Reeh See! Deuteronomy 11:2616:17. I.

. This Parsha sets before the reader an age-old choice connected with ones obedience to YHVH or not. It begins with the first verse of Deut. 11: 26 which should be examined as it sets the tone to introduce the mountains of blessing and curses, choosing the place for YHVHs dwelling, false prophets, idol worship, clean eating, tithing, the Shmittah or Sabbatical year, and concludes with the 3 Pilgrimage festivals of Passover, Shavuot, and Sukkot, thereby, linking these items with those blesses and or curses. Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;

As we probe into the hidden truths here, the 29 letters of the verse remind us of the gematria of #3577, kazab, a Hebrew word meaning a lie, a deception. It would seem then that if one is obedient and blessed they walk in Truth. If not, the curse becomes evidence of a deceptive lifestyle. In the real world where the Just also suffer and watch the Wicked enjoy things of this life, how can we really define whether one is blessed or not? Hmmm? Behold, #7200, ra'ah, to see, perceive, consider, inspect, to present oneself to be gazed intently at, to be caused to be shown. In order to satisfy the question above, the first word of this verse begins to explain! In its verbal form this word requires the individual to make a mental observation. Curiously, the gematria of raah equals 206, the same as the Hebrew word #1696-1698, dabar, word, speech, plague or pestilence! 206 is also the value of arah and badar, to curse and scatter. Is there now a connection to how one SEES the word in his life and therefore how he sees the subsequent blessings or curses? John 17:17 declares we are sanctified [set apart] by the Truth the Word. If both Just and Unjust alike are subject to blessings and curses we must determine the source in order to ascribe blame or credit [YHVH or Satan] and we must determine if either or both are temporal or eternal. In fact were told in Numbers 23: 19 YHVH is not a man that He should lie

If He has promised blessings for obedience, curses for rebellion, then where does the Believer who has fallen prey to sickness, disease, death, destruction or calamity or persecution for the Words sake find solace? Is there a hidden ploy by the enemy to subvert the plans of YHVH by confusing this issue and diverting attention from eternity, where the ramifications of blessing and curse are forever established? If in this life only we have hope in Messiah, we are [the] most miserable of all men. 1Cor. 15: 19. Lets look for more answers: I think if we look at the Hebrew words for Blessing and Curses, as well as, the mountain associated with each our understanding will be enhanced. Blessing, #1293, Brakah, translated blessing, it can also be rendered a treaty of peace. Its root, barak infers to kneel in worship or to be made to kneel: quite a divide between the two! Incidentally, berakah has the same root consonants as Bekorah, a fem. Noun meaning birthright, firstborn, etc. The right of firstborn blessing gives us the authority to invoke the Dabar when confronted with what seems to be a curse! In other words, we have a treaty of Peace with YHVH and thus, even the effect of THE CURSE sin, sickness, death, disease and the agent provocateur Satan himself who comes to kill, steal and destroy, is made to bow. Curse, #7045, qlalah, to curse or speak lightly of another. If we break the word apart, the Qof-Lamed means a voice; the Lamed-Hey root forms a pronoun to her. Thus, the origin of the curse is connected to the voice spoken to her! (Gen. 3: 1) It has the same gematria (165) as the word #6096, etseh, referring to a backbone, having the same root as etz tree. The Etz Chai, Tree of Life, metaphorically represents Messiah the Torah or Backbone, through which flows the spinal fluid or Living Water! The curse circumvents access to this source of life; one who listens to the whispered voice who would speak against Torah is cut off from the Garden. Now as often happens in our teachings when we cite the significance of the gematria to the understanding of the Scriptures we get a bit of flack, however, let me show you a sampling from Gen. 3:1 where the Serpent speaks to Chavah Eve, saying, Yea, hath God said the numerical value of this phrase is 458, the same as #2859, chatan, which as a noun means bridegroom, as a verb, it portrays the idea of becoming related by marriage. How important to

qualify raah, consider, the words to measure what we hear before engaging in intimacy? Eve clearly DID NOT! In fact, there is a connection here to Gen. 2: 7 where YHVH breathed, spoke, said amar, the word/seed into the Nostrils Aph Alef-Pey, of Adam in order to cause him to live! The Serpents words had the opposite effect producing the curse. It becomes fitting that Moshes closing declaration is entitled; Devarim Words. Why place blessings/curses upon the Mountains? Though translated mountain or hill (Heb. Har) it euphemistically infers seat of authority. If we add the letter Hey Harah it means to be pregnant. How apropos that the Authority we lend to the seed, the voice spoken, comes as a result of what weve perceived, inspected Raah beheld, and conceived! Gerizim, #1630, Griziym, it is the plural form of cut off. This name is a misnomer. How can we reconcile being blessed with cut off? The rootGimmel-Resh forms Ger, the stranger, the one Cut Off. We recognize that our actions separate us from YHVH and yet, Messiah is cut off that we may be grafted back in! Ebal, #5858, ` Eybal, bald or bare. Literally no vegetation, no leaves. We can see 2 two-letter roots here: Ayin-Yod, form `Ay, meaning heap or ruin, while the Bet-Lamed root forms Baal, the pagan idol deity. It can also infer husband. Ebal seems to connect us to a Union with a ruinous husband with whom a relationship would invoke the curse. The Ayin speaks of the Eye, to see, behold, while the word Yod-Bet-Lamed, yabal, infers to carry along, as in being led from womb to tomb, or judgment. Ps. 1: 1-6 tells us how to become fruitful and remain so. His leaf shall not wither #5034, nabel, to wither. As a proper name (One who refused to give aid to King David) it infers, one dense morally, intellectually, and spiritually. A carcass or corpse, devoid of life. Curiously, the same letters also form nebel, indicating a clay vessel or jar. 2 Cor. 4:7 treasure in an earthen vessel. For curiositys sake lets examine the names of the tribes associated with each and their prophetic implications: Gerizim: Simeon: Heard, to listen & obey. He who hears.

Levi: Joined to. Judah: Praised or I will praise Yah. Issachar: There is a reward. Joseph: Yah shall add or increase. Benjamin: Son of the Rt. Hand. Those who become Strangers cut off from Israel, will be grafted back, by hearing and obeying, (the highest praise toward Yah). This Prophetic re-gathering will identify Joseph, and restore the Son of the Right Hand! By placing a Blessing upon a Cut off Mountain it seems a prophetic promise to bless and restore those of us who were cut off and scattered into the nations. Ebal: Reuben: Behold a Son. Gad: to cut, invade with a troop. Asher: to be happy, to go forward, straight. Zebulon: Honored dwelling place. (The)Wished for dwelling place. Dan: Judged. Naphtali: My wrestling. It is interesting to look at the root stem here: the Pey-Tav which forms pote, a noun referring to a door hinge, indicating to open or close, ironically, it can also hint at the private parts of a woman. How fitting to see a wrestling that occurs at the door-way to the womb. Those upon Ebal represent the Ayin-Eye-Well or womb, which would produce another son, which would divide asunder those who would go straight; they would be cast out of the honored dwelling place, to the place of judgment for having failed to identify the One they Wrestled With. Incidentally, Jacob recognized the One He Wrestled With the first time, and here is being warned of another encounter. If you look at the Gematria of Gerizim 260 and Ebal 112 and subtract the lesser you have 148, the value of #4266, Machanayim, the name of the very place where Jacob wrestles with Messiah and is blessed! Is it possible that our trials, hardships, reflect our own personal wrestling? The outcome of which, determines blessing or curse? Jacob becomes Israel - #3478,

Yisra'el, those who walk straight upright. Ironically, from this point
Jacob halted upon his thigh was lame, couldnt walk straight as long as he was Jacob, the man of the flesh! Our physical walk may be fraught with limping, what seems like a curse, yet the flesh must be subjugated before we can enjoy the

Blessings! The same circumstance can be viewed either way: Is my situation a blessing or a curse? Jer. 29:11. In fact, the expected end of Jeremiah 29:11 comes from #8615, tiqvah, meaning a hope or expectation, but, it can also be rendered a rope, cord or line, like that of Rahab. In the midst of judging Jericho curse for some blessing for others, the Scarlet Thread of Messiah is hung for our deliverance! Did you notice the root of tiqvah? It is Qof-Vav-Hey, qavah, the same as that of #4723, miqveh, the gathering place or expectation of an immersing into the Waters again! Indicating a new birth You must be born again the blessing in the midst of sorrow (death, burial, resurrection). Is it possible that walking between the mountains of Gerizim and Ebal, was a shadow picture of Israel being born again, exiting from the womb the two legs/pillars of the Tabernacle, the doorway, and placed in front of them, are blessings and curses, choices - like Cain, for some there is the flesh and sin which waits or Blessings which will overtake you. Deut. 28:2 says these blessings will overtake you: #5381, nasag, to overtake, run up from behind and catch, run one down, to have enough! II. It would seem that the successive mention of choosing a dwelling place for YHVH, false prophets, celebration of the Holy Convocations, etc. arise out of the necessity of making a choice to follow the teachings and instructions Torah of YHVH. Deut. 11:26 tells He has set, #5414, nathan, to set, to deliver, to appoint, to entrust to be delivered. Context here carries the idea of someone or something being appointed, set: Before, #6440, paniym, in front of (the face). This phrase, before the face, connects us to the first commandment, Thou shalt have no other gods before my face YHVH sets Himself, His Word, Messiah before the face of Israel as their husband, the curse results when another god is brought into the intimate place. The Tabernacle is the pattern, the Holiest of Holies would represent the mind of the Man thus were to cast down imaginations 2 Cor. 10: 3 5 before they are planted in womb of our minds and become strongholds producing curses. Our choices reflect our relationship: WHO WE WORSHIP!
