Resumen
Abstract
Objective: This study seeks to determine the incidence of pregnant reactive human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV) by ELISA technique to go to the virology laboratory of the
Public Health Regional Health Tumbes for the periods 2006-2008. We used simple
descriptive design, retrospective, non-probabilistic. Material and methods: The universe
was composed of pregnant women from 100% (43) of health facilities of the Regional
Health Tumbes who attended the test screening for HIV by the ELISA technique in this
period. Total pregnant women who were tested HIV screening (screening) by ELISA
technique: 2006 (2.470), 2007 (2.567), 2008 (3737). Results: We determined the regional
impact per year, calculating the number of pregnant women who attended the screening
test performed: 2006 (0.16%) 2007 (0.12%) 2008 (0.29%). Of the thirteen (100%) districts
in the Tumbes region in six (46%) are reactive to HIV pregnant women. Conclusions: The
incidence of pregnant reactive screening by ELISA for human immunodeficiency virus is
increasing every year. In 2008 the increase in incidence was more than 100% in the year
2007. Pregnant reactive HIV ELISA, was found in six (46%) districts in the region of
Tumbes.
