for revealing the power of prayer in a way that has caused results to happen in my life. My husband, Terry, who was willing to implement the teachings in this book to cause mighty turn arounds in our life through binding, loosing and dispatching. Our prayers of agreement caused impossible situations to be reversed and many financial miracles to occur. Patty Sell, who saw mighty changes occur in her family as she used these teachings to take back family members from the ways of the world. She truly has been an inspiration in the area of binding, loosing, dispatching, the prayer of agreement, and in getting results. Dave Smith, who insisted that I get this manual published and has stayed on top of getting this publication. His persistence is the reason this is now available.

PRAYER THAT CHANGES THINGS

CHAPTER 1
In this study on prayer we are going to investigate several different types of prayer. First of all, prayer, according to Websters Dictionary is "a devout petition to, or any form of spiritual communion with God, or an object of worship, to petition or entreat." For prayer to be prayer it must be verbalized; otherwise it
4

is just "a thought". Without being vocalized, and I know this will prove controversial, as how does that he does not give those who have the ability. If you went through your grade school years with the ability to speak, but refused to speak, the school would not give you the grace they would a person who was not capable of speaking. God expects you to do what you can do and He will do what you cannot do. Prayer requires speaking. The Word says in Romans 10:10 that it requires confession for salvation, yet a mute person cannot confess. Perhaps they actually can, even sign language is recognized as a "language". ROMANS 10:10 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Either way, we are not disputing mute people, but again prayer is verbal. A thought is mental activity. It falls in the category of meditation, contemplation, consideration and reflection. Nowhere in the definition by Websters Dictionary does it include prayer". Also none of the definitions of "prayer" are found in the definitions of "thought". They are not one in the same. Prayer has many aspects and can be used to accomplish many things in the spirit realm. Since it is a spiritual communion with God then it has spiritual properties that can be tapped into to make it more effective. James said we have not because we ask amiss. We are asking with misunderstanding that the request is evil, corrupt or has the wrong motive behind it and is not right before God. JAMES 4:3 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. One of the types of prayer we are going to investigate is the prayer of supplication and the prayer of intercession. They are different, yet one is more effective for a particular request than the other. Intercession is a common key word used in the church yet in reality the majority of the time the "intercessors" are actually making supplication! Lets look at what happens when we pray. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PRAY Amazing things happen when you pray. If we could see into the spirit realm every time we prayed, I think we would be amazed at what we see happening and would probably be more motivated to pray than we ever have

before. Let's start in the Old Testament with Job and see how several versions of the Bible translate these passages. KING JAMES JOB 36:32-33; 37:1-3 32 With clouds he covereth the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt. 33 The noise thereof showeth concerning it, the cattle also concerning the vapour. 37:1 At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. 2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. 3 He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth. In Chapter 36, verse 32, the word clouds in the Hebrew translates "palm of a hand". The words "cometh betwixt" is the Hebrew word "paga" which is also the same word translated as intercession in Isaiah 59:16. It also means, "strikes the mark". The New King James says: NEW KING JAMES JOB 36:32-37:3 32 He covers His hands with lightning, And commands it to strike. 33 His thunder declares it, The cattle also, concerning the rising storm. 37:1 At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place. 2 Hear attentively the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that comes from His mouth. 3 He sends it forth under the whole heaven, His lightning to the ends of the earth. Elihu, in the book of Job, was stating that God covers His hands with lightning and He sends it forth. When He sends it forth it strikes the mark. But how do we know it is the prayers He is answering. Let's look at how this is described in Revelation 8:3-5. REVELATION 8:3-5 3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. 5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. This reminds us of the phrase "what goes up must come down". It appears that when prayers go up from the earth to God, there are "altar attendants" (angels) that take censers and fill them with incense and the prayers of the saints and present it before God. They then take the censers and fill them with the fire of the altar and throw it back down to earth. The events that follow are multi-directional. "Voices, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake" are such big categories that whole studies could be done about those four words alone. Just to give you some idea of what those four categories are, they include the following: 1. VOICES The prophetic words sent by God. Today prophetic words from the true servants of the Lord are restoring direction in the church and the lives of the people. (Luke 1:30, 31) (30) And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. (31) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.) 2. THUNDERINGS The return of Gods glory being manifested upon the earth. (Psalms 29:3 The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth; the LORD is upon many waters) 3. LIGHTNINGS An increase in angelic visitation and assistance. (Ezekiel 1:14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning ) 4. EARTHQUAKE Deliverance. Those who are held captive are set free from all the chains that bound them. (Acts 16:25-26) (25) And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. (26) And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.) To sum it up we can say that these different answers follow the act of praying, including the answer being mixed with signs and wonders. Imagine what it must look like, to see the shower of lightening bolts that are bombarding the earth at this very minute as people are praying. Prayer releases God's lightning to "strike the mark". But what is the "mark"? The mark is the thing we are targeting in our prayer. It is accomplishing whatever we requested that was totally in line with His Word.
7

God is directing His power and glory into desired situations with supernatural results. Lets look at Darby's New Translation and the New Century Translation of Job 36:32. 1. DARBYS NEW TRANSLATION JOB 36:32 32 <His> hands he covereth with lightning, and commandeth it where it is to strike. 2. NEW CENTURY TRANSLATION JOB 36:32 32 God fills his hands with lightning and commands it to strike its target. In both these translations, God is commanding where this lightning is going to strike. Using the word "target" in place of "mark" makes it easier to visualize. A "mark" in a sense is a "target". God is in a sense, zeroing in on the area of need with His glory. We need to realize that every time we pray according to His Word, we are painting a target for God to zero in on and strike it? Think about all the targets God wants us to paint. He wants us to target cities, nations, churches, and individual people. Prayer will affect the destiny of individuals, cities, nations and churches. What a powerful privilege we have in prayer. As our prayers ascend and are mixed with incense, man has created a smoke signal to God in which he declares "Send forth the fire!" Our human prayers are exchanged for a heavenly manifestation of the power of God. We are going to take another look at the series of sequences that have happened in this passage of Revelation. To make it easy to understand, it is divided into four parts. SEQUENCE OF EVENTS 1. The saints speak forth their prayers and paint a target. 2. An angel with a golden censer mixes the prayers with much incense and delivers it before God. 3. God sets his sights on the targets. 4. God "strikes the bulls eye" with his lightning or "signs, wonders and answers".
8

THE PRAYERS OF MAN CAUSE AN INVITATION IN HEAVEN FOR A RESPONSE FROM GOD. AND GOD ANSWERS HIS INVITATIONS! Here is an example of God answering an invitation made to him in King Solomons prayer. In 2 Chronicles 7:1-3, Solomon experienced this. 2 CHRONICLES 7:1-3 1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house. 2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house. 3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. The Bible tells us to pray all of the time. The reason is now a lot clearer. It is so that we will paint targets and give God the invitation to strike them. No wonder we are instructed in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to pray without ceasing. 1 THESSALONIANS 5:17 17 Pray without ceasing. Rephrased, in the Greek these three words mean "pray continuously, without interruptions". If the whole body of believers took this seriously and started prayer twenty four (24) hours a day without interruption nation-wide, imagine the impact it would have on this earth! As we would allow God to change us to think and act on that, then God would change the world. Again, try to imagine how effective one uninterrupted hour of prayer could impact a nation if the people of that nation were praying in one accord for that time. Prayer is one of the first steps in fulfilling our priestly duty that God appointed us to walk in.

HOW PRAYER MIXES WITH PRIESTHOOD

Not to lock one into a country club mentality, but for lack of a better illustration, lets think about "priesthood" as a fraternity or a club. To be a member you make application and your application is approved. We have received salvation as a free gift from God and we now stand approved by Him because of the shed blood of Jesus. As members we now have rights or
9

privileges we did not have before, but with those rights and privileges came with new responsibilities. One of the responsibilities we were given by God was that we were to be kings and priests before him. We were not chosen as priests by man, but by God. Man did not institute us into the role of a priest, but God placed us there as part of our responsibilities when we received Jesus as our Savior. Prior to this, we did not carry this responsibility. REVELATION 1:5, 6 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1 PETER 2:4, 5 4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. PETER 2:9, 10 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood , an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1

One of the duties of the priest is to pray. One of the changes God is going to make in the church is to move upon the people to assume their responsibility for prayer. We are priests in transition, being changed from glory to glory. Priests not only pray, but also make sacrifices as part of their spiritual service to God. There are times when prayer will look like a real sacrifice in our lives, but think about the target we are NOT painting for God to strike when we withhold praying. God views prayer as part of our reasonable, normal service to Him. ROMANS 12:1, 2 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
10

In order to understand the functions of our priestly duties, we have to go back and study the Old Testament priesthood. By understanding that, we can understand the functions that were instituted by God. The chief function of the believer-priest today is to pray. The first person that was actually called a priest was Melchizedeck, king of Salem. Notice he ministered in two dimensions. 1. To God on behalf of men 2. To men on behalf of God. GENESIS 14:18-20 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: 20 And blessed be the most high God , which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. The next establishment of the priesthood came with Aaron. EXODUS 27:21, 28:1 21 In the tabernacle of the congregation without the veil, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel. 28:1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office , even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons. Aaron was required to follow a series of rituals in preparation to minister before the Lord. The first part of the preparation was the sacrifice of blood for atonement of sin. Jesus laid down His life for us and shed His blood, making the atonement for our sin. To Aaron, this was a ritual; to us it was received because of a relationship and revelation. At this point in the believer-priest life, we have to make sure that before we go to God in behalf of others, there is no sin in us that would interfere with us going before God. STEP 1: GET YOURSELF RIGHT BEFORE GOD BEFORE YOU COME TO HIM IN BEHALF OF SOMEONE ELSE.

11

Would we want someone to pray for us the way we are praying for them? Would we want the prayers we prayed for someone else to come to pass on us? Would we still pray the way we do now if we knew our prayers were going to come back and yield like answers in our own life? Would we still pray the way we do if we knew God was writing down our prayers and we would have to account for them one day? This is why it is important to be careful how we word our prayers. We need to make sure we have rid ourselves of any strife, sin, offenses and especially the works of the flesh before we go to God. In the Old Testament, not being right before God could cause a priest to loose his life. If we were taken back in time and told today, at this very minute, we were to go into the Holy of Holies, would we come back out alive? As we got closer to that Temple veil, would our repentance get more intense? Yet many times we go before God without preparing ourselves first. We need to see prayer from Gods perspective. He has set up the way we are to approach Him, and we need to remind ourselves of those ways. He has a protocol, or set of rules, for us to follow. STEP 2: PRAY UNTIL YOU SEE LIVES SAVED. Prayers, intercession, and supplication can save the lives of thousands as it did on the day when Aaron took incense and fire from the altar during Korah's rebellion. NUMBERS 16:1-3 1 Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: 2 And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: 3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? NUMBERS 16:5-8,11,28,32 5 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will show who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. 6 This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; 7 And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth
12

choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi. 8 And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi: 11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him? 28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. 32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. Have we ever noticed how one person in a household will seem to get saved and no one else in the house is pleased with their conversion? Like Korah came against Moses and Aaron in Numbers 16, the unsaved family members will come against the one that make Jesus the Lord of their life. Be of good cheer! God has planted us in our family to be a priest in our own household. He has put us there to intervene between the living and the dead, between the saved and the lost, to reconcile them back to God. It was through Aarons intervention that lives were saved after the earth swallowed up Korah and his family and the plague spread among the people. By one man was a plague stopped that would have destroyed the whole nation of Israel. NUMBERS 16:46-49 46 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. 47 And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people. 48 And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. 49 Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah. Our prayers can and will paint the target for God to strike in our household to bring the rest of our family to salvation and to stop the destruction in their lives. Again, think of all the targets in that arena that we have NOT painted. Remember, God is an equal opportunity employer and eventually will employ tomorrow those we prayed for today. Prayer is not the occupation of a select
13

few; it is the occupation of all God's people. God when we humble ourselves and pray.

Look at the power released by

2 CHRONICLES 7:14-16 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. Let me shed some light on the Hebrew word "house" here in verse 16. This word means "family". If that doesn't get us excited, I don't know what will. That verse is saying that God decided to choose our family and He sanctified our family so He can completely put his name there, his eyes there and his heart there continuously. Oh to be where the heart of God is perpetually! God is calling the believer-priest to rise up as Aaron did and stand in the gap between the living and the dead. It doesn't matter what our background is, God has made us a king and priest UNTO HIM, not unto another man. It's time for the church, the believers of Jesus to stop being immature children clinging to the leg of mother refusing to go to school on the first day. We need to put away our childish things and move on to the mature things of God. We should all purpose in our heart to start today and pick up our priestly calling in God. There is no way around it, every priest of God is called and anointed to pray, make supplications and intercede. A PRAYERLESS PRIEST ISN'T A PRIEST AT ALL.

PRAYER THAT CHANGES THINGS CHAPTER 2

15

In this part of the study of prayer we are going to discuss the ingredients of prayer and move on to the first type of prayer, intercession. As a king and priest before the Lord we have the right to enter before the very throne of God with our requests. Jesus taught about a woman who pled her case before an unjust judge and how it availed much. How much more will our God respond to our request. LUKE 18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. PLEADING OUR CASE First of all, let me make this clear. Pleading our case does not mean "beg". God is not moved by begging, but by His Word and faith. When we beg, we are trying to evoke pity from God. God gives mercy, not pity. Jesus never begged God for anything. He operated in a dimension that He expects us to operate in, one of power and authority. The definition of "plead" is: 1. To argue a case or cause in a court of law. 2. To make an allegation in an action or other legal proceeding. In the Hebrew language the word "caphar", which was translated into "plead" in Isaiah 43:26, means to score with a mark as a tally or record, to inscribe, and also to enumerate; to recount, to number". It is obvious from these definitions that the word "plead" was a judicial term, much like what you find in a court of law. We have an invitation to plead our case with God's permission before the courts of Heaven and see Him perform and enforce the verdict. In this following King James scripture, Isaiah uses a word "plead" which translates "to judge and pronounce a sentence." God issued a challenge through his prophets to those who believed in Him, to perform their priestly duty for themselves and those who were in rebellion against Him. Notice the wording in the other listed translations. The first scripture is from the King James. Look how it is translated in the three translation after King James. ISAIAH 43:25-27 25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. 26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

NEW KING JAMES VERSION ISAIAH 43:25-27 25 I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins. 26 Put Me in remembrance; Let us contend together; State your case, that you may be acquitted. 27 Your first father sinned, And your mediators have transgressed against Me. NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION ISAIAH 43:25-27 25 I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. 26 Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence. 27 Your first father sinned; your spokesmen rebelled against me. NEW AMERICAN STANDARD BIBLE VERSION ISAIAH 43:25-27 25 I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins. 26 Put Me in remembrance; let us argue our case together, State your cause, that you may be proved right. 27 Your first forefather sinned, And your spokesmen have transgressed against Me. God wants our sin cleared before the courts of Heaven and he puts no limit on how many times we can plead our case.. He wants us proven "not guilty". Satan, who is everything opposite of a loving God, is a legalist and will take every opportunity to condemn us before God. We are invited under the authority and invitation of our Judge God to clear these accusations through the shed blood of our attorney Jesus Christ. Jesus comes alongside us and formally presents us before the Judge and through our repentance, proves us to be "not guilty." HEBREWS 12:22-24 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
17

23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. Look at the people assembled in your courtroom listening to your case, backing you up, and remembering how God intervened in their behalf. People like Moses, Aaron, Isaiah, Deborah, Paul, Peter, Corrie Ten-Boom, John Wesley, Smith Wigglesworth, angels that are so many that they cannot be numbered and the list goes on. God is pleased when we bring our requests, petitions, and pleas before Him. He loves it when we take His Word before Him, whether it is for repentance or for a petition, to have Him act upon it. Job longed for a place where He could plead his case. JOB 23:3-5 3 Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! 4 I would order my cause before him , and fill my mouth with arguments. 5 I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me. If a man who did not have Jesus as his Savior, did not have the power of the blood or the Holy Spirit inside of him would do that which will bring righteousness into a situation, how much more will our righteous God do justice for us? Job desired to have what we have as believers today. He desired to have a judge that he could come before and make his requests known to him. Job wanted to have everything that we have in our relationship with God but didnt and couldnt because Jesus had not come yet to redeem mankind. The fact that we are presenting our case in accordance to His Word shows we are exercising our faith in God's Word. Look at the verdict of the unrighteous judge and what Jesus had to say about it.

LUKE 18:4-8 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
18

6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect , which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? This word "speedily" not only refers to a time frame meaning shortly or quickly but adds with it the intensity of "mightily" God will intervene in our behalf powerfully. People will know that He did the work and there is no way we can take the glory for ourselves. BUT! If we do not pray, we do not give God anything to work with. GOD DOES NOT WORK IF MAN DOES NOT PRAY.

GET READY TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY What is meant by praying effectively? James told us to pray effectively so there must be something to this. If we can pray effectively, then we can also pray ineffectively. A glass of water to a dry plant can be effective in keeping it alive. That same glass of water has no impact when poured into the ocean. Certain types of prayer are more effective for targeting certain situations. I can repent (which means to stop and turn around from what I am doing that is wrong) but I cannot physically stop someone else from what they are doing that is wrong if they dont want my help. I can only affect what someone else is doing if I pray effectively because God will then intervene. He will be doing the changes, not me. JAMES 5:16-18 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. An effective understanding. prayer begins with knowledge of the Word and

one time and was amazed to hear the instructor say that the laws of many countries are based on the religious beliefs of that nation. To negotiate in a foreign territory required knowledge of the religious beliefs. He said the people of the USA are logic people. Religion has nothing to do with their philosophy when it comes to negotiations. As a result we have lost the very tool of negotiation in our belief structure. We have to go back and look at this the way God set it up and how His laws are the presiding way. Looking at it that way, how much more should we have knowledge of the Word when negotiating in a (spiritual) Heavenly courtroom? This is one area we need to do our homework in. How futile it would be for a lawyer to go before a judge without any facts to prove the innocence of his client. Yet we go before God with the same lack of knowledge and understanding of what God designed and uses to base His outcome on. Most of the time we come before God and we don't have the correct facts or we pray amiss. Many times we just pray and think that if we are doing it incorrectly God will overlook our ignorance. I doubt a judge in a court of law would overlook an attorneys ignorance of the law and just grant him a petition based on the fact he didnt know any better. A good attorney gathers the facts then presents his case. God gave us a covenant in which are all the tools necessary, all the information necessary, and all the instructions we need to be effective in creating a response from His Kingdom. Ignorance of His Word affects our ability to get a response from Him. Imagine knowing the rules for football, but then trying to adapt them to a baseball game. It just doesn't work. We can't play baseball with football rules. We must recognize the conditions God requires to see His various promises fulfilled. Jeremiah stood on the covenant to get the desired results and he knew what the specific part of the covenant was that he was standing on. He had factual knowledge of the part of the covenant he was accessing.

JEREMIAH 14:7,10,11,20,21 7 O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us , do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee.
20

10 Thus saith the LORD unto this people, Thus have they loved to wander, they have not refrained their feet, therefore the LORD doth not accept them; he will now remember their iniquity, and visit their sins. 11 Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. 20 We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee. 21 Do not abhor us, for thy name's sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us. JEREMIAH 15:19-21 19 Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. 20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brazen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD. 21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible. We need to know what God's Word says about the conditions that must be met so that the situation we are petitioning God to answer, will be granted. If there is sin in our own life, we need to repent before even coming to God. Like it was said in the first lesson of this teaching, prepare yourself. A priest does not even think to come before God without the proper preparation. Once we have prepared ourself, then we should bring the petition before God according to His Word. We need to be prepared, do our homework, and find out what the Word says. This is so vital, yet not limited to, praying for the sick. So many faithless prayers include the phrase "if it be Thy will". Jesus never prayed like that. He always knew the Fathers will before He approached any situation. Thats why he retreated to pray all the time. He sought Gods counsel before hand and when the situation was there, He knew the Fathers will and spoke it forth. No where does it say Jesus asked God to heal, if it be Thy will. He spoke forth their healing because He already knew it was Gods will to heal when He encountered the sick. Gods will is that people be healed.
21

If the Lord wills was a statement that James made that has been used to excuse the lack of the Word in lives. The scripture that this phrase appeared in was in regards to a statement he was making to a group of adulterers and adulteresses. They were engaged in lust to the point of envy. They had become entangled with materialism to the point that they were more willing to be a friend of the world, than to be faithful to God. They had crossed over the line and were now being an enemy of God. James then rebuked them and told them to humble themselves. He was not telling the believers to always be on guard because God may not answer their prayers due to the fact that it may not be what the Lord wills. The problem wasnt the Lords will, the problem was the lack of Gods Word and their friendship was not with God but with the world. Gods will is stated clearly in His Word. Look at what James 4 says in context with the Lords will. These people had operated in such evil that even James wasnt sure if God would approve or bless their plans. They were in a dangerous place spiritually as they had been speaking evil of people, judging people and participating in adultery. In verse seven through eleven, James tells them what to do, because he know that IS the will of God, but he is not sure of the rest. The lawgiver God would have to make the final decision. JAMES 4:4-17 4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. 5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. 11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. 12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? 13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
22

14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. If we don't know His will, we need to go research it and then come back and pray. Then, like Moses, we can put God in remembrance of what He said. EXODUS 32:9-14 9 And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. 11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. 14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. Moses knew what God had said and God was not angry that he confronted Him with His own words. I believe God actually enjoyed hearing Moses quote what He had said to Isaiah. That is why God encouraged Isaiah to remind Him of why He should do something. Moses then put this word in action. ISAIAH 43:26 26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. Ignorance of God's Word is no excuse. God does not listen to excuses; He listens and hearkens to His Word. We should not doubt the Word of God, as that leads to unbelief. God has strong things to say to those who operate in unbelief.
23

Believing the Word of God and that He is able and WILL DO what He said is "faith". God's Word says this kind of faith is accounted to us as righteousness and we know that the prayers of a righteous man avail much. Faith was never designed to work by a negative input from the five senses. We can actually exchange the word faith with the word trust in the Bible and it would be proper to do so. It changes the way we see things. Now, instead of saying, Do I have faith for this? we can ask ourselves, Do I have trust in God for this? It will cause us to re-examine just how much we do trust God. If we dont have the trust, here is what God says about himself so that we can trust Him. JEREMIAH 1:12 12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it. ROMANS 4:20-22 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Before we pray, we should know what God has promised in His Word about our petition. This also applies to prophetic promises that are spoken. 1 TIMOTHY 1:18, 19 18 This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; 19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Prophecies are also the Word of God. That is why it is so important to record or write down prophetic words. They are also God's Word when delivered through legitimate prophetic men and women of God. REVELATION 19:10 10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. 1. THE PRAYER OF INTERCESSION A. THROUGH JESUS
24

A lot is being spoken about intercession in the church. Intercession is Biblical and was one of the priestly functions, but it must be done in proper perspective to the Word of God. ISAIAH 53:12 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. The word intercession" here is an act of interceding. intercedes, they do the following two things: When a person

1. Interpose in behalf of one in difficulty or trouble by pleading or petition. 2. To mediate, attempt to reconcile differences between two people or groups. To "intercede" is to intervene. If that is true, and intervention is done between two people or groups to reconcile their differences, then the Word should confirm that intercession is for someone who does not know God, in order to reconcile them to God. If we look at the first definition of intercede, a person is in trouble with God when he does not know Him, and the one doing the intercession is pleading or petitioning God for salvation upon the one that does not know Him. Intercession occurs nine times in the Bible; four of the times in the Old Testament and five in the New Testament. In Isaiah 53:12, Isaiah is referring to Jesus and that He intercedes for the transgressor. This transgressor in the Hebrew is in rebellion to God, does not know God and is not part of the household of God. This is a non-believer. We were transgressors against God until we were reconciled to Him by the shed blood of Jesus, and now are no longer enemies of God, but sons. Yet Jesus still makes intercession for us, reconciling us to God when we sin. Reconciliation occurs through the blood of Jesus Christ. ROMANS 8:34 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. HEBREWS 7:22-25 22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament. 23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
25

24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. In Hebrews 7, intercession was done by Jesus for the non-believer, not the non-believer interceding for himself. Jesus takes the role of a priest seriously and beyond the confines of this earth. If he still performs the priestly duty of standing in the gap for the people, how much more should we stand in the gap for the lost as part of our priestly duty. Jesus is able to reconcile anyone that comes to God by Him. For a believer to be petitioning for himself is another word entirely. The writers of the Word use the word supplication" for this situation, which we will get to in the next lesson. B. THROUGH PEOPLE JEREMIAH 27:18 18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon. Here again is the word "paga" which in the Hebrew means to "intervene in behalf of those who have not been reconciled to God, through prayer." ROMANS 11:2, 3 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, 3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left lone, and they seek my life. Elijah made intercession for the nation Israel, who had strayed away from God. Elijah was afraid that he was the only prophet left in Israel that still spoke the Word of God in behalf of Israel, and if he was gone, who would stand in the gap for the people. We find this in 1 Kings 19:10 after he had defeated the prophets of Baal and provoked Jezebel. The word "against" is not negative, but a positive. God was against Israel for their transgressions; Elijah was standing in the gap for the Israel God was against. Think of it this way, "He maketh intercession to THE God WHO
26

WAS against Israel and to the Israel that was against GOD." Elijah was trying to find a way to rectify the problem between the two. C. THROUGH THE SPIRIT The Spirit makes intercession for us when we do not know how to pray. This is where praying in the Spirit, praying in tongues, benefits our prayer life. The Spirit knows what to pray when we do not. The Spirit can pray the perfect prayer or petition to change what is going on in our lives. However, it is the Spirit making intercession, not our own intellect that is changing things. We are not making the intercession; the Spirit is making the intercession. When we pray for ourselves, we are not in intercession. The Spirit praying through us can intercede for our sicknesses, weaknesses, diseases, frailties and infirmities because all these things are in us and against God. Disease, infirmity, sickness and other physical attacks are against the healing provided for us by the cross. They are not only against our health, but against what God provided, and against Him. ROMANS 8:26, 27 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities : for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. It is not enough to get inspired and to have sincerity when we pray, but we need to distinguish what we are praying for. When we pray for the lost, we are in intercession. As blood washed believers, we are to lift up and "plead" for the lost. There are millions of lost people who desperately need a Savior. It is our duty as a priest to approach God in behalf of the lost. We are to stand in the gap and present them for salvation. Our prayers can and do target the lost with tremendous impact. All believers should plead the case of the lost in their household. The believer should paint the target for God to strike. We shouldnt withdraw from the Judges' bench until we see our petition for the lost granted. We can argue our case according to the Word of God and see the results we are seeking for those that are separated from God. I like what was written in 2 Kings 8. Here is a story of a woman that came before an earthly king with a petition. She wanted her land back, which
27

was a lawful thing for her to request. appeal.

She legally had a right to make this

Because it was lawful for her to make this petition, the king had to honor the law. He then also had to give her the officer necessary to enforce the law. If a human king would assign an officer to grant a womans petition, how much more does our heavenly King of Kings assign officers to grant and oversee that our petitions are granted according to the Word (laws) of God. 2 KINGS 8: 6 6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her acertain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now. This is why it is important that we know the purpose of each type of prayer. It is so we dont pray amiss or incorrectly which will stop God from assigning an officer to us to make sure our petition that we are granted is enforced. If we go before a Judge and petition him for a request and then we dont back up our petition with the facts or laws that state we have a right to this request, we may not see our answer. Satan is a legalist and will present to God why a person should not be granted his request. God gave us a system to use against him that will override his accusation with a turnaround or counter legal right. As believers, we should petition God, not beg God to do something for us. God is moved by His Word, not tears of hopelessness. He delights in hearing his Word spoken, not despair or fear. He is moved by his Word; He is not moved by how bad our situation is. When we come before God with prayers of intercession, remember there is a difference between praying for a person that is not a believer and praying for one that is. When a person is praying for a non-believer, their prayers of intercession should be directed toward their salvation. When praying for a believer, the prayers are made in one of three ways. A. Through Jesus B. Through People C. Through the Spirit Intercession means to intervene and that intervention is in behalf of a person or even a nation in a difficulty situation or in trouble, or if any of them
28

need to be reconciled. When praying for a nation, it is mostly the prayer of intercession at work and the best way to do it is through the Spirit. Never underestimate the power of intercession. One should always intercede with the Word of God and the legal rights the Word has given us to make this petition. Intercession is powerful to freeing the lost from their earthly captivity. Its time to see the intercessors God designed to stand in the gap rise up and become effective in the body.

PRAYER THAT CHANGES THINGS CHAPTER 3

30

In our study in Chapter 2 we discussed the prayer of intercession. review, intercession is done by the following. 1. 2. 3. 4. By By By By Jesus for the lost. Jesus for the saved. people for the lost. the Holy Spirit for us.

To

The responsibility of interceding for the lost is part of our priestly duty. A priest that does not pray is not operating in their priestly duty. Since mankind was not redeemed in the Old Testament until Jesus came, it was the duty of the priest to stand in the gap for sinful men to be forgiven, make sacrifices for atonement and have them restored to God continually. Likewise it pleases God to see us pray and stand in the gap for the lost. One of the first signs of revival is the lost returning to God. Every great move of God began with the lost returning to God. That is why Jesus told his disciples in Luke 10:2 to pray for the laborers. LUKE 10:2 2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. At the time that Jesus walked the laborers were few. Those who would reach the lost were very few in number. Salvation was about to be birthed with the death of Jesus and up to his death, he only had twelve men he was training and seventy that were following by their own choice. On top of that, one of the twelve was about to betray him. Today, on the other side of the coin, we still have a great harvest that is out there and more laborers than this world has ever counted before, but the laborers are lazy. The great harvest can never be brought in by a few hired hands, nor even a great team of highly gifted fivefold ministers. The work is too great to be reaped by an elite few. Only a global praying church can harvest an entire lost world in the span of a single generation. God is holding every member of His household responsible to be laborers, and to restore the foundation of intercessory prayer for the lost, that will launch the greatest move of God this earth ever experienced. The body of believers ARE responsible to intercede for the lost. Intercession is not something we do IF we have time, IF we can work it into our schedule, or even IF we remember. IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AND WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT. That is why David said in Psalms 2:8: PSALMS 2:8

31

8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. For too long, the body of believers have been willing to turn the land and the lost over to the hands of the giants of secularism and materialism. What we need are some Joshua's and Caleb's to take on God's perspective and go repossess the land and the lost. 2. THE PRAYER OF SUPPLICATION What is supplication? Why is there a prayer of supplication? Just to lay a foundation for supplication, notice that the root word of "supplication" is "supply". To supply means you are furnishing or providing something to where it is needed. An example would be to supply a community with electric street lamps. Not everyone may be in need of them at the exact same time, but to those who need it, it is being furnished or provided. Supplication, for the believer, is not a task we take on just for ourself, but it also touches a broader perspective than intercession. The scope of intercession is limited to the lost for salvation. Supplication petitions for everything needed that is necessary for survival, maintenance and reinforcement in life. The prayer of supplication is supplying, providing, or furnishing prayer to God in behalf of the person who needs it. In a court of law, a lawyer supplicates in behalf of his client. The lawyer and the client are on the same team. They are soliciting the favor of the judge together for a particular situation. The ability to present their case, the rights they have to their request and their knowledge of the laws will get them their desired request. When we supplicate for people, we are supplicating for those who are on the same team as we are. This is the prayer of the Christian believer for the believer, not for the lost. When we send prayers of supplication for ourselves or for other believers, it can also be for healing necessary for survival, or to bring angelic reinforcements in to fight battles. It can bring deliverance to situations or people that are suffering captivity through debt, loss, or other satanic attacks and supply a variety of other things that are needed. It can even be for circumstances where a mechanic is needed to fix a car, a plumber to fix a plumbing issue and other skilled people to help with daily living situations. Supplication is a very diverse type of prayer.

A. SUPPLICATION IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

32

1. WITH A WRONG MOTIVE Supplication is also a duty of a priest. Beseeching the Lord on behalf of another is part of our priestly duty. Samuel recognized it as part of his required actions on behalf of Israel to offer supplication with a sacrifice to evoke a blessing and the favor of God during a battle. When Saul took it upon himself to offer supplication and the offering outside of the designated pattern it was to be offered, this angered Samuel and God both. 1 SAMUEL 13:12-13 12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering. 13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. Saul needed God's favor, but did it outside of his realm of authority. Plus he did his prayer of supplication incorrectly. His real motive was to save his own reputation and prove the authority of a priest was not necessary to assist Israel in the victory. Samuel loved Saul and was betrayed by this action. 2. WITH THE RIGHT MOTIVE In the time of the dedication of the temple by King Solomon, the priest had already taken care of the atonement for sin. This gave Solomon the ability to offer prayers of supplication for the people. He entreated God on behalf of the people and encouraged the people by providing for them, a request to God for their supply. His response to authority was totally different than Sauls was in 1 Samuel 13. I KINGS 8:52-60 52 That thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee. 53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD. 54 And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven. 55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying, 56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
33

57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us: 58 That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers. 59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require: 60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else. Notice the difference in the level of prayer here. Solomon is not praying for their sins. They are not separated from God at this point because the atonement was made by the priest, now he is beseeching God for good things in their behalf. Provisions, promises to be fulfilled to the people as promised through Moses, and the turning of their hearts toward God. What a prayer. What wisdom and humility is being demonstrated by Solomon here. Even though there were those who were against Solomon in that crowd, and false gods being worshipped by his wives, he still turned to Jehovah and sought His favor for his people. He petitioned God to bestow His favor and kindness on the nation he was ruling. He could do that because this nation was part of the original family. They may have grown into a nation but they were still all related. This just proves that a person can pray blessings for others even when things are not right in their own household or the household of others, when they have made themselves right before God. Our office and legal right in our household permits that. 3. FOR ONE'S OWN NEED When David wrote Psalm 6, he was under great pressure. There are times when the pressures so overwhelm us that it takes God to intervene in our behalf to pick us back up again. Had David been living today and made the comments about his tears, we would have diagnosed him as on the brink of a nervous breakdown. His supplication for his own need to God, who was able to supply his need, brought him out of his situation. Notice where Psalm 6:10 ends, Psalm 7:1 begins on an uplifted note. God had answered his supplication and his attitude improved.

PSALMS 6:6-10 7:1 6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
34

7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. 8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping. 9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer. 10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly. 7:1 Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite. O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: If a person can sing in the midst of their trial, it is supernatural. Psalm 6 was sung by David. He was overwhelmed but we do not find him having a pity party before God however he is pleading his case and we know that God did answer this supplication. We find this same reaction in Psalm 30:8-12 also. PSALMS 30:8-12 8 I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication. 9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? 10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper. 11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. 4. SUPPLICATION FOR DIRECTION OR WISDOM There are times people will come to another believer because they are unable to hear from God on their own. This can be for a variety of reasons, so don't issue judgment here. Sometimes this happens so that the body will work together for a common cause. When we are unable to hear from God on our own, we should call on the body for assistance. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. Dont let pride block what God wants the power of agreement in the body of believers to accomplish. When we have pride in our lives, or are afraid of the judgment that will be upon us by others that find out about the problem, we hold back from asking for help. If anyone is judging a person by their situation, I have one word for that person; stop. Not everything that happens to another person is because they are bad. There is a lot of false judgments going on against believers based
35

on opinions and not facts. Jesus constantly went around doing good and healing the sick and look what happened to Him. A person might be in a situation just because they were demonically attacked by something outside of their understanding. Devils are smart enough to know that when they can't do things by themselves, they need to call for reinforcements. If devils will call for reinforcements in order to kill, rob and destroy, how much more should the Body of Christ wake up to this principle, lay down their pride, and get the victory. LUKE 11:24-26 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there : and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Notice in this next example that Jeremiah is going to make supplication for information from God on behalf of someone else. If you are the person needing wisdom or direction from God and you seek a person with proven character and integrity who legitimately hears from God, then you have a responsibility to follow through with the direction given. JEREMIAH 42:1-6 1 Then all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest, came near, 2 And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:) 3 That the LORD thy God may show us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do. 4 Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you. 5 Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us. 6 Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God. 5. MAKING SUPPLICATION MORE THAN ONE TIME

36

Sometimes supplication requires going after the petition or desired provision from God more than once, when it is on the behalf of ourselves or someone else. The best thing to keep in mind is when we pray like this, back up the reason the request should be granted with more scriptures than what has been used before. This not only strengthens our spirit, but validates our request even tighter. There are demonic forces that want to intercept answers. It is possible to give up only moments before the answer arrives and surrender the victory with ones own negative words. This is the number one reason people do not get the answers they are believing God for. They say one thing to God, and another to people. I like what God told me once to say to another person about their situation. He said to tell them, Dont tell me about your problems; tell your problems about me. In other words He was saying, Quit moaning and groaning to me about the problem. Start telling the problem, In the name of Jesus, you are going to change to line up with what God has provided for me. The Word says (Then quote Gods promise about His provision). I heard a preacher tell a story once about a financial situation he was going through that seemed hopeless. One time when ministering, he turned around to see this man dressed in a very expensive suit standing on his platform. He thought it was odd that someone would walk up on the stage so he stopped and asked the man what he wanted. The man replied (and Im telling this as exact as possible as to what he said), I am your financial angel that has been sent to help you but you are provoking me. I have been sent to turn around this situation but you are talking against what I am trying to do. And furthermore, you are going to falsely accuse me of not doing my job when you stand before the Lord to judge me. The preacher said it didnt take him any time at all to repent of his negative words and start speaking what God said about his finances. A good book to get that has the right words to speak over all situations is, Gods Promises for your Every Need by A.L. Gill.* Daniel was aware that there was a battle going on for his petitions in behalf of Israel during the captivity, and that his own life was in danger. He was standing in the gap for himself and his people, entreating God to intervene for the covenant He had promised Israel and that Daniel and his people would live under.

Daniel petitioned God three times a day for his deliverance and the deliverance of Gods people. By his act of petitioning his God, he knew if it
37

were found out, he would be in trouble, and so would everyone else that would ask petition of God. Again, notice Daniel is not begging God, he is bowing and thanking in an adverse situation. DANIEL 6:7-13 7 All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions. 8 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. 9 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree. 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. 11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. 12 Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the kings decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. 13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day. The king, even though he was responsible for the calamity that came upon Daniel, when he saw his own wrong-doing quickly came into agreement with Daniel that God would deliver him. Remember, Daniel grew up with the king when they were young boys as Daniel was mentored and almost raised by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Both Daniel and Darius had seen how God delivered them from the fiery furnace as reported in Daniel 3. Even though Darius did not believe in the God that Daniel served, his character and integrity caused even a non-believer to recognize the power of God. Daniel had to hold to a God approved response in his trial. He could not get mad or blame the king, but had to walk in forgiveness and love. DANIEL 6:16
38

16 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. Because of Daniel's character, perseverance of his faith and right response, God sent an angel to protect him. DANIEL 6:22 22 My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. In chapter nine, Daniel's ability to not give up caused his supplications to receive the attention of God a second time and Daniel to get an answer once again. This time God sent an angel to give skill and understanding. That should be everyones desire; to have skill and understanding of spiritual things. DANIEL 9:20-22 20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God; 21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation. 22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding. B. SUPPLICATION IN THE NEW TESTAMENT 1. FOR THE PRESENCE OF GOD Supplication, seeking God or petitioning Him, continued into the New Testament. Jesus gave instructions to tarry in Jerusalem until the promise of the Holy Spirit came. The people did this even though it ran into their feast called Pentecost. One hundred and twenty people gathered to pray and make supplication in agreement, in one accord for the power of the Holy Spirit to come. Their prayer and supplication was not left unanswered, but the answer came in such a great way that it shook the entire city.

ACTS 1:13-15
39

13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. 15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,) ACTS 2:1-7 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. 6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. 7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 2. SUPPLICATION FOR THE SAINTS Paul showed that we make supplication in the Spirit for others. He told the believers to make prayers and supplications in the Holy Spirit. Since the Holy Spirit is a helper, he can help us pray for other believers. He is a helper of those who believe on the Lord Jesus and the work done at Calvary. Paul said, pray for yourself, pray for others, and pray for me in the Holy Spirit for boldness. Paul gave them a specific request so that they wouldnt pray incorrectly. EPHESIANS 6:18-20 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

40

In verse eighteen, he is saying watch for the needs of other believers and petition God for them. Paint a target for God to strike in behalf of other believers. Don't become so self-centered in your prayers that you neglect the rest of the Body of Christ. Be observant and alert toward the needs of other believers. He even gives them a direction to supplicate for him. He says to pray that he would have more boldness to preach the gospel. He didn't want to back down or become intimidated by man and not proclaim the very thing his life was dedicated to. He needed their supplication and their petitioning God for the strength necessary to do the task he was sent to do. It is wisdom to find out from the person you are going to supplicate for, what their need is and what they believe God will do. Then you not only are operating in supplication, but the power of agreement also. 3. SUPPLICATION SHOULD ALWAYS BE DONE WITH THANKSGIVING Supplication can be done without thanksgiving, but how much more does it yield when it is mixed with thanksgiving. It takes faith to be thankful for something you haven't seen yet. The Word shows that a supernatural form of peace is released concerning the items prayed for when thanksgiving is added to the prayer. PHILIPPIANS 4:6, 7 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Verse seven shows a connective word. It is the word "and". "And" joins and links everything found on the right side of the word to the words found on the left side of it. It bridges two events and locks them together so that one functions with a direct result on the other. It is like saying "The cloth is black and white". It is not white alone, nor is it black alone. It is both at the same time. Always add thanksgiving to your supplication, and it will give you a dimension of peace that will guard your heart and mind against doubt, fear, or unbelief that there will be the desired results you are looking for. It takes faith to thank God for something you haven't seen yet. Supplication is the responsibility of all the believers, not just a select few. As a priest, it is our duty to offer supplication in behalf of the saints. We are to furnish petitions for others when they are in need.
41

Supplication brings the wisdom of God into our situations and the situations of others. When one offers prayers for the saints, they are supplicating, not interceding. Intercession is between two opposing parties, and God is not opposed to His children, no matter how much they fail. Supplication for the saints is done by the Holy Spirit; intercession for the lost is not. Because the Holy Spirit is our helper, we have access to a dimension of Him that the lost do not. Through speaking in tongues we can access a language that exceeds our natural level of prayer. Don't give up and don't put a time limit on your answer or petition. Dont tell God If you dont do it by (and then give a negative consequence that will happen) as part of your petition. Thank Him that He watches over His Word to perform it. Just because Adam and Eve fell in the garden, the promise of a deliverer didn't arrive until everything was in order. God is getting things in order for each one of us so that the request will come and not be destroyed in the process. He is getting our mouth lined up to receive and not destroy our very petition. God had to get things in order even to send His very own Son. GALATIANS 4:4 4 But when the fullness of the time was come , God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, There is even a fullness of time to gather the people of God to himself. EPHESIANS 1:10 10 That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: There is an appointed time when we will see the results, so patiently wait for it and never stop thanking and praising Him for it. Thanksgiving helps to speed up the answer.

PRAYER THAT CHANGES THINGS CHAPTER 4

3. THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT
In this next study we are going to explore the prayer of agreement. Websters Dictionary says "agreement is: "The state of being in one accord, harmony in feeling and/or opinion, an expression of assent by two or more parties to the same object, an exchange of promises". There are synonyms, words that have the same meaning as agreement, and by listing them, we can get a better definition of what agreements are. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. understanding to bargain (negotiations) to compact (alliances) to contract (binding legal document) binding arrangement pact (legally enforceable document)

The prayer of agreement changes situations, circumstances and things. It is one of the most powerful prayers two people can pray together. One of the biggest reasons Satan wants to split up husbands and wives is because together, they form a powerful union in agreement. This is the easiest place to cause division and strife, and the strongest, but most powerful relationship used to impact a change that is needed. Once you pray something in agreement you are responsible to keep it in motion. This is not a light statement. Once you pray the prayer of agreement, you are responsible to keep what you prayed for in motion, not let it stagnate and not talk against it. God has given us methods and ways to change things, NOT methods and ways to change God. It has always been God's plan to make us successful and better off, so He does not have to be changed. Therefore, situations and circumstances have to change to make us successful on the earth. Lets take a look at Ephesians 2:7 to prove that God wants to demonstrate His plans toward us are positive, not negative. EPHESIANS 2:7 7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
44

Are we not in the ages to come? This is the whole reason God sent Jesus to the cross; NOT so we could show God our love, which is the response we should have to what God did for us, BUT so God could show His grace and His kindness toward us. God is not selfish, He just wants us to shower our love on Him, but He knew that wouldnt happen until He demonstrated His love on us first! We have misunderstood the purpose of the cross when we think it was done so we could just send love one direction, and never receive anything or any love from God. The cross was the beginning of what God wanted to do for us, not the end. The cross opened the door for a flow once again from heaven to earth. Again, remember we are out to change situations, circumstances, or things in the prayer of agreement. We cannot pray to change God. We need to join with God to change situations, circumstances, and things around us. Lets look at what the Bible says about the prayer of agreement. MATTHEW 18:19 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Lets look at the situation and context that caused Jesus to make this comment. He is walking with his disciples and teaching them harmony among the brethren. Jesus did not just decide to make a comment out of thin air. This is written as a continuation of a conversation he is having. The writers have broken it up into chapters and verses. Jesus was teaching the disciples that there is an area of harmony among the believers, that activates a power that can bring to pass on this earth, any and every single thing that they will agree on . That is what he was teaching. Go back and look at the full chapter. When you pray, only one thing can stop the prayer. Jesus addressed this in Mark 11:25, 26. MARK 11:25, 26 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. BEFORE the act of praying even begins, there should be a time of searching to see if there is anyone we have not forgiven.
45

Nothing says we have to get into strife and unforgiveness, but it happens. The Word recognizes this and tells us what to do with it. It says to forgive any that we have unforgiveness or offenses against BEFORE we pray, not after. Many times I hear people say, I just couldnt help it, they made me so mad. I cant forgive them. Forgiving someone does not mean a person is admitting they are wrong and the other person is right. It means that we are releasing them from the punishment we think they deserve. It has nothing to do with who is right and who is wrong. Even if we are 98% right and they are 2% right, if we cant handle our 2% wrong correctly, how can we expect them to handle their 98% wrong? It is not worth surrendering the impact of our prayers for one offense that most people wont even remember ten years from now. There is a place in God where we can agree. We can come together in agreement and cause change, affect a thing, create needed changes, and bring about solutions by bringing God on the scene. Anything that we decide that is in line with the will and the Word of God can come to pass. In order to do that, check out where we are so far with these 3 steps: 1. Do we have unforgiveness toward someone? 2. Find out what God says about the situation before praying and the scriptures that cover the situation. 3. Make up our mind what we want. What is the result we are looking for? Lets look at Matthew 18:19 again: MATTHEW 18:19, 20 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Where does agreement begin? It begins on earth. "If two of you shall agree on earth" We are not waiting on God, He is waiting on us! After all, we are on earth! We qualify for this statement because we are on earth. The Lord is not here in verse twenty because two or three are gathered; He is here because you are here and you are gathered in His name. He said He would never leave nor forsake you, even to the ends of the earth. You are not here by yourself.
46

Jesus is in our midst to make sure that our agreement gets fulfilled. This actually is a continuing statement from verse eighteen. Lets take away the numbers and read it as if it were one continuous thought, which it is. MATTHEW 18:18-20 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. The prayer of agreement begins on earth. He is talking about earth first. It is going to require two in agreement doing the act of binding (locking up, restraining further activity) and two doing the act of loosing (unlocking an answer, situation or activity) on earth for God to change what is going on. God already moved; He sent His Son to the cross, He established the covenant, sent the Holy Spirit, sent angels, and He has dispatched all of heaven in our behalf. Now it is our move. There is nothing else He needs to do. Now it is up to us. Jesus is in the midst of those agreeing believers to carry that agreement out. When Jesus shows up, He never shows up alone either. He brings the backing of heaven with him to make sure our request is carried out. Think about that. When Jesus shows up as the King of Kings, He brings his entourage with Him so that every matter is going to be established and fulfilled. WHAT MAKES THIS WORK? The most common question asked is, What makes this work then? How do I know it will work when I pray? Lets look at Deuteronomy 19:15. DEUTERNONOMY 19:15 15 One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. This is a principle God set up from the beginning so that every word would be established in the mouth of two or three witnesses. Are not two or three gathered in his name?
47

He has given the Body of Christ authority in the earth. We have heaven, earth, the Word of God, the blood, God, angels, Jesus and the Holy Spirit all backing us. We have been given the authority to loose the power of God in its fullness to make changes when we come together with the prayer of agreement. Because of this principle, it explains why Satan works so hard to break up unity in the church and unity in the home. A husband and wife can be very powerful in the prayer of agreement just as two believers who are not walking in strife and unforgiveness and are operating in unity. They can get anything done, anytime and anywhere that needs to be done because of their unity. But it will take agreement to do it. The body of Christ cannot be fighting, speaking against each other and in disunity six days a week and then think on the seventh day they can come into unity and get their prayers answered. It doesn't work that way. Unity must be a lifestyle. HOW DO YOU GET UNITY IN YOUR PRAYER? In order to get unity back into our prayers, lets look again at the scripture found in Matthew 18:19 and look at another aspect or direction in this statement. MATTHEW 18:19 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask , it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. To begin with, as we previously stated, there has to be agreement or unity in the prayer. Many times one prays and the other agrees, but if I'm reading this right, both have to do the asking. There has to be absolute agreement on what the specifics of the change or request are. The next time, before beginning a prayer of agreement, get ready to pray the same prayer with the one agreeing with you. This way both people will be consciously aware of the prayer. This way one of the two won't get out of agreement. It is at this point that I would suggest writing down the prayer word for word that is going to be spoken out. Have two copies ready so that the person coming into agreement with you cannot only state the same prayer of agreement but has a copy of it for future reference. God does not require a written prayer, but too many times one or the other person will conclude the prayer with "if it be thy will" or make a comment afterwards of "I hope (you get it, it happens, etc.)". One is in hope, the other in faith and there is NO AGREEMENT.
48

BOTH PARTIES HAVE TO BE iN AGREEMENT, NOT ONE BELIEVING AND THE OTHER SAYING I HOPE SO. When a person signs an agreement to buy a house or a car, they agree to make the payments required for the purchase. They don't go into the purchase thinking I sure hope I can make the payments. If it has their signature and the signature of the seller, or bank, both parties agreed and said the exact same thing. It is the same words with two signatures of agreement. If the buyer signed it, the buyer is saying, The payment will be there. Satan is a legalist and will use technicalities to stop the agreement. The word translated "agree" in the Greek means to "harmonize or make a symphony together". When a person makes a symphony they make all available instruments in harmony. We need to get all available parts in agreement: body, soul and spirit. All three must get into agreement. Our actions and words should also show agreement. We cannot pray the prayer of agreement with another and then act differently to what was agreed upon and expect it to come to pass. There has to be a discipline to keep this prayer of agreement from turning into hope and doubt. The world has caught a concept that the Body of Christ needs to get a hold of. When the world comes into agreement regarding the sale or purchase of an item, they write it down. Why shouldn't the believer do the same? It's like trying to have an agreement without having an agreement. To start the agreement, write it down. We need to write down what we want agreed upon. It would be a good idea to go to the Bible and get the facts about our situation. Get what the Word says about the situation and if necessary, get a journal or diary to keep this information in. Date it. 1 John 5:14, and 15 tells us that when we ask according to His will He hears us. 1 JOHN 5:14, 15 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. An example of how one can start their agreement would be something like this: "We hereby agree as follows according to Matthew 18:19 and 20 in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ who says whatsoever they shall ask the Father (insert Matthew 18:19 and 20 here in your agreement).."
49

It is a good idea to also add scriptures, like we find in John 16:23 which says: JOHN 16:23 23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Then a person can continue their agreement with something like this: "Father, according to (verses that support your petition can be entered here) we ask you the following in the name of Jesus."This will keep a person from praying around and around the point, hoping to target what they are trying to achieve. It causes a person to focus on what they are trying to accomplish. If it doesn't look right the first time you write it, erase it. You haven't prayed it yet. Do it again. Keep writing it till you get it the way you want to see God answer it. Insert and remove scriptures as they apply to the change requested. When praying for healing, get the facts. Write down the healing scriptures that state it was accomplished from the Word. Healing is not a promise, it is a fact. A promise is for a future time, a fact states it was already accomplished. Jesus already bore your sickness, thats a fact. WHATEVER YOU DO: 1. DO NOT RECITE AND DRAG OUT THE DETAILS OF THE PROBLEM OR THAT CREATED THE PROBLEM IN YOUR PRAYER, WHETHER YOU ARE IN GENERAL PRAYER OR THE PRAYER OF AGREEMENT. 2. DO NOT PRAY THE SITUATION OR DESCRIBE WHAT THE DEVIL HAS DONE IN THE PAST OR PRESENT OR MIGHT DO IN THE FUTURE IN YOUR PRAYER. After one has it written the prayer of agreement the way they want it, then they can add the following something like this: "Satan, in the name of Jesus we here by notify you according to this agreement, you are bound on this day and hour and you will not function nor operate, harass or embarrass or in any other way intimidate this agreement and we hereby render you helpless over this matter, your assignment is broken and covered by the blood of Jesus. In Jesus name and because I believe it, because I know it is so, I set my name to it as a matter of releasing my faith." Now sign your name and date to the bottom of it.
50

Then hand it to the person who is in agreement with it and have them pray what was written and sign their name to it. Now when Satan comes against both parties to harass them about it NOT coming to pass, they can take their agreement and beat Satan over the head with it. They can show him their agreement and discipline themselves to only speak the agreement. There is something about signing an agreement or putting our signature on something that gets us to be more disciplined about what we signed. It causes people to make a quality decision regarding what they want to see changed. Now e really know what we want to have come to pass. We know the answer we are looking for and can identify it when it comes. If we goof up and make a wrong confession, we need to admit it, repent of it and get back on the agreement. Do it quickly. YOU ARE OBLIGATED TO YOUR AGREEMENT. Writing it, speaking it out loud and signing it puts a demand on the signers to stay in agreement regardless of what happens between the time of signing it and it manifesting. PROVERBS 4:20, 21 20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. 21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. We may have to read our agreement daily and remind ourselves (and Satan) "it is written" until the full manifestation is seen. WHAT IF I AM AFRAID IT WON'T COME TO PASS EVEN AFTER I WROTE IT DOWN? There are times we are afraid it won't happen. Fear and doubt enter the head first. That is why agreement can be made in the heart and not the head. That is why it is so vital to go to the Word and write down what the Word says. We can at least agree that God's word is true. Go over and over the scriptures about the situation before establishing the agreement with someone else. This takes discipline, which will prove whether a person is serious about getting it changed or not. Dont let what you receive by way of the five senses (hearing, seeing, touching, tasting and smelling) dictate the outcome. Let the Word of God be the criteria used for the outcome. Financial issues are the only areas that have an open door on them that no other area has.
51

No one can keep us from receiving financial breakthrough if we make up our mind to function in finances God's way and line up our confession with it. If we are tithing and giving offerings, we have a right to financial assistance from God. The first fear not recorded in the Bible was after the tithe was given. GENESIS 15:1 1 After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. The open door that exists with finances that doesn't appear in other areas is that money already exists here. Money is not in heaven. It is here. We have to take the financial arena back. ECCLESIASTIES 2:26 26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit. It is the sinner that gathers and heaps up and gives it to him who is good before God. Toiling should not be the method of the righteous. Sowing of finances and patience has to be exercised in financial needs as well as getting the right confession. It is good advice to have our heart settled and make sure the heart of the person agreeing with us is in agreement too or DO NOT SIGN THE AGREEMENT. Do not go into the agreement with the attitude of, "If it doesn't work, I have a back up plan." or "I agreed to receive $100 but maybe I should just settle for $50". We have to control our mind, our will and our emotions. The easiest way is to keep putting that agreement before our eyes. If we keep our mouth shut and let God work, He will probably do more than what we agreed to. THIS ALSO WORKS IN THE REVERSE! How many times have we heard about someone being sick and as the details of his sickness are being given, we say things like "yea, a-huh". We may not realize this, but we are giving agreement with that sickness to be there! The yea, a-huh is giving agreement to all that is being told. Because we think our words are noise and not backed by power, we take lightly the seriousness of what we are saying.
52

We ignore the fact that what we say will come to pass. It may not be visible right now but I guarantee you, according to the scriptures, that it will. Other cautions in ones words are statements that are said like the following: "I don't have any money" when you just agreed to financial turnaround. "He looks really bad" "Poor guy" "I'd like to died over that" "That kills me" "Unbelievable" "That drives me crazy" "If God doesn'the is going to ." Do we have to write our agreement down and add scriptures? No, we don't have to write these things down, but it does help to discipline our focus and get God's Word on our situation. How many times have business deals suffered because they were not written down. Writing it down prevents us from yielding to procrastination, neglect, laziness and a negative confession. It also keeps us from forgetting the details of what we were agreeing to. AGREEMENT CREATES UNITED PRAYER. the negative.) (Both to the good and to

WHY DOES GOD WANT TO ANSWER MY PRAYER OF AGREEMENT? First if all, let me give some encouragement. God is for us not against us and WANTS our prayer of agreement to be fulfilled. When Satan introduced suspicion in the Garden of Eden, the one he targeted was God. Mankind has been suspicious of God ever since, when mankind should have been suspicious of Satan, the one doing all the accusations. This is what God has to say about wanting to answer your prayer of agreement. JOHN 15:7-11 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. 9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
53

There are six things that happen as a result of solid agreement in prayer. When our prayer of agreement is activated by the Word of God here is the list of things that John records will happen in the process: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. You can ask and it will be done. The Father is glorified. You bear much fruit. You become his disciple. You continue in his love His joy remains in you and your joy becomes full.

Does that sound like the way Satan has presented Gods character? If all that happens as a result of prayer, not making ones request produces the opposite. When we see our answer come to pass, it doesn't take long for others to see the answer and be encouraged that God will do it for them too. And it encourages us to believe for more. DISCIPLINE YOUR ACTIONS Look at 1 Corinthians 10:4, 5. We have to cast down everything that will try to destroy our agreement. 1 CORINTHIANS 10:4, 5 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; Don't let Satan infect our mind with doubt or unbelief. The parties in the agreement will have to cast those thoughts down and remind him of their agreement. If we get thoughts like that, we will have to capture that thought and toss them out of our heart and mind. This is our part. Speak out loud the agreement as many times as necessary to defeat thoughts that are against the agreement. This is a valuable tool. Thoughts cant defeat thoughts. Words defeat thoughts. The battle in the thought life has to be conquered on a level higher than the thought. Words hold a higher, more powerful position than a thought and therefore words can defeat thoughts. Remember Satan attacks in the carnal, earthly realm; God is not limited to earthly warfare. He has given us a weapon that is mighty and overcomes what Satan puts in our mind.
54

Once an agreement is signed, the war will be in the mind, not in the agreement. IF WE DO NOT DISCIPLINE OURSELVES to stick to our agreement, it won't take long before people know that our word is not good and we don't act on what we put our name to and no one will have anything to do with us when it comes to making an agreement. The lack of discipline causes character and integrity to suffer. This applies to our prayers as well as our finances. In summary, if God saved us, then He wants to fulfill His Word in the rest of our life as well. If we pray His will then we know we will have our petition. The Word promises that: 1. 2. 3. 4. You You You You have have have have His Word, the Name of Jesus, His Will, an agreement

SO THEN: Its done!! I encourage everyone to refresh each other concerning their agreement. Both parties should have a copy of the agreement so they can bring to each other's attention that they are still in agreement and nothing about the agreement has changed. It speeds up the manifestation of the agreement when we praise God for the results before they are seen by the eye. Remember, "it is written PSALMS 145:2-5, 10-12 2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. 10 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee. 11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; 12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts , and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.

CHAPTER 5
4. THE PRAYER OF BINDING AND LOOSING As we get into the prayer of "binding and loosing", we must remember that this is another facet of prayer. There are times we bind and bind and bind and nothing seems to happen. If we look at the scripture where binding and loosing occurs we will see that they are joined by the word "and". Remember this is a connective word. It ties binding action to loosing action as a pair of twins. Binding is half of the action. Loosing is the other half. MATTHEW 16:15-19 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. There is a real devil and he likes to work twenty-four hours a day. If we think a five minute prayer will solve every one of our problems, we are mistaken. He is working twenty-four hours a day against us and we should be just as persistent with the weapons of our warfare. Instead of letting him go on and on and on for days and weeks and months before we ever do anything about it we need to address it immediately. We should not just sit there and just think about it, ponder over the situation, and not mobilize our weapons against him. If the devil will take every opportunity to destroy us, then we should take every opportunity to destroy him and his work. If binding doesn't fix the situation, then loosing will. When we go against a situation that is not from God, we can bind Satan from the situation AND we can loose him from participating in situations against us. We can cast him out of our situations. To cast out means to throw away from. This applies to our situation, not someone else's. They might want him in their situation and because they opened the door to him; we can't deliver them of their friends. This is especially true when people want to keep their addictions. We can do something for this person in this situation. We can bind that spirit that is in that person. We can stop the functions of that spirit in him, even though we
57

cannot cast it out of him. We can cripple that thing so bad that is has a difficult and hard time working in that person. Then begin to pray for that person that God will open their eyes to the situation so they can repent. To repent means to turn around from what is being done. Then they are ready to have that spirit bound and loosed. Let me expand on a "positive negative". This is an attitude that is negative but camouflaged as a positive. It doesn't make any difference to the devil how it sounds, it's what is underneath that counts. It's the power behind it that counts. The "positivenegative" prayer would sound like this: "Satan, in the name of Jesus I told you to flee. Now I told you to get out of here and you're going to have to go." Like it or not, we just told that devil that we don't believe that he went when we told him the first time. And now all he has to do is be real quiet for a while, then come in and tear up everything in his path. Then we come back and say "I wonder why he doesn't leave?" The word says to resist him and he will flee from you. When we say go, we need to mean it. Speaking "in the name of Jesus" is the predominant method of prayer. Speaking the Word of God in the name of Jesus is the predominant method of opposition against Satan. The word "resist" means to oppose him and he will flee from us but that is not the only way we oppose him. One thing we need to do is agree that we are to be free of Satan's influence, not agree that he is there. Once we identify his influence, we should go to the Word and get ourselves a scripture to stand on and our modify our prayer to fit the Word: Satan, in the name of Jesus, I bind you from (name the situation, not his influence to the situation. Correct response; "from trying to put poverty on me". Incorrect response: "from taking my money, leaving me in debt, and stealing my finances" and I command you to be loosed from my finances. I bind you from any further stealing in my finances and I command you to lose a sevenfold return to me, according to Proverbs 6:31 which says, But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.. My confession is now one of victory, my confession is now one of financial freedom, I'm redeemed from the curse of poverty, and my God supplies all my needs according to his riches in glory!" When we start attacking him with the Word and the right confession and we are resisting him. I guarantee that he will flee in a hurry. That hurt him. We have just
58

given him a spiritual tongue lashing that has power. These are spirit words and he is a spirit, so these words cut him up. When we bind him on earth, God adds to the pressure on him from heaven and now he has the squeeze put on him. Heaven will not take the pressure off of him unless we take the pressure off of him by changing our confession. And thats how we have let him get away with what he gets away with. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR CONFESSION IF YOU DO NOT SEE IMMEDIATE RESULTS. YOUR CONFESSION IS STILL WORKING UNLESS YOU CHANGE IT. ACT ON YOUR FAITH. James tells us in the book of James: JAMES 1:6-8 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. "Nothing wavering" means - do not let any outside influence oppose our confession. We have already stopped him by binding him, now we need to stay on top of our confession. We need to continue to apply the Word of God to the situation. Let's look back to Matthew 16:19 again. MATTHEW 16:19 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. When Jesus said he was giving us the "keys" of the kingdom of heaven, he didn't hold any of them back. He gave us ALL of the keys. He only withheld two of them for himself. They are the keys of hell and of death. ALL the others are given to the believer to use to get things done. It is up to us to learn about them and use them. Keys lock things and keys "Unlock things. We have been given the tools necessary to lock Satan up and unlock what he stole from us. Just go up one scripture to verse eighteen in Matthew 16 and see what it says. MATTHEW 16:18
59

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The reason the gates of hell cannot prevail against us is because they are not locked for the believer anymore. Satan cannot lock them. He doesn't have the key anymore. Jesus took it away from him. Satan is lying to us when he tells us our situation is "one door no one can unlock." It's like a man going to rob a bank with only his hand in his coat pocket and he says. "Give me the money or I'll shoot." There is no gun in his pocket, it is only his hand. He can try to convince the bank teller it is a gun, if they let him, but if they ask to see the gun, he knows he's caught and he runs. The same hold true with Satan. He doesn't have the keys anymore. He only tries to convince us he has it when in reality Jesus tells us He has it. REVELATION 1:18 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. When we bind, we are binding in the spirit realm and heaven will enforce it. When we loose we are loosing in the spirit realm and heaven will enforce that as well. But we must do the binding and loosing. We DON'T ask God to do our binding and loosing. IF WE DO, what we are saying is we are in unbelief and doubt that the Word of God works, especially the part where God says, "Whatsoever you bind" He continues with "Whatsoever you bind on earth." God is not on earth. We are on earth and we must do the binding. When we do, He will enforce it UNLESS! we change our confession. We must bind first, not God. Once we bind Satan, we have access to his goods. MATTHEW 12:29 29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Before a person goes after the return of their goods, they should bind Satan first. All of Satan's goods are stolen property . He has illegally taken goods from others and us, and put it in his unlocked house. After binding him up, go spoil his house. Get your stolen property back. Binding is very powerful. We just don't take it seriously enough. addresses it again in Matthew 18:18-19

Jesus

MATTHEW 18:18-19 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. There is a combination of binding, loosing and the prayer of agreement in those two verses. Between these three, how can we fail? We should be in such harmony about these things that whatever the local body of believer should bind and loose should experience change. That's what God's best is for us. When we come together like this, whatever we bind and loose in our city should affect the whole city and there's not a thing any unbeliever or sinner can do about it. We should NOT start to use this power of binding and loosing on our pastor, wife or husband, children or to manipulate other people in order to change things in their lives we personally dont like. Binding and loosing is not to be used on preferences but against the works of Satan. Binding and loosing is not for manipulative purposes. We have to evaluate our motive first to make sure we are not in sin, then get our confession straight, get out of strife, and not waiver. This takes an advanced, mature Christian decision to examine oneself. When we take this action it seems the calls start coming to get us in strife and waiver and out of harmony so the things we are agreeing on, binding, loosing and dispatching will not come to pass. THIS TAKES A QUALITY DECISION TO STAY OUT OF STRIFE and not be influenced by any other work of the flesh. What we should do concerning our husband, our wife, our pastor, our children or our church is to tell that spirit, "I bind you in the name of Jesus from trying to operate against the life of (husband, wife, pastor, church, etc.) and operate in my life against them. You will stop your attack against them and me now." We should depend on what Jesus said, not what we can see. We need to put our focus on the Word of God, not on faults Satan is trying to put before us concerning other people. A police man has the authority in his uniform to represent the entire area represented by his badge. He has the authority to stop a car at any intersection he
61

wants. But if that car decides it is not going to stop, he does not have the power to stop that car in his physical body. Now, if we put that same police officer in a military tank, and have him aim his cannon toward that car and have him tell the car to stop, he now has not only the authority, but the power to stop the car. He has not changed, he always had the authority, it is the weaponry that gave him a different level of power. One pull of the finger would destroy that car. The pull of the finger did not activate his power; the release of the trigger activated a power in the cannon that could stop the car. It is the power of God's Word that stops Satan. When we say "In Jesus Name", we just pulled the trigger on the cannon. We should be controlling Satan, not Satan controlling us. We have access to a superior power he has no access to. Let's take another look at the loosing side. LUKE 13:11-13 11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. This woman's loosing from her infirmity was already covered with the covenant God established with Abraham, but this woman didn't know that. It was already provided for her but once that law was acted on, she was loosed. His declaration of what was provided for her bound the strong man of infirmity and then when he laid hands on her and immediately she was made straight. Then Jesus had to explain to the religious leader and the religious mind what gave him the right to do that according to the law. Religion is not of God. But the religious leader of the synagogue had made a religion out of God. Because Jesus didn't do it the religious way, he upset the ruler. Religion says, "If it be thy will" Jesus knew what the will of God was first and then spoke that when he said, "YOU ARE LOOSED." Just because he didn't stop and explain all this to her and the crowd first didn't mean he was out of order. He was operating by an established covenant and an established WORD. LUKE 13:15-17
62

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham , whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? 17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him. His foundation for loosing was the Word of God established with Abraham. Therefore, according to Galatians 3:29, if she can be loosed, we can be loosed. GALATIANS 3:29 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. People need to be LOOSED from infirmities. Infirmities are bonds from Satan. Infirmities like to attach themselves to people so we need to loose them from the people first then bind them from being able to return. The person who has just been freed now has to watch their confession so that the spirit does not have the legal right to return by the words the unchained person says. No person is too sick, too far gone, too bad or too anything for them not to be loosed. We do not have to be in the presence of that person to loose them as long as they give their verbal approval for us to pray this way for them. Sometimes God has to say things to us to get our attention and get us to focus on what He has provided for us rather than us to focus on our situation. This is very common with events that include doctors reports or threats from bill collectors. Sometimes the distractions created by the event we are involved with seem bigger than the power of the Word of God. When this happens, try backing away from the emotional attachment to the event and then refocus on the written Word of God and speak it out loud. The woman with the sick daughter was focusing on her daughter being vexed with a spirit of infirmity, not on God's ability to set her daughter free. When Jesus got her to change her confession, her daughter was loosed. Here is the story as found in Matthew 15. MATTHEW 15:22-28
63

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and cast it to dogs. 27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. We need to learn how to function in these things proficiently. Sometimes our confession shows that our faith in the problem is stronger than Gods ability to free us from it. Once the confession is changed, the faith is redirected to the Word of God being stronger than the situation. There is another aspect to the prayer of binding and loosing and that is the ability to access angelic assistance in our behalf. 5. BINDING, LOOSING AND DISPATCHING. How many of us realize that angels work with mankind to get the job done? As we take steps to enforce what Jesus did on the cross, the victory we have because of his blood, and the authority he has given us, gives us access to angelic assistance. Look at Hebrews 1:7. HEBREWS 1:7 7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. Look at what is being said here; His angels spirits AND his ministers. God made his angels to be spirits. He also made his ministers (the Greek says this word "ministers" means "a servant of God, a worshipper of God, a servant of the Gospel, man") to be a flame of fire. A man that operates by the gospel is a flame of fire in the spirit realm. What would we do if we ever saw into the spirit realm and saw the minister of the Gospel on fire? That's how God sees us when we minister - as a flame of fire. Thats how Satan sees us too!
64

The angels and ministers work together; one in the spirit realm and one in the natural and spiritual realm combined, but both at the same time. What is confessed in the natural realm is activated in the spiritual realm and affects both realms at the same moment. We are designed to be a bi-realm being but many of us dont think of ourselves as such. Since we have access to both realms, then we have access to what the spirit realm provides for us. Look at Hebrews 1:13-14, 2:1. HEBREWS 1:13, 14-2:1 13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits , sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. Look at the details of chapter one verse fourteen. Paul was just talking about angels and then he made the statement, "Are they not ALL" All of the angels, not just some of them, are ministering spirits. Paul says they are ALL MINISTERING SPIRITS. And then he goes on to say how they function, they are "sent forth". How did they get sent forth? PSALMS 103:20, 21 20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. 21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. What is his pleasure? That we are using what He gave us to get the job done and that includes angelic assistance. First of all, the angels of verse twenty are not the ministers of verse twenty-one. These are two distinct words. Angels are ambassadors, they are messengers of God. The word "ministers" are servants that serve God. One is an angel; the other is a minister or a person They are sent by the Word of God. The angels do his work when they listen to, hear or perceive the Word of God being spoken.
65

This verse calls it the "voice" of his word. The voice of his word is when the Word is being proclaimed, sung, spoken or called aloud. When the angels hear direction being given according to the Word of God, THEY DO IT. Think about this again. WHEN THE ANGELS HEAR DIRECTION BEING GIVEN ACCORDING TO THE WORD OF GOD, THEY DO IT. But who gives them this direction? God's ministers. Any person that is operating according to the Word of God and is declaring what the Word of God says is a minister of His. All of God's angels are dispatched by the believer who is sending them forth according to the Word of God, and the angels are doing what they are told to do to get God's commandment (His Word) to come to pass. That's why in Hebrews 2:1 Paul warns the people to be careful of what they have heard so that once they send the angels out to do the work; they don't slip up and call them off the job. When there is a situation that has to be changed, especially in the area of finances, and a person is tithing and giving offerings, the angels operate to turn this area around by going and getting those finances and bringing them to us when we quote what God said about our supply and sending them out to fulfill His Word about our finances. (Really think about this.) Financial turn-around is linked to tithing and giving offerings. As that is being performed, we need to speak what the financial benefit is that we want to reap from what we gave. We need to say what the Word of God says about that petition and the angels will fulfill the Word of God we spoke with our request. Look again at Hebrews 2:3 HEBREWS 2:3 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; Paul is saying, "How are you going to escape your situation if you neglect the very things the Lord spoke that would get you out of the situation?" and by the way, I've even seen this in action and confirm it to you. He is not saying the great salvation is accepting Jesus as our Savior. These Hebrews had already done that. I will re-word Hebrews 2:3 according to the Greek definitions:
66

HEBREWS 2:3 (Reworded) How, by what manner, do you think you will escape the situation that opposes you, if you are careless and make light of, even to the point of neglecting the mighty rescue, deliverance and saving you out of your situation, which at the first establishment of this principle, to be spoken, told, preached and said to you by the Lord, and was confirmed, documented as being true, to us by them that heard it, reported it, understood it and experienced it? In a nut shell, if God gave us a way out and the choice to reject it was our response, just how do we think we will get out of the situation? Do we think there is another option? We have a right to dispatch ministering spirits, but find a scripture that fulfills the deliverance of the situation and send them out to accomplish the work. They hearken unto the Word as we speak it out. Because they do not understand when we are just kidding, they think if we speak negative against what we just sent them to do, that we want them to stop helping. They are not designed to evaluate words or make choices for us. They are designed to obey words. When God speaks to them, they carry out what He says. That is the way God designed them. If they obey Gods voice, then they obey His Word as we speak it. Don't call them off. Here is an example of how we can pray effectively: "Satan, I bind you in the name of Jesus from trying to put poverty, lack and debt upon my family and me and in the name of Jesus I command you to loose my finances, my family, my property, my income, my bank account, my possessions and me from financial destruction. I command you to loose my goods and the things you have financially stolen from my family and myself, and my seven fold return according to Proverbs 6: 31 that says "But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house. I bind you from holding my sevenfold return back and command you to loose it to me in the name of Jesus. Now angels I dispatch you according to Hebrews 1:14 that says Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" to go and get my sevenfold return that is due me in Proverbs 6:31. I loose prosperity upon my family, my household and myself. Angels, go and cause the Lord to delight in my prosperity according to Psalms 35:27 which says, "Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant."
67

Now, don't call them off the job. Let them get the work done. If we slip up, we just repent and get them back out there. Watch what comes out of our mouth. Don't "hope" they get the job done. Don't "hope" this works. Stand fast, and like Moses told the people in Exodus 14:13, 14; fear not! EXODUS 14:13, 14 13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. Bind, loose, dispatch, don't fear, stand still and see. That says a lot about the prayer of binding, loosing, and dispatching, and its results.

PRAYER THAT CHANGES THINGS CHAPTER 6

5. PORTALS What is a portal? This term is coming up more and more in the church circles with little understanding of what it is. Historically God has used portals in the lives and events of man and despite the lack of understanding in the church, God still uses them today. A portal can be described as the following: 1. Doorway 2. Gateway 3. Entrance 4. Entry The scriptures talk about portals from the Old Testament all the way to Revelation but because of the words used to describe these portals, the reader misses that a portal was referred to as they read. An example of this can be found in Genesis 28 when Jacob discovered a heavenly portal. Jacob described it as a ladder; God designed it to be a portal. GENESIS 28:10-13 10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. 11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. 12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. 13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it , and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; Jacob then erected a monument to the Lord in the place where this staircase appeared and named the place Bethel or dwelling place of God. Later on we will find the Lord telling Jacob to return to Bethel and He would speak to him there. Why did God tell him to return to Bethel? Because there was a portal there that gave God the right to communicate with him. There are recorded instructions where God would tell some of the prophets to go to a certain place and He would meet with them there. That was because of an open portal for communication.
70

GENESIS 28:16-19 16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not. 17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. 18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. 19 And he called the name of that place Bethel : but the name of that city was called Luz at the first. Why would he send him back there? Because it was a portal. It was a place where God had an entrance from heaven to earth, or earth had an entrance to heaven. Portals open up the fullness of the supernatural and the Glory of God. In the Old Testament, people like Adam, Enoch, Moses, Elijah, Elisha, Abraham, Jacob, Paul and Jesus knew these portals existed. In the New Testament, Paul had several encounters with it as well as John on the Isle of Patmos. In their culture and religion they had been taught about these places, but the words in Hebrew and Greek were not translated portal but were described with words like stairway, door, and gate. In the book of Jeremiah, we are told to ask for these places and the understanding of them to be revealed to us. Jeremiah, even though he quotes what the Lord says, which was to ask for these old paths, also quoted the response of the people who heard the words. They didnt want the ways of the Lord and they didnt want to know about the old paths. These old paths translate pathways to God. From the last book in the Old Testament to the New Testament book of Matthew, there is no real prophet or direct communication that goes on with Heaven found in any of the Hebrew Scriptures. JEREMIAH 6:16 16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Throughout the Scriptures we see the existence of portals referenced. Some of these references were spoken by King David who taught them to his son Solomon. Both of them were not only aware of these portals but had supernatural encounters and experiences with them.
71

PSALM 24:7-10 7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah. PSALM 78:23 23 Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven, PROVERBS 8:34 34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. Ezekiel opened a portal when he spoke to the wind. EZEKIEL 37:9.11,12 9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. 11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. Ezekiel was told to prophesy to the wind, to a portal that opened the breath of God, the very breath that was used to make Adam a living soul, to restore life to the nation Israel. (Genesis 2:7) The Bible records it as four winds. It is thought that these dry bones were the result of the Holocaust that was to come. The statement that they were cut off for their parts is something that happened in the camps. It is believed that he saw the concentration camps of Hitler, the masses of dead bodies from the murder that took place there, and spoke life back to the nation Hitler tried to destroy. The book of Ezekiel is full of prophetic acts that were done in order to open portals whereby God communicated to him things that were to come, things that were acted upon in secret and future events.
72

Even the opening of the Red Sea was the result of a portal opening. It says God opened it with a strong east wind. Moses obedience to a prophetic act allowed God to open a portal and do what He wanted to do to rescue them. EXODUS 14:21 21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. Jesus spoke to his disciples and told them that a portal, an entrance to heaven would be revealed to them and they would see angels ascending and descending upon him. John recorded this in John 1:51. JOHN 1:51 51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. In the book of Revelation we find God giving an invitation to John and us to have access to His heavenly realm. God wants to release visitations from heaven upon the believers in Jesus in unparallel ways. When the door, the portal opened in heaven, John was immediately taken through it. REVELATION 4:1-2a 1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit; Portals exist in an unseen realm. Unfortunately the church has shied away from anything that is supernatural. The truth of the matter is that if there is a counterfeit, then there must be an original. HEBREWS 11:1-3 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. In Hebrews 11:1 it references that there is a dimension that is not seen. In this area of the unseen exists the evidence, the substance of things hoped for.
73

In the Book of Genesis, Eden was the only place God ever named. Everything God did was from that place. His focus was to do things from that place. Eden was a portal. When man sinned, the portal was closed. Everything outside the Garden of Eden existed as re. That is why we have re-newed, re-stored, etc., because all of the original actions of God were in that Garden. The Garden was the only place He named and the only place He operated in prior to the fall. The name Eden translates, A moment in time. The Seven Feasts of God were appointed times when God wanted to do exploits and meet with His people. There were some things that could only be obtained during these appointed times with God. These set times and these appointed times were to be observed by the people because portals would be opened into the supernatural. Three times a year special portals were opened to them. They were Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles. In the Book of Malachi, the people were to bring all the tithe and offering to the house of the Lord during this time. These tithes and offerings were a totally separate tithe and offering than what they normally brought. They were told not to come empty, or empty-handed. The people who celebrated Pentecost were Jews and they knew they were to stand before God with these tithes and offerings.. When the day of Pentecost was full come, they had to come to God with what He required for this appointment with Him. It was unthinkable to show up to their appointment with God without what God required. The feast days are the Feast of the Lord, not the feast of Israel. The feast days were the Lords feast days to be celebrated by the people, not the feast days of the people to be celebrated by the Lord. The Lords feast days are to be celebrated forever as well as this practice. This concept has been lost in the organized church. EXODUS 23:14-15 14 Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year. 15 Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:) DEUTERONOMY 16:16 16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:
74

We need to discern the timings of God. Perhaps delays are associated with these scriptures. We want God to show up for our request but we dont want to show up for His request. And if we do show up for His request, we dont bring what He requires with us. You may be getting some things turned around, but not like they could be. The mercy of God operating is not the same as the Blessing of Abraham working in your life. When a person gets into a portal, God can do in a split second, what would take years to obtain. Thats why when Adam left the Garden, in a split second he went from immortality to operating in the death realm. In worship, the ability to open portals is easy. They can be opened quickly and easily when worship is in one accord. This happened with King Solomon. He opened one of the largest portals by combining a feast with worship and sacrifices. It was on the Feast of Tabernacles. Not only did King Solomon and the people show up on time, but they brought the required tithe, offering, and worship. If King Solomon had missed this date and not brought the offerings, he would have missed his destiny. 1 KINGS 8:8-11 8 And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day. 9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt. 10 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD, 11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD. 2 CHRONICLES 5:13-14 13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; 14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.

75

Could God have shown up like this in Moses tabernacle? To a limited degree He did. The difference here is that God cannot build on something that moves. When God came down to Moses on His tabernacle, the cloud did not fill it. The cloud covered the tent but did not fill it. When He came down to Solomons Temple, it was to be a permanent dwelling place, not a movable one, a place where His portal could remain. EXODUS 40:33-38 33 And he reared up the court round about the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the hanging of the court gate. So Moses finished the work. 34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 35 And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. 36 And when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel went onward in all their journeys: 37 But if the cloud were not taken up, then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up. 38 For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day , and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys. Portals open by sound. That is why there are churches that have been contained because they have not been able to break through with the sound that opens portals. That is why God told the people when they come before Him they are supposed to bring high praise. High praise breaks demonic matter in the atmosphere up and opens portals to get your request through. If you have things that are held up then you can open a portal through high praise, even in your home. Portals are important. Divine portals exist around the Earth even now. One of the major portals on this planet is found in the city of Jerusalem. It is believed that Melchizedek established Jerusalem as was recorded in Genesis 14. He was the king of Salem. The city called Salem later had its name changed to Jerusalem. Jerusalem today is the old city of Salem. Every person in the Bible that had an encounter with God experienced an open portal. Another thought concerning this city is that it was the center of the world, as spoken by David and Isaiah and the previous entrance to the Garden of Eden that God would used to visit Adam.
76

Perhaps that is why the enemy is trying to capture Jerusalem and drive Israel off the map. He is trying to close off the most important portal on earth. GENESIS 14:18 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. Portals are available 24-hours a day for the person who will spend time in the presence of God. It seems that throughout Scripture we see references to the opening of portals, or the heavens on the Lords Day. Some of the greatest healings and miracles were performed by Jesus on the Sabbath, or Lords Day. It was on the Lords Day that John was called up into Heaven. REVELATION 1:10 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, When portals are not open to you, then you have to work by Adams curse. Your energy was used to work not to worship. The enemy has access to your strength when you have a closed portal. Favor is magnified in an open portal in your work. Observing the statutes and ordinances of God brings blessing, not toil. There are two camps in this world; those who operate by toil and those that operate under the blessing. The system of God brings blessings, revelation and the light of heaven when honor is brought by respecting the Lords Day. Portals connect the spiritual world with the natural world. The natural world was modeled after what was in heaven. Adam and Eve demonstrated that as they were able to work both in the natural realm as well as the supernatural realm with God. Satan knew about the portals from his time with God and has copied these portals into demonic gateways. That is why those who practice witchcraft are able to astral project and travel out of their bodies from one place to another. JOB 1:6-7 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

77

God does not endorse this activity. He does want us to know they exist, but not to participate in them. King Saul consulted a woman with a familiar spirit (a spirit that operated under demonic influences) to open one of these doors to the holding place of Samuel and it infuriated Samuel. Samuels anger was because he had to obey evil and this action is where the Lord became Sauls enemy. 1 SAMUEL 28:7,11,12,15,16 7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. 11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. 12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. 15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. 16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? Portals can be opened by the believer to those things which Hell has to offer as well as opening the ones to heaven. Jesus said to Peter in Matthew 16:18 that our confession or what we believe that comes out of our mouth, can prevent the gates of hell from prevailing. MATTHEW 16:18 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Recession, financial hardship and lack are not coming from heaven. They come upon the believer because the other portal, the portal from heaven is not open. In order to keep the portal to hell closed, the portal to heaven has to stay open. You have the ability to open both heavenly portals and to open the gates of hell. No demonic force can prevail against you unless you allow it. You cant afford not to tithe because if you choose not to tithe, then your action creates the portal to hell, not heaven. We need the heavenly portal open so that God can keep the destroyer from consuming our jobs, our finances, our savings, and everything else we put our hands to.
78

MALACHI 3:11 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. When the people of Israel were blessed, their whole nation was blessed. Even David tithed to keep Israel blessed. Imagine what it would be like if the whole nation and government tithed. There would not be an evil open portal anywhere in the nation in the financial realm. Halloween is a feast to the devil that opens portals from hell. This is the time the church should be closing those portals in worship. The sound has the ability to pierce and go through the caps that Satan wants to put on Gods portals. Thats why David said in Psalms 68:1 to let God arise. High praise scatters the enemies of God. PSALMS 68:1 1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm or Song of David . Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. Many portals have been closed by those who practice demonic activity and defiled them. Moravian Falls in North Carolina is a portal on land once owned by Count von Zinzendorf and the Moravian people for over 100 years. The Moravian people prayed in that area non-stop and those who have stayed there report they have had numerous angelic visitations. Another place known as The Pinnacle in Sutton, New Hampshire, is a portal the witches are constantly building altars on to block the place where God had once revealed Himself. Portals are not restricted to these places that have been mentioned but exist even in peoples homes. Portals exist on consecrated ground. There are numerous reports of hot spots in living rooms and meeting rooms of businesses. Anytime we consecrate a property to God, He receives it as now belonging to Him to do with as He pleases. We have experienced these in our living room and upstairs bedroom. When people begin to consecrate their property, their lives, and respect the church properties as consecrated land to keep it holy, it opens the portal for revival in that area. God is calling His people to take back the places of divine destiny so that the portals that have been closed can be re-opened. He desires his angels to go and come without restrictions in the midst of our world.
79

PSALMS 118:19-24 19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD: 20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter. 23 This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. 24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
