WATER AND MOISTURE — Do not use this product
near w ater — for example, near a bathtub, w ash
bo wl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a w et base m ent;
or near a s wim ming pool; and the like.
ACCESSORIES — Do not place this product on an
unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The
product may fall, causing serious injury to a child or
adult, and serious damage to the product. Use only
w ith a cart, stand, tripod, brack e t, or tabl e
recom m ended by the manufacturer, or sold with
the product. Any mounting of the product should
follo w the manufacturer’s instructions, and should
use a mounting accessory recom m ended by the
manufacturer.
CART — A product and cart combination should be
moved with care. Q uick stops, excessive force, and
uneven surfaces may cause the product and cart
combination to overturn.
VENTILATION — Slots and openings in the cabinet are
provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable
operation of the product and to protect it from
overheating, and these openings must not be
blocked or covered. The openings should never be
blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug,
or other similar surface. This product should not be
placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or
rack unless proper ventilation is provided or the
manufacturer’s instructions have be en adhered to.
POWER SOURCES — This product should be operated
only from the type of po w er source indicated on the
marking label. If you are not sure of the type of
po w er supply to your hom e, consult your product
dealer or local po w er company.
LOCATION – The appliance should be installed in a
stable location.
NONUSE PERIODS – The po w er cord of the appliance
should be unplugged from the outlet w hen left un-
used for a long period of tim e.

÷ If this product is equipped with a polarized alternating
current line plug (a plug having one blade wider than
the other), it will fit into the outlet only one w ay. This
is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug
fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug
should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to
replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the
safety purpose of the polarized plug.
÷ If this product is e quipp e d w ith a thre e- w ire
grounding type plug, a plug having a third (grounding)
pin, it will only fit into a grounding type po w er outlet.
This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the
plug into the outlet, contact your electrician to

POWER-CORD PROTECTION — Po w er-supply cords
should be routed so that they are not likely to be
w alked on or pinched by ite ms placed upon or
against the m, paying particular attention to cords at
plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point w here
they exit from the product.
OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING — If an outside
antenna or cable syste m is connected to the product,
be sure the antenna or cable syste m is grounded so
as to provide som e protection against voltage surges
and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National
Electrical Code, A NSI/N FPA 70, provides information
with regard to proper grounding of the mast and
supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire
to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding
conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit,
c o n n e c t i o n t o gro u n d i n g e l e c tro d e s , a n d
requirements for the grounding electrode. See Figure
A.
LIGHTNING — For added protection for this product
during a lightning storm, or w hen it is left unattended
and unused for long periods of tim e, unplug it from
the w all outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable
syste m. This will prevent damage to the product
due to lightning and po w er-line surges.
POWER LINES — An outside antenna syste m should
not be located in the vicinity of overhead po w er lines
or other electric light or po w er circuits, or w here it
can fall into such po w er lines or circuits. W hen
installing an outside antenna syste m, extre m e care
should be taken to ke ep from touching such po w er
lines or circuits as contact with the m might be fatal.
OVERLOADING — D o not ov erload w all outle ts,
extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles
as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

repairs to this product, ask the service technician to
perform safety checks to determine that the product
is in proper operating condition.

For A Lifetime
Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit you’ve just
purchased is only the start of your musical enjoyment. Now it’s time
to consider how you can maximize the fun and excitement your
equipment offers. This manufacturer and the Electronic Industries
Association’s Consumer Electronics Group want you to get the most
out of your equipment by playing it at a safe level. One that lets the
sound come through loud and clear without annoying blaring or
distortion-and, most importantly, without affecting your sensitive
hearing.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing “comfort level”
adapts to higher volumes of sound. So what sounds “normal” can
actually be loud and harmful to your hearing. Guard against this by
setting your equipment at a safe level BEFORE your hearing adapts.
To establish a safe level:
÷ Start your volume control at a low setting.
÷ Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and
clearly, and without distortion.

Location
Install the unit in a well-ventilated location where it will
not be exposed to high temperatures or humidity.
Do not install the unit in a location w hich is exposed to
direct rays of the sun, or near stoves or radiators. Exces-
sive heat can adversely affect the cabinet and internal co m-
ponents. Installation of the unit in a da m p or dusty envi-
ron ment may also result in a malfunction or accident. (Avoid
installation near cookers etc., w here the unit m ay be ex-
posed to oily sm oke, stea m or heat.)
Condensation
W hen this unit is brought into a w arm roo m fro m previ-
ously cold surroundings or w hen the roo m te m perature
rises sharply, condensation m ay form inside, and the unit
m ay not be able to attain its full perform ance. In cases like
this, allo w the unit to stand for about an hour or raise the
roo m te m perature gradually.
Cleaning the unit
• Use a polishing cloth to wipe off dust and dirt.
• W hen the surfaces are very dirty, wipe with a soft cloth
dipped in so m e neutral cleanser diluted five or six tim es
with w ater and wrung out w ell, then wipe again with a
dry cloth. Do not use furniture w ax or cleaners.
• N ever use thinners, benzene, insecticide sprays or other
che micals on or near this unit, since these will corrode
the surfaces.

Emplacement
Installer l'appareil dans un endroit bien ventilé à l'abri

Condensation

perform ances. Dans ce cas, ne pas utiliser l'appareil pen-

Entretien des surfaces extérieurs
• Se servie d'un linge à polir or d'un chiffon sec pour enle-
ver la poussière ou les souillures.
• Si les surfaces sont très sales, les frotter avec un linge
doux tre m pé dans un détergent neutre, dilué dans cinq
or six fois son volu m e d'eau, puis essuyer convenable-
m ent les surfaces. N e pas utiliser de cire ou de produit
pour m eubles.
• N e ja m ais utiliser de diluant pour peinture, de benzine
ou d'insecticide en ato miseur sur or à proximité de l'ap-

FEATURES
BPM Counter
The auto BPM counter provided allo ws the te m po of songs
to be checked visually. This counter can be switched be-
tw een real-tim e and average.
3-Band Equalizer & Kill
A 3-band equalizer corresponding to the HI, MID, and LO W
channels. The attenuation level also serves as a kill func-
tion w hich can decrease the level to –26 dB.
Peak Level Meter
The peak level m eter provided is equipped with 9-bit LED
indicators for each channel. This m eter can be switched to
display the m aster level or channel level.
Fader Start
The CD player can be started by increasing the level of the
cross fader or channel fader, w hich is selected using the
cross fader switch. (This function can be used only w hen
the Pioneer CD player CDJ-500 series is connected.)
Allocation Monitor
Enables channel inputs and m aster outputs to be divided
into the left and right headphones and m onitored.
As a result, m usic can be joined accurately.
Enhanced Input / Output Terminals
Equipped with a total of 7 inputs-2 CD inputs, 2 LIN E in-
puts, 2 PH O N O inputs (for M M only), and 1 microphone
input; and 2 outputs.

5 Power Supply Switch (POWER)
Turns O N/O FF the po w er of this unit.
W hen the po w er is turned O N, the unit will be m uted for
about 2 seconds to protect the connected units.
6 Master Control Section
6A Level meter
The level m eter display m ode selection switch enables
tw o levels to be displayed. W hen the level m eter display
m ode indicator is off, the m aster level is displayed. W hen
it is lit, the CH1 and CH2 input levels are displayed. The
peak level is held for 2 seconds.
The display range is –20 dB to +6 dB.
6B Level Meter Display Mode Selection Button
and Indicator
Used for switching the level m eter display m ode.
Each time the button is pressed, the m ode will be switched
betw een the m aster level display and input level display
(CH1, CH2).
The INPU T LEVEL indicator is lit during the input level
display.
W hen the po w er is turned on, the m ode will first be set to
the m aster level display.
7 Cross Fader Section
Cross Fader Volume (CROSS FADER)
O perates w hen the cross fader switch is at the CRO SS
side.
Controls and outputs the CH1 and CH2 signals.
W hen the control is set to the left side, the CH1 signal
increases (To 0 dB) and the CH2 signal decreases (To –∞).
W hen set to the right side, the CH2 signal increases (To 0
dB) and the CH1 signal decreases (To –∞).
7A Fader Start Switch (FADER START) and indi-
cator (Refer to Page 14.)
W hen pressed, the indicator lights up and the fader start
switch turns O N. W hen pressed another tim e, the indica-
tor goes off and the fader start switch goes off.
W hen the optional CD player (CDJ-500 or CDJ-500 ) is
connected to the unit using the co m m ercially available
cord with mini plug (no resistor), this O N/O FF switch is
used to start auto m atic playing of the CD player using the
channel fader or cross fader.

L’i n t e rr u p t e u r d e s é l e cti o n d e m o d e d ’ a ffic h a g e d e
l’indicateur de niveau perm et l’affichage de deux niveaux.
Lorsque l’indicateur de m ode d’affichage de niveau est
désactivé, le niveau principal est affiché. Lorsqu’il est
allu m é, les niveaux d’entrée de CH1 et CH2 sont affichés.
Le niveau m axi est m aintenu pendant 2 secondes.
La portée de l’affichage s’étend de –20 dB à +6 dB.
6B Bouton de Sélection de Mode d’Affichage de
l’Indicateur de Niveau et Indicateur
Servent à l’activation du m ode d’affichage de l’indicateur
de niveau.
A ch a q u e pressio n d u b o uto n, le m o d e altern e e ntre
l’affichage du niveau principal et l’affichage du niveau
d’entrée (CH1, CH2).
L’indicateur de niveau d’entrée ("INPU T LEVEL") reste

7 Section de mise en veille croisée
Curseur de volume croisé (CROSS FADER)
Activée lorsque le bouton de mise en veille croisée est
placé du côté CRO SS
Contrôle et perm et la sortie de signaux CH1 et CH2.
Q uand la co m m ande est placée sur la gauche, le signal
CH1 aug m ente (jusqu'à 0dB), et le signal CH2 décro "t
(jusqu'à –∞).
Q uand la co m m ande est positionnée à droite, le signal
CH2 aug m ente (Jusqu’à 0 dB) et le signal CH1 diminue
(Jusqu’à –∞).

Used for selecting the headphone m onitor sources (CH-
1, CH-2, M A STER).
W hen the button of the desired source is pressed, the

For CH-1 and CH-2, the sound before the channel fader is
set will be output.
For M A STER, the sound after the m aster control is set

neously, only M A STER will be selected. W hen only one
of the channels and M A STER are selected sim ultaneously,

Auto BPM Counter (AUTO BPM COUNTER)
A uto m atically m easures the BPM (Beats per minute (Fac-
tor indicating m usic speed)) of the song and displays it dig-
itally. (*1)
It not only counts the beat of bass sounds but also calcu-
lates, using a co m puter, the original BPM of the song re-
quired by DJs and displays it digitally.
This allo ws the BPM to no w be checked not only with the
ear as done previously but also visually, thereby enabling
songs with different te m pos to be mixed m ore quickly and
sim ply.
The m easure m ent m ode consists of the “real m ode ” w hich
displays the data in real-ti m e and the “ average m ode ”
w hich displays the average value calculated.

Il ne s’agit pas unique m ent d’un co m ptage des batte m ents
des sons graves, m ais égale m ent d’un calcul par ordina-
teur du BPM d’origine de la m élodie dont les Disc-Jockeys
ont besoin et d’un affichage digital.
Ceci perm et ainsi d’apprécier le BPM non plus unique m ent
à l’oreille co m m e par le passé, m ais égale m ent visuelle-
m ent, ce qui offre la possibilité de mixer plus rapide m ent
et plus aisé m ent des m élodies de te m pos différents.
Le m ode de m esure consiste en un “ m ode réel” qui affiche
les données en te m ps réel et un “ m ode m oyenne ” qui
affiche la valeur m oyenne calculée.

USING THE FADER START FUNCTION
Starting the Cross Fader
1 Set the cross fader switch to CROSS.
2 Turn on the fader start switch (CH-1 or CH-2)
of the channel connected to the player to be
controlled.
3 Move the cross fader fully to the opposite side
of the channel to be started. (In the example,
the CH-1 player is fading in.)

5 To start playing, move the cross fader con-
trol to the channel to be started at the de-
sired time.
Starting the Channel fader
1 Set the cross fader switch to CH.
2 Turn on the fader start switch of the channel
(CH1 or CH2) connected to the player to be
controlled.
3 Turn down the channel fader volume fully.
4 Set the cue point of the player and set the
player to standby at this cue point.
5 To start playing, raise the cross fader volume
at the desired time.
The cue point m ay be preset in the CDJ-500 . In this case,
there is no need for the player to standby at the cue point.
After playing starts, if the fader control is co m pletely re-
turned to the original position, the player will return to
the cue point and set into the standby state.
NOTE:
The player m ay start playing w hen the cord with mini plug
(without resistor) is inserted/disconnected or w hen the
po w er of the m ain unit is turned off with the player po w er
on.

le lecteur en pause à ce point de signal.
5 Pour démarrer la lecture, augmentez le cur-
seur de volume croisé au moment où le dé-
marrage est désiré.
Le point de signal peut être préenregistré pour les CDJ-
500 . Dans ce cas, il n’est pas nécessaire de m ettre le
lecteur en pause à ce point de signal.
A près le dé m arrage de la lecture, le lecteur retournera à
son point de signal et se placera en pause si la co m-
m ande de volu m e est ra m enée dans sa position initiale.
REMARQUE:
Le lecteur peut dé m arrer lorsque le cordon mini-fiche (sans
résistance) est raccordé/déco n necté, o u lorsq ue l'u nité
principale est mise hors tension, alors que le lecteur reste
sous tension.

Replacement of Cross Fader Volume Control

The unit has a structure w hich allo ws its cross fader to be
replaced.

1 Disconnect the po w er plug of the unit fro m the outlet.
2 Pull up the knob A of the cross fader and re m ove.

4 Re m ove the cross fader asse m bly fro m the unit, and
disconnect the connector D.
5 Re m ove the tw o scre ws E and replace the cross fader A
volu m e control with a ne w one.
6 A ttach th e scre ws E, co n n ector D, slid er p a n el C,
scre ws B, and knob A of the cross fader in the reverse
order of the above.
Fully insert the connector D into the cross fader asse m bly.
If it is not fully inserted, the unit will not w ork correctly.

Procédez de la m anière suivante :
1 Débranchez la fiche d’alim entation de l’appareil au ni- D
veau de la prise secteur. B B
2 Tirez sur le bouton A du curseur de volu m e et retirez- C
le.
3 Retirez les deux vis B ainsi que le panneau du curseur <CH–1 CH–2>
C.
4 Détachez de l’appareil l’ense m ble du curseur du volu m e
et débranchez le connecteur D. A
5 Retirez les deux vis E et re m placez la co m m ande du
curseur de volu m e par une nouvelle.
6 Fixez les vis E, le connecteur D, le panneau du curseur
C, les vis B et le bouton A du curseur de volu m e dans
l’ordre inverse du dé m ontage.
Insérez à fond le connecteur D dans l’ense m ble du curseur E E
de volu m e. S’il n’est pas correcte m ent inséré, l’appareil ne
fonctionnera pas.

REMARQUES:
• N e touchez pas les co m posants internes et ne glissez pas
la m ain dans l’appareil, car vous risqueriez de l’endo m-
