Chester County
Photo Contest
Entry Form
Purpose:
To showcase the photography of those
associated with Chester County and use
entry fee funds to provide a scholarship
for a college-bound Chester County High
School senior who wants to pursue a
degree in an arts-related area. Additional
funds will be used to benefit the Carl
Perkins Center.
Cash and Prizes:
Best in Show will receive a Chester
County Gift Basket with gift certificates to
different local businesses, as well as have
his or her award-winning entry on public
display at Chester County City Hall for
one calendar year. All four division
winners will also have their work on
public display in a local setting.
Exhibit Opening & Awards:
All entries will be on display upstairs at
Chester County City Hall from 1 5 p.m.
Friday, September 27 during the Chester
County Barbeque Festival. Winners will be
announced on stage that evening.

Guidelines:
Photos may be color, black & white, film,
or digital. Jurors will consider
composition, lighting, use of depth of
field, point of view & contrast; creativity
and originality. Photos with digital
enhancements including HDR (high
dynamic
range), edited or combined images are
encouraged and will be considered for
award in all divisions. Digital manipulation must be without deceitful intent.
Decorative templates/ borders are not
recommended. To download the free open

Fees and Requirements:

Entry fee is $10 each for entries up to
three, and $5 each for additional entries.
Entry format is a print between 5x7 and
8x10 which must be matted/mounted
with black or white border and without
glass or frame. Completed entry form
must be affixed to reverse along with
confirmation of payment by check or
money order for entry fee(s) made
payable to Chester County Leadership.
Entry grants Chester County Leadership
and the Henderson Arts Commission the
right to reproduce photos in any format
including, but not limited to print, digital,
& multimedia.
Eligibility:
Contest is open to entrants of all ages
who have a con- nection to Chester
County, TN; those who have resided or
whose family have resided in Chester
County or sur- rounding counties at some
point. This includes all faculty, staff and
students at Freed-Hardemen University.
Those earning a significant portion of
their income through photography are
not eligible. Jurors are not eligible.
Photos taken over 3 years ago and
previously published photos are not
eligible. Photographs taken in Chester
County and surrounding areas will be
given preference in the Environment
division.

Hand-deliver Entries:
Entries can be submitted from August 15 to
September 15 at Chester County City Hall to
Mrs. Alicia Holders office, at Freed-Hardemen
University to Dr. Barbara Englands office or at
Chester County High School to Mr. Jeff
Haltoms classroom.

Award Divisions:
Jurors will choose Best in Show and assign
the remaining winners to the following
award divisions. For example, an eagle
photo could win in any of the divisions,
depending on the emphasis of the image.
Portrait (close-up) - illuminates the
character of the subject, which may be
person, animal, plant, or object; superbly
il- lustrates the essence of an item or
entity.
Environment (long-shot) - evokes a
remarkable sense of place, which may
be rural or urban, interior or exterior;
supremely conveys the atmosphere of
an environment.
Moment - shows impeccable timing, which
may result from action, lighting, or
coincidence; honestly captures a unique
instant in time.
Artistry - represents elaborate
preparations/extensive digital
manipulation, such as combining multiple
images, HDR, or inclusion of scanned
elements; succeeds especially through the
artistry of the photographer.
In the unlikely event that an exceptional
entry defies assignment to one of the award
divisions, jurors reserve the right to give an
alternative award.
