Good Morning

My name is Timothy Sinclair and I am a Triple A School Safety Patroller at Richard L. Brown Elementary School, #148 in Jacksonville, Florida. I have aspired to participate in this program since I was a kindergartener. Im in 5th Grade and my Patrol Responsibilities are to model leadership traits, report to post on time, enforce school safety rules, raise and take down the American Flag, and assist students during arrival and dismissal. As a patroller, I also help teachers, by running errands or supervising students. I feel that I have learned so much about being a good citizen and I am glad to know that I am helping to serve my school. Participating in this program has helped me to become a better leader by teaching me to be responsible, dedicated, and respectful of authority. Being responsible is important because it really shows that you have matured during life. It shows that you are trustworthy and value others time and investment in helping you. My participation in the patrol program allowed me to develop this quality and to learn these skills by doing tasks that require me to act responsibly or lose the privilege of being a patroller. If you are not responsible, you maybe asked to relinquish your safety patrol belt and the power that goes with it. Being dedicated is another important quality because it shows that you are dependable. When you are dedicated; students, teachers, and administrators trust you to stay with a job until it is done well. The patrol program requires the members to come to school, report to post on time and stay on post until the job is complete.

Having respect for authority, is a very important quality that good leaders must have because it shows that you are willing to cooperate and function in a civilized manner and be a good citizen. Every good leader must learn to respect others in leadership positions. The patrol program helped me to develop this quality by allowing me to be a leader and this helps me understand the necessity of working with other leaders. I have respect for everyone at my school. I especially respect my principal, vice-principal, patrol advisor, and my teachers. I am very happy to have the opportunity to be a Triple A School Safety Patroller. I think that is a great program that benefits the students, the school, and the community. I really, really, hope that this amazing program continues in the future. Who knows maybe my children will be a part of this awesome program many, many, many years from now. If so, I will share with them the importance of being a responsible, dedicated and respectful leader of the community. Thank you Mr. Simpson. Thank you Mrs. Jenkins. Last, but just as important, Thanks to the American Automobile Association School Safety Program and all of the terrific people that have helped to make this program available to so many proud students for so many years.

SincerelyTimothy Langston Sinclair 5th Grade Class President @ Richard L. Brown Elementary School Jacksonville, Florida
