Our unique role is to make high-quality non-credit courses accessible to everyone, creating opportunities to keep your mind active and engaged. The program offers interesting and affordable classes in a safe, comfortable environment with the majority of classes meeting on the beautiful Salem College campus. In FocusWine Stories
Wine is more than a beverage. In this class we will explore many interesting wine-related storieswine fraud, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, WWII wine taxation, etc.and along the way taste wines produced by some of those interesting wine people. Tuesdays, December 3 and 10 6:30 8:30 p.m. $80
*A Riedel glass will be included in the course fee and given at the class to each participant. All wine series participants must be 21 years old.
Art Series

Writing
Writing for Profit and Getting Published [Mathosian]
This course teaches you how to develop ideas to pitch to editors and identify magazines, newspapers and trade publications for your freelance writing. You will learn how to organize and write articles, successfully query editors, price your work and make multiple sales. Designed for beginners and seasoned writers, this course provides all the information you need to become a successful freelance writer. Wednesdays, September 18 November 13 (no class October 9) 6:30 8:30 p.m $85
Instructors
Jennifer Stevenson Vincent is an awardwinning professional writer and educator with more than 25 years experience. Her work has been published more than 2,000 times in newspapers and magazines across the country, and shes been nominated journalisms highest honor, the Pulitzer Prize. A co-founder and past president/chairman of Winston-Salem Writers, she is also an experienced workshop leader. Vincent is the creator of the Anyone Can Write and Healing Words therapeutic writing programs.
Judy Oakley is a graduate of UNCGreensboro and completed graduate work at Cambridge University, Cambridge, England. Having spent 33 years teaching English in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, she retired in 2010.She is a consultant with the Department of Education at WinstonSalem State University.She has taught SAT preparation for Salem College for six years.
