There are periodic trends that can be explained by atomic structure, for which we need to understand a little physics.

Electromagnetic Radiation:

How Does This Affect Our Study of Chemistry?

Hydrogen Line Spectra & The Bohr Model of the Atom


Johann Balmer (1825-1898) and Johannes Rydberg (1854-1919) - examined the four visible lines in the spectrum of the hydrogen atom. - played around with these numbers and eventually figured out that all four wavelengths fit into the Rydberg Equation:

Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle
