RandyUnfollow Follow Randy Randy Ransdell Due to the large changes in feed water demand additional control of drum level if a split range control valve station is avaiolable. During start up the demand is very low and one large valve is not very effective in controlling low flows. 23 days ago Unlike Like

Donald Reed Previous experience has been have a startup feed valve and main feed valve . So as to not cut main feed valve at minimal loads. Also control issues at different loads. 23 days ago Unlike Like

NabeelUnfollow Follow Nabeel Nabeel Ahmed Normally One valve, controls the drum level when boiler running at Low Load near about 30% of boiler capacity. When boiler load increased from 30% than both control valves working as a split range to control the drum level. Also that is increased the system reliability when one valve starts malfunctioning than you can isolate and control the level through second valve and first valve hand over to maintenance. 22 days ago Unlike Like

sandeepUnfollow Follow sandeep sandeep tripathi both are importent, in lightup time no any load in boiler and fw demand very low so 30% cv provided & when load come in boiler we start high capacity moter to maintain water leval so 100% cv provided.in these reson we save energy in starting time so 30% provided & when plant take load then 1oo% provided. 18 days ago Unlike Like

KentUnfollow Follow Kent Kent Coleman It is also important to have a small valve for filling after coming off line so you can trickle feed feedwater for topping up the boiler to minimize thermal fatigue damage to the economizer and drum. It is more desirable to wait until the boiler is called on for a restart to fill the drum up to normal level for a startup but many operators feel uncomfortable if they cannot see the drum level even if there is no fire in the boiler. 17 days ago Unlike Like

pankajUnfollow Follow pankaj pankaj chavda operation of 100% CV requires stabilization time called "worm up time" for maintain drum level with three element system, 100% CV can't maintain drum level as all three inputs varies frequently. also PID of 100% CV doesn't allow valve to respond correctly, in startup 40% means two element control valve can easily maintain drum level. 13 days ago Unlike Like

ImadUnfollow Follow Imad Imad Khurram "CAVITATION",across the valve is the reason behind using 30% and 100% control valves. As in case of startup the drum side pressure say around 1bar and upstream of the control valve say FWP discharge pressure around 120Bar for an example.in this case we have high DP across the valve which could cause damage so that preferring 30% comparatively small size valve as per the design which can with stand in this condition.once load up to 30% in that case we have sufficient pressure in the drum and hence low DP across the valve and also to fulfill rapid and more flow demand 100% valve will come into service. 13 days ago Unlike Like

AnshumanUnfollow Follow Anshuman Anshuman Batra - During start up the FW control valve will operate at a lower flow range compared to the over all FW flow range. Hence if a higher sized control valve is used it will operate a very low % opening for a long time leading to plug cavitation. - Further by using a higher sized valve during start up you will not be able to achieve the desired fast PID response and risk tripping the level controller on low level. 12 days ago Unlike Like

ubaidUnfollow Follow ubaid ubaid anwer we are using this scheme of 100% and 30% cv on our site in NEM Holland HRSG'S .reason for using two different capacity valves is correctly discuss as above. 12 days ago Unlike Like
