Sonic Bomber
From Transformers Wiki
Sonic Bomber is an Autobot Powered Master from the Zone portion of the Generation 1 continuity family. Sonic Bomber ( Sonikku Bonb) is the youthful, energetic and happy-go-lucky second in command of the Autobots. He looks up to his Supreme Commander, Dai Atlas with respect and admiration. Though brash and cocky, Sonic Bomber knows when to shut up and do what he's told. When he is combined with Dai Atlas, they become Sky Powered. However, when he's combined with Dai Atlas and Road Fire, they become the allpowerful Big Powered. He is paired with his Micromaster partner, aptly named Sonic.

Zone comic and story pages
Following the creation of the Autobot Zone, the Decepticon Emperor Violen Jiger ordered his Nine Great Demon Generals on a campaign to conquer planets and create a Decepticon Zone to counter it. The Decepticons attacked planet Feminia and destroyed it completely, with Victory Saber lost in the destruction. However, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber, the Powered Master space explorers, had arrived in time to rescue the badly wounded Autobot Supreme Commander. The Decepticons then shifted their focus to Earth, where they hoped to obtain a powerful energy source called the Zodiac. Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber intercepted them on Earth, defeated them, and regained the Zodiac. Impressed with Dai Atlas' courage and power, and too injured to lead any longer, Victory Saber inaugurated Dai Atlas as the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots. Sonic Bomber became second in command. Transformers: Zone

Sonic moves, Sonic grooves. Save the world from disaster!

Soon after, Evil Spirit General BlackZarak attacked the Earth and took Landshaker and Sky Hyper hostage. Driven by the need to rescue their comrades, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber defeated BlackZarak and rescued their friends. Zone Part 5 Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber then focused their attention on Super-God General Overlord and Saurian General Trypticon, whom they vowed to defeat in under eight seconds. Sonic Bomber took Trypticon out with his "Meteor Drop" attack... pretty much just head-butting him with the pointy thing on his head. Zone Part 6 Violen Jiger then created Metrotitan as a rival for Dai Atlas and unleashed him on the Lunar Zone Base on Earth's moon. Sonic Bomber was kept busy by the Metrosquad and left unable to fight off Metrotitan. Zone Part 8 Eventually, Dai Atlas arrived and combined with Sonic Bomber into Sky Powered,

but they were quickly frozen solid by Metrotitan's Freeze Beam Gun. All hope seemed lost until Road Fire appeared and took Metrotitan out. Freed, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber happily welcomed Road Fire into the club. Zone Part 9 Violen Jiger at last came out of the shadows and attacked the Earth in person. Sonic Bomber and the other Powered Masters attempted to stop him with their "Triple Powered Attack" but failed. Violen Jiger escaped back to the Tenth Planet with the Zodiac and a Galaxy Rocket full of hostages. The Powered Masters then combined into Big Powered and gave chase. Zone Part 10 Arriving at the Tenth Planet, Violen Jiger split into his three forms, Vion, Lenja and Igern, and attacked. Sonic Bomber took on Igern in an air battle and destroyed him, while his comrades took care of the other two entities. However, Violen Jiger was not beaten yet. Zone Part 11 Violen Jiger returned as a horrible phoenix-thing and attacked. Upgraded with the power of the Zodiac, the Powered Masters combined into Big Powered yet again, but this time their strength was enhanced thirty-fold. They flew through Violen Jiger and destroyed him with the "Powered Rainbow Attack". The Zodiac then reformed the desolate Tenth Planet into a lush utopia where humans and robots could live in harmony. Zone Part 12

Zone OVA
Voice actor: Kaneto Shiozawa (Japanese) Sonic Bomber and Dai Atlas, the pioneers of space known as the Powered Masters, found the injured Victory Saber after the destruction of Feminia and brought him back to planet Zone for repairs. After discussing the nature of the mysterious Zodiac with Dai Atlas and Holi, he went to Earth, where he fought Trypticon in battle. After the Zodiac was activated, Sonic Bomber and Dai Atlas transformed into "Zone Mode", which enabled them to incinerate Trypticon and King Poseidon. Shortly afterwards, Sonic Bomber served as a flying surfboard for Dai Atlas, which allowed him to kill the escaping Predaking with his massive Z-shaped boomerang. Enter the New Supreme Commander, Dai Atlas!

Sonic Bomber was part of a big crowd of unhappy Cybertrons who made Prowl look really stupid when he tried to make a speech.

Accessories: Gun Sonic Bomber transforms into an aircraft based vaguely upon the SR-71 Blackbird. In vehicle mode, he can combine with Dai Atlas and Road Fire to form Big Powered. He can also form a Micromaster base mode that can connect to other Micromaster bases, including those of his aforementioned buddies. He is packaged with his Micromaster partner, Sonic. Sonic Bomber was released exclusively in Japan for the 1990 wave of Zone toys. He was released again later that year as part of a giftset with Dai Atlas and Road Fire. I never knew Joe Pi had a jet mode.

Big Powered (Multi-figure giftset, 1990) Japanese ID Number: C-353 Sonic Bomber was also released in a giftset with Dai Atlas and Road Fire.

Notes
The instructions for Sky Garry show that he can combine in base mode with Sonic Bomber. The Sonic Bomber toy was later redecoed for Takara's Brave Express Might Gaine toyline as "Hiry" (), which served as the initial mech of series anti-hero Joe Raibaru. The character model was altered from the toy in various ways, such as more menacing feet and a creepier face, but the toy itself had no remolding. In a seeming nod to the toy's Transformers origins by the Brave staff, the robot was originally dubbed "Sonic" by its creator on the show, but Joe chose to rename it to his liking. Subsequently, elements of Hiry's animation design were used in the "Mega Sonic 8823" robot from the same series, which was never made as a toy. More on Hiry at a Japanese toy photoblog. Later still, in Brave of Gold Goldran, the "Revibaron" ( Ribaibaron) mecha was essentially a "remolded" Hiry, with what seemed to be Gory's jet nosecone-drill and a head based on Red Geist. Revibaron was also not made into a toy... and, somewhat embarrassingly, existed for a meager total of three minutes and twenty seconds.
