PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In previous years, two partner organizations (Brandenburgische Sportjugend im Landessportbund Brandenburg e.V. from Germany and Everything is Possible from United Kingdom) of the current project worked together in order to develop a variety of good practice in Vocational Education and Training (VET) for trainees with a background of social obstacles and in order to offer them different vocational and pre-vocational opportunities. Through this past cooperation they already investigated the support needs of such a target group in accessing VET abroad and, through joint working, discovered the obstacles preventing them accessing VET. As a result Leonardo pathway passport (booklet) was produced which would support the target group in their access to international VET and travel throughout their VET experience. This new partnership through project Effective Inclusion, starting in September 2011 and finishing in August 2013, has involved a new partner organization Gantalcala from Spain. Partners agreed to develop Guidelines for Sending and Hosting Organizations of trainees with fewer opportunities. The focus was to define common standards for the organizations in order to provide quality support for trainees and tackle specific challenges and problems. Also, recommendations and suggestions were gathered through sharing of good practice examples between the partner organizations. It was decided to investigate and improve VET-opportunities available to this target group in each of the partner areas and endeavor to develop a better service for these learners with fewer opportunities. The partnership was used to define for hosting and sending organizations the support that is necessary to give to the target group in order to make the VET opportunities more successful for each of the involved. Even if all the partners are experienced in working with the target group there is nevertheless a different approach of working in the international context. The purpose of this Vocational Education and Training (VET) opportunities Catalogue is to collect the descriptions of potential VET opportunities and learning possibilities for trainees in partner countries. Organizations chose their own design, font and formatting for the description of the traineeship. The amount and content of the information could vary dependent on the traineeship. Nevertheless, some basic information was included in all of the descriptions of the traineeship. For this reason, the special form had to be followed when preparing descriptions of the traineeships.

WORK WITH YOUTH? SOCIAL WORK? EDUCATION? GROUP LEADERSHIP? COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES?

IF YES, THIS TRAINEESHIP IS FOR YOU!

Bradford Foyer, one of over 100 nationwide, supports young people aged 16-25 who, for a number of reasons, are unable to live at home, bridge the gap between leaving home and becoming successful and confident adult members of society. Bradford Foyer aims to help young people make the transition to independence in a planned way and at a pace suited to their individual development. Young people benefit from the 'campus style' environment, which provides safe, secure and modern accommodation and a Foyer community that supports them to develop social skills and build friendships with other young people from a variety of backgrounds. Bradford Foyer achieves this by providing youth with access to supported accommodation with a range of integrated facilities and support services education and vocational guidance; skills training; links with employers and work training placements in their local community and in other European countries. Bradford Foyers hope for each young person who comes to live and learn there, is that they start to believe that they have much to give to their City and that in return, they will be part of the success of the regeneration of the City of Bradford.

Briefly about TRAINEESHIP:

There are two activities for trainees either working directly with residents, supporting them in general Foyer/community work, such as budgeting skills and preparation for independent living or working in the Foyer Media centre where young people will be engaged in radio & film activity. Part of the time will be spent on these core activities, the rest of the time will be spent on community activities such as supporting education programmes in the National Media Museum or in local schools running media diplomas with Bradford Foyer & college staff. All the activities on this project will focus on social inclusion. The trainees will be fully integrated into the daily practice of our setting. They will be working with young people and will be able to try different activities. It offers the trainee excellent opportunities for cultural exploration, arts, music, sport and social work. We also like to give the trainees opportunities to undertake personal projects. We are particularly keen to develop cultural awareness within our curriculum and would certainly be happy for the trainee to talk to the youth about their own country and culture and perhaps teach some basic language. All the trainees will be insured for the period of traineeship and always supported by mentor.
