TESOL Teacher Training


Macquarie University English Language Centre offers a new TESOL program ideal for both current English teachers and trainee English teachers with an overall IELTS test result of 5.5 - 6 (Academic Module) or equivalent. This program allows teachers to participate in TESOL Methodology Workshops and also to improve their English language skills. While the program is presented at an English language level below that for university entrance, the topics and issues covered are similar to those in certified TESOL training courses. This program can be used as preparation for further study, or as professional development for teachers who are already qualified. TESOL Methodology Workshops 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Interaction in the Language Classroom Presenting and Practising Language Planning Lessons Teaching Listening Teaching Reading Teaching Speaking Teaching Writing Teaching Pronunciation Teaching Vocabulary Flexible Learning The Workshops can be studied as a face-to-face program or teachers can choose to complete some workshops online in their own country and then come to Australia to complete the rest of the program. Workshops can be studied in any order and in any combination. Classroom Observations As part of the program, participants will observe experienced English language teachers at the English Language Centre live in the classroom or on video. Visits to local Primary and High Schools may also be included in the face-to-face program on request.*

THE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
We offer a range of exciting local activities to choose from that can be included in all of our Study Tour options to complement the learning experience. We organise guided city tours, visits to native Australian wildlife parks and participants can learn to play cricket or how to surf. We can arrange accommodation for participants as well; there are a number of accommodation options for Study Tour groups to choose from, for example on campus or homestay.

ALL STUDY TOUR PARTICIPANTS


Have access to all Macquarie Universitys facilities, for example, Library, Sports & Aquatic Centre, food court, etc. Are presented with a Certificate Have access to a buddy program with local Macquarie University students
