KITARO KOJIKI

This is the album who changed my life. A powerful thunder and then heartbeat sounds are opening the first track

Chapter I: Hajimari (In the beginning) 3:33 which illustrates the prelude of a story which take us back in the ancient history of Japan. Here we recognize a deep classical influence on his music but based upon traditional archaic

japanese roots. And pay attention at the end of this magnificent track where youll hear a short amazing violin solo. Immediately connected with the next one Chapter II: Sozo (The birth of a land) 5:35, by sharp metallic fascinating sounds, this track is very complex and has a lot of details like traditional ZEN sounds used by the masters in temples, ancient melodic flute tune, classical orchestral background and be prepared for the most heartful melody youve ever heard your life exactly at 2:00 minutes after the opening of the track. This is the first reason of my words This album changed my life. All the rest of this track is based just on the most simple 5 notes you can imagine, but you cant stop hear them on and on. Choir and orchestra then are colouring in the most fascinating way the melody which unfolds magically. And the end is a little melancholic, due to a story related to this music and you must read this story from the booklet. Chapter III: Koi (Love and death of Izanami) 6:30 Is separated by a short pause and is introducing a variation of the 5 notes melody which here is fantastically blended with sharp sounds efffects and metallic clips which I enjoy them so much. Violin and clarinet then are taking the first place and continuing in duet the musical magic. Then whole orchestra is filling the entire picture. The second part of the track as its title also express, is a little more melancholic but very beautiful. The flute and the violin are found here in pure symbiosis. And again, the first motiv is showing its presence. I feel this music as an entity . I always considered the music of Kitaro being alive. And pay attention on the end for the metallic sharp drops , very beautifully arranged by Kitaro for connecting with the next track Chapter IV: Orochi (The eight headed Dragon) 7:07 a real ninja atmospheric sounds. Fantastic rhythms and traditional tunes mixed in a classical aura. Then the attention is captivated by the percussion. Beautiful rhtyhms and warrior flute melody from ancient times. I just dont have enough words to describe everything I am hearing. The music is so complex then words just cant follow a real description. Flute, guitars interventions , pwercussion and orchestra are alchemically mixed in a unity. And a surpise on its end a beautfiul long gong effect. This describes an old legend about a japanese hero who fights and win the dragon Orochi.

Chapter V: Nageki (Sorrow in a world of darkness) 5:45 This one opens in a wind atmosphere, and is a melancholic track, featuring the flute motiv heard in track 3 part 2.but in extended version. Chapter VI: Matsuri (The festival) 9:00 Now pay all the attention you have for this track. But first please take a moment for preparing you for the audition. First close your eyes and relax as much as you can. Close also all your phones and cells and be assure that nothing can disturb you for the next 9 minutes. OK. Then play track 6. After a short calm introduction, the music is featurning the specific ZEN rhtyhm used in japanese ZEN monasteries and temples when the disciples are called for reunion. And believe me, you listeners are now all called to a musical reunion that you had never encountered before. This is the most fascinating piece of music emanating the joy, the dance, the power, the shining spirit of Japan as you had ever heard !!. Double flute with pizzicatto percussion and orchestra are presenting here something beyond any possible description. This is also a musical poetry at his highest level. Rise the volum at your amplifier at maximum, also the high and low frequencies from your equalizer at maximum, and enjoy the poetry. You ll feel like a Ninja in the middle of the incantations and rhythms. Then after this unwanted ending (sorry it had to ends somewhere) a beautiful choir and then the flute are playing the main motiv from track 3 part 1. And yes, you had guess the conclusion of all the musical chronicles is presented in the last track Chapter VII: Reimei (The new dawn) 8:37 which also has some fantastic bells sounds which you may hear very closely. Kitaro , my dear friend , I love your music from all my heart, body and soul ! Never stop producing it ! And this is the album I played over and over again, at least hundred of times. Can you believe that you could have a CD and play it over 100 times ? Believe it !I just did not wanted the music to end and I played it very many times every single day for years. This one really changed my life! Cristian Muresanu
