We all know about intranets; but are we aware of its optimum capability? Yes, its a productivity tool. However often organisations undermine its full potential by using it merely as a place to abandon data. Intranets can serve as a valuable business tool, improving business processes and increasing collaboration; and thats exactly where most organisations fall short of the mark. Corporate intranets are now a strong force for communicating company vision with employees, enhancing accuracy, information sharing and thereby positively impacting the overall productivity. The government sector in Australia has also benefited hugely with a continual revamp of their intranets, and their journey is indeed a learning in itself. As the demands on time increases, effective communication and enhanced productivity becomes vital to eliminate time consuming protocols. Intranets thus need to be creatively designed in a manner that strategically addresses the current needs of an organisation and operates as an indispensable business tool.
