EC Vancouver Arrival and First Day

AIRPORT TRANSFERS Airport transfers can be arranged by EC if requested in advance. All flight details including arrival time, flight numbers, airline and point of origin have to be advised prior to arrival in order for EC to provide airport transfers. Failure to notify the airport transfer number of flight delays/cancellations will result in assessment of fees. Students who have booked airport transfer and have a change of flight on their trip to Canada should call the school during office hours (Monday to Thursday 08:30-18:00, Friday 08:30-16:30 local time) or the airport transfer cell telephone after hours. The airport transfer number is active outside of office hours whenever EC is expecting a student who has bookedairport transfer. Airport transfer number: +1 604 773 0488 A irport Transfer Procedure for International Arrivals (If you are flying from any city outside of Canada and do not have to switch planes in a Canadian city.) Go through 2 sets of automatic glass doors and out to the Public Meet and Greet area. Continue walking until you see 2 large wooden statues in the Main Public International Arrivals Area. Make sure you are looking in the right area. Do not go upstairs or out of the building. You will find us holding our yellow Language Limousine sign in front of the 2 large wooden statues. Do Not Leave The Airport. If you cannot locate us, call 604 988-7639 and you will be helped immediately. Inform us of any flight changes by calling 604 988-7639 or you may be charged an additional fee. A irport Transfer Procedure for Domestic Arrivals (All Brazilians/South Americans transferring in Toronto or are flying from any Canadian city, follow these instructions.) Go to the baggage carousel and wait for us there. Do not go to the international terminal. If you cannot find us call 604 988-7639 or talk to the Green Coat volunteers. They all know us. All Domestic Arrivals wait at the baggage carrier and look for a small yellow sign that says Language Limousine. All domestic arrivals please wait at baggage carousel. Students who have not booked airport transfer should contact their homestay or residence directly if their flight is delayed.

TRANSPORTATION It is easy to travel to school by public transit. Students should allow themselves plenty of time on their first day to arrive at school.

FIRST DAY Students are expected to arrive at school at 8:30am on their first morning. They should bring the following to school with them on the first day: passport health insurance policy Letter of Acceptance Study Permit if required funds for payment of any outstanding fees proof of health insurance (for the entire length of programme)

PLACEMENT TEST Once students arrive at the school, they are evaluated so that we can place them in the appropriate level. On first day, students have the evaluation, registration, and information session about school services, as well as a guided walking tour of the school surroundings. It takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to complete all the steps of registration on the first day. In the months of July through September, it may take longer. 25 Lessons and 30 Lessons students begin their classes as of 14:10 on the first day. 20 Lessons students begin their classes at 09:00 on the next day.

WHEN AIRPORT TRANSFERS HAVE NOT BEEN BOOKED There are a variety of inexpensive and reliable alternatives to get from the airport to the student's destination. These options are are not arranged by the school. The student can find out more information about these services at the airport. These rates are subject to change without notice. PUBLIC HOLIDAY 2013 Public Holidays: 1 January, 11 February, 29 March, 20 May, 1 July, 5 August, 2 September, 14 October, 11 November, 25 December, 26 December Christmas Holiday 2013 Dates: 25 & 26 December 2013; 1 January 2014. EC Vancouver is open 52 weeks for classes.
