Severe respiratory distress with drooling of saliva & open mouth breathing

**Clinical signs
1- dullness ,depression, anorexia ,cessation of rumination(rumen stasis & decrease in milk yield. 2-shallow,rapid respiration. 3-cough (dry or moist) ,painful or painless ,single or continuous. 4-dyspnea in sever stage 5-nasal discharge (bilateral) 6-M.Mcongested then cyanosed. 7-fever & tachycardia (in acute cases).

8-by auscultation of chest:a)in bacterial pneumonia by auscultation of the anterior ventral lobe of lung reveals: of breath soundthen become crackels & later on wheezes b)in viral pneumonia (early stage)harsh breath sound. c)in case of lobar pneumoniahearing of one abnormal sound allover lung lobes. d)in case of bronchopneumonia(more common)hearing of different lung sound indifferent area in one lobe (in anterioventral lobe)normal+crackles +wheezes. e)in sever case (lung consolidation) radiating heart sound (hearing of h.s allover lung area).

Treatment
A-medical treatment: 1-injection of broad spectrum antibiotic e.g: -Streptopencid 2 vial /I.M/every 12 hr/cattle vial/I.M/every 12 hr/sheep or Gentamycin 10% 4cm /100 kg b.wt/I.M/every 24 hr 2-give antipyretic (in case of fever) e.g: Analgine 10 cm/100 kg b.wt/I.V or I.M 3-give anti-inflammatory (in acute case) Dexamethasone 5-12 cm /cattle /I.M or I.V/every 24 hr 1-5 cm /sheep & calves/I.M or I.V/every 24 hr or Finadyne 2 cm /45 kg b.wt/I.V or I.M/every 24 hr

4-give bronchodilator e.g: Aminophylin 1 ampule /70 kg b.wt/I.M or I.V/every 24 hr 5-give mucolytic drug e.g: Bisolvon 1 ampule /70 kg b.wt/I.M/every 24 hr 6-give expectorant & cough sedative e.g : Expectyl or Bronchistal or Bronchophane 30 ml /orally/cattle/12 hr 5 ml / orally/sheep/12 hr N.B:---in case of dry coughgive Tussilar or Codilar or Tussivan. 7-give anti-histaminic e.g: Avil 1 ampule /70 kg b.wt/I.M or I.V/24 hr 8-give glucose 5 % or saline 0.9 % : 1-2 liter/I.V/24 hr 9-give Cepharol (vit c) : 1 ampule /70 kg b.wt/I.V N.B: **it is better to give the drugs which given I.V in the fluid therapy as one dose.

B-Hygienic treatment (very important): 1-isolation of affected animal + compelet rest 2-provid well ventilated place 3-avoid exposure of animal to air droughts & cold 4-give the animal easily digestible & palatable food + fresh water

**Vaccination :
give Cattle Master 4 (IBR,Parainfluenza 3,BRSV & Mucosal disease) -vaccinat the dam in 7th month of pregnancy & 2 weeks before parturition -give 5 cm , s/c

TYPES
1-Chronic interstitial pneumonia : -common occur in old age ,due to viral or inhalation of toxic gases. **1-sever dyspneaextension of head & neck, opening of mouth and protrusion of tongue 2-easily induced cough 3-by auscultation of lung week or absence of VF sound.

2-Verminous broncho-pneumonia (lung worm infestation)

1-very severe dyspnea , cyanosis & recumbancy 2-paroxysmal cough + expectoration of mucus containing the adult worm or larvae 3-shallow rapid respiration (100/minute) 4-by auscultation of lung harsh vesicular & bronchial sound.

Treatment:

1-give broad spectrum anthelmentics e.g: Ivermectin 1cm/50 kg b.wt/S.C 2-give antihistaminic e.g: Avil 1 ampoule/70 kg b.wt/I.M 3-give antibiotic (for secondary infection) 4-give Vit c(Cepharol) 1 ampoule /70 kg b.wt/I.M
