ABSTRACT THE USE OF TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE FIFTH CLASS MI DINIYYAH PUTRI

LAMPUNG By MIRZAWAN The purposes of this research were (1) to analyze the design of lesson plan using TPR method, (2) to analyze the implementation of learning using the TPR method, (3) to analyze the learning evaluation system on learning using the TPR method, (4) to analyze students vocabulary achievement using the TPR method. This classroom action research was carried out in MI Diniyyah Putri Lampung. This research comprised 3 cycles. The data were collected using observation, assessment sheet activities, and tests. The data processing includes data analysis, reviewing data, data reduction, data inference, and interpretation of data. The technique analysis is descriptive quantitative. These results of analysis indicated that (1) There is improvement on Lesson Plan in learning English vocabulary using syntax of TPR method. (2) There is an increased activity of students learning: observing, imitating the action, giving command, accuracy and speed of carrying out the instructions and asking question activity. (3) There is improvement in the quality of evaluation system with 20 multiple choice questions. The validity of the instrument in the first cycle (0, 31) low category, the second cycle (0, 48) medium category , the third cycle (0, 63) high category and the reliability of the instrument, the first cycle (0,47) low category, the second cycle (0, 65) high category, the third cycle (0, 77) high category. The level of difficulty in the first cycle (0, 27) was easy category, the second cycle (0. 32) medium category and the third cycle (0, 39) high category and distinguishing features in the first cycle (0, 29) enough category, the second cycle (0, 31) enough category and the third cycle (0, 33) enough category. (4) There is an increased students English vocabulary achievement in each cycle. In the class VA, the first cycle, the average score is 62, 8 enough category. The second cycle, average score 67, 3 enough category, the third cycle, average score 73, 9 high category. In the class VB the first cycle, average score is 65, 7 enough categories. The second cycle, average scores 69, 0 sufficient category. The third cycle, average scores 74, 0 high category. In the third cycle of the research was discontinued because the value of all the students has already completed and the average value is 70, 0 was achieved both in class VA or VB. In other words, the four indicators that have been reached. Key words: TPR, vocabulary
