NCR STUDENT LEADERS CONGRESS 2013 Unity. Service. Action

NCR Student Leaders congress 2013 is a regional student leaders general assembly that aims to gather incumbent and/or newly elected student councils, government and federation that is geared towards the promotion of and mobilization for advocacies that concern our leadership and constituency. This project aims to build unity among student representatives in higher educational institutions in the National Capital Region, to uphold student rights and welfare, and to promote genuine reforms and changes in the country. BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PROJECT RATIONALE 1. Project context The Filipino youth and students have always played a crucial role in the Filipino peoples struggle for genuine social change. They are in the forefront, whenever the national and social crisis become intolerably acute. They are the spearhead and cutting edge of the broad masses of the people. Historical records show that young men and women in their late teens, twenties and thirties predominate in the leadership and membership of the patriotic forces and organizations that lead tactical reforms to address the needs the youth, students and the country as a whole. In more than 2,000 higher educational institutions in the country composed of private, state-run and local universities, 287 of these are actually the countrys prime universities which are located in the National Capital Region. Thus, it is noted that the region is the countrys base for higher education. The student councils have reached great influence in committed leadership to the Filipino people and thus inspire students and advocates to be enthusiastic in learning to lead and serve. Objectives 1. UNITY Gather and unite NCR student leaders to promote progressive leadership among student councils. Tackle students and peoples concerns, issues, problems and proposed solutions. 2. SERVICE Unleash individual potentials; promote holistic development within the institution and leadership skills acquisition. Generate projects that will extend service to the community. 3. ACTION Communicate and coordinate with different sectors in the community in our struggle for genuine social change.
