Lord. Amen Migrant & Refugee Sunday (18th August): A time to celebrate the cultural diversity of our nation and especially to consider the plight of the many who have fled their homelands in fear. You are invited to bring memorabilia of the country of your birth to display over that weekend as well as a special dish to share following the 10.30am Mass.
