To form the plural of some nouns ending in f or fe, change the f to ve and add es. Ex. Knife- Knives Life- Lives leaf- Leaves

For some nouns the plural is formed by changing a vowel sound or by adding a syllable. Ex. Mouse- Mice Goose- Geese Child- Children

Some nouns are the same in the singular as they are in the plural. EX. Deer Equipment Jewelry

To form the plural of hyphenated compound nouns, make only the most important noun plural. EX. Mothers-in-law Editors-in-chief
