Within the time frame provided you need to create three-five pieces of text. The minimum is three as you must present in each style of writing. Complete one piece at a time. One piece must be presented in handwriting. The prompt is locked in for each style and they are outlined for you below. Persuasive - We learn as we grow that life isnt always fair. Expository History teaches and shapes us. Imaginative The meaning of life is different for each individual.
Step 1: Choose the style you will focus on and view the prompt, think through/brainstorm/plan ideas, undertake research and note-taking. You could utilise any of the following thinking tools at this point: THINKING TOOLS:

ESSAY MAPPING TOOLS:

STORY WRITING TOOLS:

Star point: Definitely make the most of the time you have for planning and thinking through your writing pieces, but dont get stuck at this stage. The most important thing is to create your piece and complete it in the time set for you.

Step 2: Plan further, consolidate your ideas as you write your statement of explanation (SOE). Your statement of explanation must discuss your authorial choices in terms of FLAP+C: F form L language A audience P purpose/prompt C - context
NB: Your SOEs for the S/N folio tasks can be outlined briefly, but you must develop your SAC SOE with detail, in a minimum of three paragraphs. It can be typed.

Step 3: Create your piece to present. Ensure you consider the features of the form you have chosen carefully. Use appropriate detail to enhance your piece. E.g., dates in a diary, images, indicators of a visual, a headline for an article, etc. Work to develop a sizzling start and captivating conclusion for your piece. NB: The second half of each workshop will be dedicated writing/creating time. One piece must be presented in handwritten form. It can be typed up but only after writing it by hand. Also, you may need to organise homework time to finish the S/N tasks. Some writing ideas: An expository biography on Ronald Ryans life A persuasive essay on why Australia should or should not reintroduce the death penalty A creative monologue describing a mothers feelings after she has lost control and hit her child An expository research report on the history of Australian Rules Football A persuasive blog post outlining why you feel humanity needs to end war
