Minutes-
May, 2009
President Dana Crooks called the Pioneer Lutheran
Church Council meeting to order on Wednesday, May
1, 2009 at 8:00 pm following Lenten services.
Present were Glen Thompson, Tiffany Petersen ,
Aimee Lutz, Arlene Madsen, and Pastor Tyler Hepner.
Kevin Quail was absent, and Larry Holler arrived late.
Pastor Hepner passed-out a pamphlet on a simple way
to pray and opened with prayer. He then led
devotions on Paul’s letter to the Corinthians regarding
the perseverance of Christians in trying times. Pastor
Hepner asked the council to recite the 123rd Psalm.
The meeting proceeded.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the April, 2009
meeting were presented to the council. Tiffany
Petersen moved to accept the minutes as presented.
Glen Thompson seconded the motion, and the motion
passed. Minutes from the post-fire meeting were
presented to the council. Glen Thompson moved to
motion and the motion passed.

Treasurer’s Report: Arlene Madsen presented the
monthly treasurer’s report. Kevin Quail moved to
accept the Treasurer’s report and pay bills. Tiffany
Petersen moved to accept the treasurer’s report.
Aimee Lutz seconded the motion, and the motion
passed. Arlene discussed that a check for $25,000
was advanced from our insurance to cover initial
expenses for the loss of the church building and
furnishings. Arlene started a new account with this
money.
OLD BUSINESS:
Insurance status: Dana discussed that the insurance
company is supposed to provide a report to the church
next week and we can proceed from there. A residues
report from the debris is also expected next week.
Once the residue report is returned we can decide how
to proceed with clean-up.
Dana asked for additional old business. Seeing none
he proceeded to new business.
NEW BUSINESS:
Sunday Services: Sunday services will be held at the
Quails residence at 10:00 am on May 10, 2009. From
May 17, 2009 forward Sunday services will be held at
the White Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 am.
Hymnals, bibles, piano and chairs can be stored at the
home, and the Funeral home does not want any rent
for use of the facility.
Thanks You: Dana asked for help in writing thank
you notes to the many people that have provided
support as a result of the loss of church building.
Tiffany Petersen, Aimee Lutz, and Glen Thompson
volunteered to help Dana write thank you notes.
Senior Sunday: Senior recognition Sunday was
discussed. Lucas Quail will be reading, and seniors
will be given a picture of the church.
Calling Pastor Tom Walker: In light of recent
incidence, Pastor Walker is willing to let go of his ties
to ELCA and is planning to join the LCMC . A letter
of call will be issued to Pastor Tom Walker to become
a Mission Pastor at Pioneer Lutheran Church.
Mowing Bid: A mowing bid for $130/mowing was
received from Lucas Quail. Larry Holler moved to
accept the bid. Tiffany Petersen seconded, and the
motion passed.
Pastor’s Report: Pastor Hepner had 6 visitations and
prepared 3 sermons and 4 bulletins. Pastor Hepner
wrote 1 newsletter and 7 web blogs. Pastor Hepner
discussed the meeting will Bill Sullivan who
encouraged the church to spend a month in prayer
before making plans on proceeding with building. Bill
Sullivan is the Director of LCMC and conveyed his
support of the LCMC as we begin to rebuild.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned and the
Lord’s Prayer was said in closing. The May meeting
will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.

 Special Meeting of the Pioneer Lutheran
Church Council Minutes- May, 2009
President Dana Crooks called to order a special
meeting of the Pioneer Lutheran Church Council
meeting held at the Madsen residence April 22, 2009
at 7:00 am. Present were Larry Holler, Tiffany
Petersen, Aimee Lutz, Kevin Quail, Arlene Madsen,
Glen Thompson, George Madsen, Lew Weeks, and
Pastor Tyler Hepner. Also present was a GuideOne
Insurance representative, Mike Herishen.
Pastor Hepner led with a prayer by Von Ludwig and
then read the Apostle’s creed. Mike Herishen
discussed the particulars of our insurance policy. Our
policy has a $500 deductible. Our coverage is up to
$485,200 replacement coverage ($411,000 building
and 74,200 contents). Additionally, there is coverage
for debris removal, interim facility rental, and lost
business expenses. There is also a clause that will
allow for the added expense of code upgrades for the
replacement. We can use our own contractor or one
provided by the insurance company.
The GuideOne representative left and the meeting
continued.
A location for future meetings of the Pioneer Lutheran
Church congregation was discussed. Numerous offers
have been received, and Dana will evaluate the offers
to determine which will work best and announce
where services will be held.
Pastor Tyler Hepner discussed that Bill Sullivan the
Director of LCMC will be passing through May 2,
2009 and would like to meet with the council. George
& Arlene Madsen agreed to host dinner that Saturday
evening.
Dana Crooks discussed forming a visioning
committee for re-building the church.
Arlene discussed the feasibility of continuing to plan
the 125th celebration. In light of the current events,
Larry Holler moved to postpone plans for the 125th
anniversary celebration until the building is complete.
Kevin Quail seconded the motion and the motion
passed. Arlene suggested have the 125th anniversary
celebration and dedication of the new building
together.
Options for VBS were discussed but no decisions
were made.
Adjournment: The Lord’s Prayer was said in
conclusion.

Pioneer Vacation Bible Camp July 5-9, 2009
