Nanotechnology

Interdisciplinary new technology (Engineering, Computer, Physics, Chemistry and Biology) To build NEMS (Nanometer-Sized Electromechanical Structures) Nanotechnology is molecular manufacturing or, more simply, building things one atom or molecule at a time with programmed nanoscopic robot arms.

The trick is to manipulate atoms individually and place them exactly where needed to produce the desired structure.

Introduction to Robotics

What is a Robotics? Like nanotechnology, Robotics is the use of technology to design and manufacture(intelligent) machines, built for specic purposes, programmed to perform specic tasks.

Introduction to Robotics
What is a Robot?

Robots are programmable machines, They range from small, miniature machines, to large crane size constructions

Introduction to Nanorobotics

It deals with the controlled manipulation of objects with nanometer scale dimensions Nanomanipulation is most eective process. It is concerned with construction and programming of robots with overall dimensions at the nanoscale.

Nanorobotics

Programmable assembly of nm-scale components either by manipulation with macro or micro devices, or by directed self-assembly. It is concerned with atomic and molecular-sized objects and is also called Molecular Robotics. Nanorobotics research has proceeded along two lines:
rst is devoted to simulation with nanoscale dimensions. second involves manipulation with macroscopic instruments.

Nanorobot

1 2 3

A nanorobot is a specialized nanomachine. It has dimensions on the order of nanometers. The possibility of nanorobots was rst proposed by Richard Feyman in his talk Theres Plenty of Room at the Bottom in 1959.

Features of Nanorobots

Nanorobots can be categorized into two groups called autonomous robots and insect robots. A major asset of nanorobots is that they require very little energy to operate. Durability is another potential asset, may remain operational for years, decades or centuries. High speed is also a signicant consideration. It can operate much faster than their larger counterparts.

Nano Robotics in medicine

The production of nanorobots has taken a step closer to real application due to technological advancements such as AFM , bionic motors, nanotanks, DNA as computer, and nano robotics arms. Leonard Adleman conrmed that DNA is programmable in computers. Fighting cancer
Treats either by attacking tumors directly using lasers, microwaves(or)ultrasonic signals. Delivering medication directly to the cancer site

Parasite Removal
Nano robots wage war against bacteria and small parasitic organisms. item Several Nano robots using to destroy all the parasites.

Cleaning Wounds
Help in removing debris from wounds, decreasing the infection.

Inorganic NanoBots

Advantages and disadvantages of inorganic nanobots Advantages

1

Advantages:
well-understood component behaviour ease of programming ease of external control unlimited chemistry (with enough energy)

Disadvantages:
dicult and expensive to make not self-reproducing diculty of communicating with organic systems must carry own (limited) payload

Organic NanoBots

Advantages and disadvantages of organic nanobots Advantages

1

Advantages:
easy to make using genetic engineering self-reproducing (cheap) easily communicate with other organic systems protein factories manufacture payload

Disadvantages:
poorly understood component behaviour (proteins) hard to program limited external control mechanisms limited to CHON chemistry and needs water

Conclusion

All of the current developments in technology directs human a step closer to nanorobots production. Nanorobots can theoretically destroy all common diseases of the 20th century, thereby ending much of the pain and suering. Although research into nanorobots is in its preliminary stages, the promise of such technology is endless.
